  1. also guys you know what Jose De Leon's comp was in 2014 and most of, if not all of 2015? RHP Javier Vazquez (marlins , white sox, ect.) remember him ? a career #3 or #4 starter who bottomed out as a quad A guy after about 7-8 seasons. he might of had 1 or 2 career years where he pitched like a #2. thats what i think De Leon essentially becomes, maybe a little better career, but still
  2. John Bonnes and 1 or 2 others have said , they'd take a Dozier for De Leon swap 1 for 1 straight up. I disagree , i think at minimum it can be De Leon , Brock Stewart or De Leon and Calhoun
  3. Reports are the Dodgers were not willing to include any of : P's Brock Stewart, Walker Buehler or obviously Yadier Alvarez as the 2nd piece. IF that is true that means they most certianly weren't willing to include any of Alex Verdugo, Willie Calhoun or even Chase De Jong as a 2nd piece either. and we already knew that Urias, Y, Alvarez, and Cody Bellinger were off limits IF that report by Heymann and co. ? is true Screw the Dodgers they don't really want Dozier in my mind SO WE KNOW the offer all long was either A. ) jose de leon straight up for Dozier or B.) De Leon and a C prospect or 2 they weren't even willing to give up high end C+ guys. thats a mistake on their part big-time. and no way in hell De Leon is a top 5 prospect in the game, not even top 15 he's somewhere in the 16-40 range for me.
  4. only way i c it is 1 yr deal.... w/ incentives and or an option
  5. no thnx
  6. I'm fully in belief at this point, that Dozier is going nowhere, and EVEN if he is or does end up getting dealt, Its going to be a "sneaky' club Like The Braves or even maybe the Royals that get him. Angels, Nationals? ect. I think the Braves would throw out one of RHPs Matt Wisler or Aaron Blair which is a nice #3 or #4 starter..... already in the majors as well as LHP prospect Sean Newcomb and probably one hitting prospect at least around C+ range. thats 3 total pieces that trumps the LA Dodgers. De Leon + .....i'm sure Braves would be willing on that > than anything the Dodgers are willing to trade at this point. I'm all for keeping Dozier letting him do his thing and then maybe re-visiting X (scenerio at the trade deadline in July)
  7. Another factor in the Dozier / De Leon potential swap the Dodgers could be overlooking is that Dozier plays every day. De Leon pitches every 5th day, gives you what maybe 150 -160 innings next year? Brian Dozier had 640 AB's last year on a terrible ball club. The Dodgers are getting potentially 1,200 innings from Brian next year, where the Twins are getting at best 1/6th of that from De Leon. I know pitching trumps that in many ways but De Leon is far from sure thing a minimum of De Leon and Calhoun and De Jong or B. Stewart an ideal of De Leon and Buehler and a similar maximum of what the White Sox got for 5 yrs of Adam Eaton. B/C... Dozier > Eaton.
  8. I'm psyched If We end up Keeping Brian Dozier going into the 2017 season. He will lead us and our rebuild into greater things, Brighter days ahead. Brian Dozier is absolutely worth 3 to 4 quality players in a trade, we don't get that Screw L.A.
  9. Great post Jeremy I too Would be down with De Leon , Brock Stewart and Willie Calhoun but De leon and De Jong or De Leon and Stewart isn't enough. And i believe the only way we might get De Leon and Walker Buehler + one other is by including Mike Tonkin or Alex Pressly whoever strikes their fancy
  10. If the Nats are willing to include CF Victor Robles, that is the only way I see they have the prospects it will take to acquire 2B Brian Dozier If they are not willing to include Robles (most likely) They simply do not have what it takes after giving away ~75% of the Farm in the Adam Eaton Deal. White Sox killed it on 2 deal this off-season , just blew the industry away almost.
  11. Allow me to correct and re-interate what I said earlier at the TOP of page 2 here. The Nats, Cubs, Giants, Cardinals and most definitely the Dodgers are all believed to have at least "checked in" on 2B Brian Dozier and his availability, or lack thereof in all honesty. I Have been saying for quite some time, that If the Dodgers are "unwilling" to part with certain pieces (which they ARE) That the St Louis Cardinals are A Better Match and thats even WITH RHP Alexander Reyes not being a part of any such deal. my offers if I'm with Antony, Johnson, & Johnson, Steil , Levine, and Falvey and Co. 1. Dozier and Tonkin ... for .. RHP Luke Weaver, AAA , RHP Jack Flaherty (A+ (aa) , OF Magneirus Sierra (although I don't personally think his ceiling is that different then Ben Revere's or Aaron Hicks) and RHP Sandy Alcantara, A (A+) and possibly one other player. I originally had included 2B/CF Kolten Wong b/c the Cardinals are sort of "growing old" of him and 2. Really don't need him with Gyorko's explosion last year. Either Way in any such Dozier deal involing the Cards, they will certainly at least toy with pushing Wong on us. ONE WOULD THINK 2. Dozier and Ryan Pressly (or Tonkin, preferably if they'd succumb)... for .. Jose De Leon, RHP Chase De Jong (AAA) , Willie Cahloun (AA) , and RHP Walker Buehler (A+) .
