  1. Ted Williams, good at baseball. Water, still wet.
  2. It's a real bummer about Suzuki, he was actually heating up at the plate recently...
  3. I remember that when Wieters first came up he was going to be "a switch-hitting Joe Mauer with Power" He hasn't quite hit that ridiculous standard, but he's definitely an upgrade over the current slate of choices in the Twins Organization. If they can convince Wieters to come for a one year make good deal, that would great. I also support the offseason trade to bring in a 2nd catcher, with the 2nd guy being a younger guy with upside to take over for Suzuki and Wieters in a year. I think Pinto is going to be somewhere else next year or at the very least not catching for the Twins, so the more depth the Twins can acquire behind the plate, the better.
  4. I was thinking of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7A5xLk3hIs
  5. Nothing against Jepsen, because he has been great. My issues with the Jepsen Trade are the same now as they were then - it was a half measure that is working out very well. I too would have liked the Twins to get Jepsen and another reliever. I too would have liked Jepsen or the second acquisition to have come around the All-Star Break instead of the deadline. Having Jepsen around for a second year sounds great now, but some people (myself included) were saying that about Suzuki as well. I don't think he'll be bad next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's better now than he will be in 2016. The last point I want to make is that May in the bullpen was like a trade as well - the Twins traded one of their best starters in the first half for a reliever. He just happened to be the same person. Personally, I would have liked to get two guys from outside the 25 man roster and left May in the rotation, but that's another thread. Long story short, I'm very happy Jepsen is as good as advertised, but I feel the same way about the deadline now as I did then.
  6. Royals Starter Kris Medlen has given up at least 3 Runs in his last three starts, hoping for more of the same tonight. Last time out, he surrendered 11 hits and 7 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. His only start against the Twins was several years ago when he was still with the Braves.
  7. Sano could use some time off, agreed, and Kennys could use some at bats so he can get back into the groove of mashing some taters (speaking of dinnah)..
  8. Thank goodness Sano doesn't have an innings limit ...
  9. ok, easy solution - Rosario and Robinson get on somehow, pinch hit Sano, Three Run Homer, everyone goes home happy.
  10. Ugh. Gotta throw strikes to double play machines like Soto.
  11. Hey - that's a "Quality Start"TM by Gibson. The bullpen just needs to string together 9 outs
  12. welp, this is going to be Gibson's last inning... hopefully he can get this last out...
  13. We'll always have the Twins' Diamond Awards in the off-season. . . I think Sano will be named the Twins' top rookie for 2015, and it won't be close. Possibly also the Twins MVP, though I think they usually share the wealth so it might end up going to ... Uh... Dozier?
  14. He's absolutely deserving of a vote or two in the top ten. He should get some ROY votes in the top 5. He hasn't played as often as most position players (and don't forget that he's been essentially a DH, not playing in the field much at all), so there's pretty much zero chance he ends up in the top 10 of MVP vote getters, but I'd be surprised if no one put Sano on their ballots somewhere...
  15. Kind of like it would take six bowls of corn flakes to equal one bowl of total; it would take "500" games for the 2012 Twins to reach 80 wins.
  16. The Other Question - who would the Yankees rather face? The Twins or the AL West Champ? Same for Toronto... Who would they rather play in a one game playoff. Sano has to be making everyone in the AL East shaking in their cleats.
  17. I was looking at the standings yesterday and thinking it might be more likely for the Twins to catch the Yankees than the Rangers at this point... even though the Yankees have the bigger lead at the moment.
  18. Smell ya later 2011, 2012, 2013, see ya wouldn't wanna be ya.
  19. The Twins are going to have to get that monkey off their backs at some point, might as well be in a one game postseason series.
