  1. Is he really much of an improvement over Liam Hendricks and Swarzak? I don't think a trade for Lannan makes sense because of his contract and because it seems like the Nationals want a MLB player or prospects - the rumor about Chicago's interest included Marlon Byrd. Seems like he doesn't justify the cost. Would it make any sense for the Twins to trade Span or Revere? The Twins can't fill the desired need of the Nationals without creating another weak spot for themselves, so I don't think it will happen.
  2. If I had a dollar for every time I tried to get my dad to quit smoking, we'd have season tickets.
  3. In principle, I think this is a great move by the Twins, but I think my dad won't come to another Twins game with me (He typically has 3-4 Cigarettes per Baseball game as far back as I can remember).
  4. I think Philly, San Fran, and Tampa are the best. I would add to your list of honorable mentions with The Dodgers for Kershaw and Billingsley alone (though they don't really have much after that - Aaron Harang is probably past his best years); The Marlins for Josh Johnson, Mark Buerhle, and Ricky Nolasco; and maybe the Rangers - even though they lost C.J. Wilson, I think Yu Darvish could make the rotation better than last year's version.
  5. The Tour that Oakland and Seattle made to Japan was odd, I didn't understand why MLB wanted any of those games to count in the Official Standings, rather than just having them all as exhibitions. It's probably the same reasoning behind having the All-Star game "count" - that somehow making the games affect the standings will make them more marketable or interesting to the fans. But I agree with Thrylos98's sentiment - Opening Day is the Twins' first official game to me, too. Major League Baseball has a large enough audience and teams spread out enough that focusing Opening Day events locally must make more sense to MLB so they maximize viewers.