  12. Reyes is untouchable make it Dozier + Pressley for De Leon De Jong, Cahoun and one other or Dozier + Tonkin for Weaver, Jack Flaherty , Kolten Wong and Magneirus sierra
  13. Yadier Alvarez, Walker Buehler , Jose De Leon, Paul De Jong, Brock Stewart, Jacob Raihme. the first 3 names are the clear cutt best 3. Cody Bellinger -(only other untouchable besides Urias) Willie Calhoun Alex Verdugo *Gap* Gavin Lux -(who can't be traded yet, anyway) Omar Estevez Austin Barnes Diaz
  14. I disagree (slightly) with the Detroit assesment They're absolutely in contention for the division crown in 2017 People forget their Rookie Hurler Workshorse Michael Fullmer (who they got from the Mets for Cespedes a few yrs back) HAD a Monster breakout campaign in 2016....People talk about Verlander possibly winning the last cy young, when in reality Fullmer is the best pitcher (and young) on their staff. Detroit has easily leap-frogged both Chi Sox and Minnesota for the next season or 3 and I personally think at this point, they're a little better then Kansas City so in 2017 Cleveland, Detroit, K. C. , Chi Sox , Minny is how i see it shaking out. Maybe our Twins finish 4th , but thats prob. a best case scenerio I think Falvey and Co. have a 2019 or 2020 contention goal right now. Not exactly 2018.
  15. I like De Jong the RHP as a potential 3rd piece. Dozier and Ervin Santana : for Calhoun (big fan of his always loved that bat) for De Leon (paired with Berrios could be the next Javier Vazquez type of arm #3 or 4 starter) for De Jong and Yadier Alvarez (only way i see us getting him as well, is including someone like an Ervin Santana) NOT SURE IF DODGERS have any interest in Ervin Santana, but just a thought. I don't see us getting Bellinger , unless we swap out one of those 2 aforementioned RHP pitchers
  16. I keep a running tally and Grade of Each of the Twins draft(s) since 2000. Here are my recordings ( i factor in every guy that made it to the Majors w/ or without the Twins , every top pick first 5 rounds bust or not.... and every guy that turned into a star player that the Twins didn't sign , usually High-schoolers) 2000 = D+ Adam Johnson RHP, yuck ..... OF Jason Kubel in teens 2001 = A- Joe Mauer , Nick Blackburn (29) 2002 = A- Denard Span , Jesse Crain (2nd) , Pat Neshek (6) , Adam Lind, Jeff Clement 2003 = D Matt Moses , Scott Baker (2) 2004= B+ Plouffe, Perkins , Waldrop , Fox, Rainville, Swarzak, Matt Tolbert (15) mised out on Adam Wainwright Giovani Gallardo and one other star (we took Fox and Waldrop and Rainville over these names.) 2005= B- Garza, Slowey , Duensing, Tolleson , Yonder Alonso (Garza for Delmon Factors into lower grade) 2006= C Parmelee, Benson, Ty Robertson, Daniel Valencia (19) Tosoni, Manship ect. 2007 = C- Ben Revere , (Chris Heston) -------> Trevor May 2008 = ( ?) Aaron Hicks -------------> JR Murphy Danny Ortiz, Mike Tonkin , George Springer, Kolten Wong 2009 = A Kyle Gibson , Chris Hermann (palka) , Brian Dozier (8) , Bullock/ Diamond 2010 = C+ Wimmers , Goodrum , Pat Dean, EDDIE ROSARIO , Logan Darnell 2011 = F Levi Michael , Travis Harrison, S. Turner, Jason Wheeler (?) 2012 = A+ By Buxton , J.O. Berrios , M. Melotakis , J.T. Chargois (2) , A.B. Walker (3) , Zach Jones, Tyler Duffey (5) , Taylor Rogers (11th) 2013 = ( ? ) Kohl Stewart, Ryan Eades, Gonsalves, Garver ect. 2014 = Nick Gordon , Nick Burdi , Cederoth , Clay , Jake Reed, Max Murphy (probably a C range maybe B ) 2015 = Tyler Jay, T. Blankenhorn, T. Cabbage, Chris Paul, LaMonte Wade ect. (probably a C range maybe B+) 2016 (?) = Kirilloff and 6 or 7 other intriguing H.S.ers and RHP's Griffin Jax and Tom Hackimier I HAVE Terry Ryan, Mike Radcliff, Deron Johnson, and Jim Rantz ect. doing a phenomenal job over the last decade + OTHER than 2000, 2003 and 2011 they hit on every single draft... Which to the blind eye and the common fan is GREATER than the average front office in the game of baseball even today. * even in 2000 they Found Jason Kubel and in 2003 they nabbed Scott Baker in the 2nd round!!! Unbelievable job by those guys; Falvey and Levine have quite a bit to live up to. Its the development and mostly the roster decisions, personnel (trades! ) and FA decisions that have doomed terry and co. obviously some of those were nearly a forced hand that was dealt I.E. letting Torri Hunter leave to the Angels in late 2007.
  17. Don't restrict urself or oneself to JUST the Dodgers in a prospective Dozier Deal The Cardinals would be a perfect match , and have reason to strongly want Brian D. as well. Luke Weaver + Sandy Alcantara would be a nice start throw in a C+ prospect and thats basically a wrap. They're almost a better match for the Twins than the Dodgers are for example.
  18. I too see May in the bullpen, I just do, Wouldn't be opposed to him getting a shot in the rotation, but with a bad bark knock on wood back, 150-200 innings or 45-70 innings for May a year/ season ?~?~? -hmmm not to dificult of the choice to go with the latter, at least for now. I don't think the Twins will sign ANY of the FA's you mentioned except for maaaaybe Neftali Feliz. but still, i am ok with ur "blueprint" $112 Million sounds about right.
  19. Adam Brett Walker's problem is he can't make consistent enough contact. #2 he is on the same team with Kennys Vargas and Miguel Sano making him all but irrelevant on this team. 31~33% K rate in the minors probably = 35% + K rate in the majors which is absolutely un-fathomable #3 if he was at least an above average defender He'd absolutely be given a 40 man roster spot, thing is he's NOT that either. SO all in all, i have no problems losing him to Milwaukee now Baltimore.... The thing is if we would of traded Trevor Plouffe a year ago and packaged Walker in the same deal IMAGINE the return we would of got for that?!? Probably could of had Tanner Roark back then. Damn shame really.
  20. It is an absolute fallacy that our new regime and Front Office, failed already in assessing their catcher to bring aboard in FA.... they gave Jason Castro $ 24.5MM When Ramos effectively just got 1/2 of that total money allotment. What an absolute and pathetic failure of a start to a "new" team; a new regime. when Ramos could of been had * i don't care if Ramos misses 50 % + of 2017.
  21. Bellinger plus Verdugo and De Leon for Dozier and Perkins ? who says no?
  22. So long Trevor Plouffe wish you well!

  23. On defense and merit alone, I'm suprised the new regime couldn't get a C+ or B- prospect for him. When healthy, Plouffe has shown he's .250 - . 265 hitter with 18-25 HR pop, and well above average D at 3B. If the quadracepts thing kept the Twins from moving Plouffe to a team with a prospect or whatever thats really a shame, he'll sign with someone like Pittsburgh or Anaheim and probably rake. Remember the first 1/2 of 2015 , Trevor Plouffe and I believe one or 2 others single handedly kept the Twins offense afloat right out of the gates, propelling a near playoff season.
  24. yeah of all nicks points i think the one i disagree with most is Michael Tonkin The guy is no good. I have been off his bandwagon since late 2014. when you have a 96 MPH fastball as flat and straight as an arrow and a slider in the mid 80's with little tilt and mild action that TONKIN RARELY throws and when he does 80% of the time its for a ball.. your're the DEFEINTION of a Quad A Bullpen arm. Michael Tonkin is No good at MLB baseball. I've been trying to package him in trades I.e. Meyer and Nolasco ect. for months and months now.
  25. Kyle Gibson's velocity readings Tonight: 90+ , 83, 81 when you're throwing 3 speeds and only 3 speeds all game long... i DON"T CARE HOW Good a pitcher you are, eventually in a game you're going to get creamed and that is exactly what happened. Where in the World has Kyle Gibson's slider been for about 80% of the season? and he'll show 92 on a nice 2-seamer once in a while but then goes right back to the 89-91 MPH sinker. Ki-Gibson is a 4th starter, and very disapointing for what was supposed to be a top 10 worthy pick in the 2009 draft. Also Kurt Suzuki is growing tired of him, IDK about the other way around....
