  1. I don't listen to the radio very often - doesn't Gardenhire have his own show, too? I still can't quite figure out why Terry Ryan would be asked where Willingham will hit in the order, or how the bullpen guys will be used. It seemed listening to what Ryan said about Doumit that they aren't overly pleased with his start this year.
  2. Why do they keep talking about stuff that should be questions for Gardenhire (playing time, batting order, bullpen use) instead of focusing 100% on GM related topics?
  3. tough break for Duensing to get a loss in this one - Jeff Gray is the luckiest Twin so far this year.
  4. Does Nathan or the Twins Hitters have any advantage by seeing each other for so long? Nathan seems to be relying on the fastball to get ahead and then going to the slider . . .
  5. If Revere would be sent down, who would take his place? Or is the idea of sending him down just assuming the need for depth after an injury?
  6. Who is Brandon Snyder (batting 9th for the Rangers) ? Is he a masher or a defense first kind of guy?
  7. Mastroianni was on the Jays' AAA roster most of last year, wasn't he? I was surprised to see that he was in AA to start the season, I kind of thought we was brought in to push guys like Revere and Plouffe in Spring Training as a possible 4th outfielder. He's probably realistically 7th or 8th on the org's depth chart for the outfield, so I guess AA was probably about right.
  8. It's going to be a cold one out there tonight. Hoping for a end to this losing streak!
  9. These arms are still theoretically available - any chance the Twins consider spending the $ saved on Baker's insurance on any of these guys? Should they? Starting pitchers Kyle Davies (28) Doug Davis (36) Armando Galarraga (30) Jon Garland (32) Sergio Mitre (31) Roy Oswalt (34) - Type A, no arbitration offer Joel Pineiro (33) Carlos Silva (33) Rick VandenHurk (27) Javier Vazquez (35) Brandon Webb (33) Right-handed relievers Michael Wuertz (33) Left-handed relievers Joe Beimel (35) Mike Gonzalez (34) John Grabow (33) Hong-Chih Kuo (30) Damaso Marte (37) Trever Miller (39) Dennys Reyes (35) Arthur Rhodes (41) - Type B, no arbitration offer Mitch Stetter (31)
  10. "Eight Men Out" (plus one) Eddie Cicotte Chick Gandil Lefty Williams Happy Felsch Shoeless Joe Jackson Fred McMullin Swede Risberg Buck Weaver And St Louis Browns 2nd Baseman Joe Gedeon, becuase he knew about it (even though he told Comiskey what was going on)
  11. It's also possible that they started making them and found that some guys were no longer with the team, or they chose not to make banners with players on them because of the number of changes (like they had to order the banners early enough in the offseason that they couldn't be sure to have the right guys on them).
  12. Good news, everyone! The Twins can't possibly lose another game today. Tomorrow is harder to call, but enjoy the day free of frustration and gnashing of teeth!
  13. You know, for as rough as this stretch has been the starting pitching today and yesterday has been pretty good. Even Pavano kept things relatively close. The defense and the absent offense has really made these first handful of games hard to watch.
  14. nice quick inning from Blackburn - that's good news for him
  15. I've been to: The Metrodome Target Field US Cellular Field (New Comiskey) Wrigley Field Miller Park Kauffman Stadium Jacobs (Progressive) Field Great American Ballpark (Cincinnati) PNC Park US Cellular was the worst; I really liked PNC Park, Jacobs Field and Kauffman; The Dome of course was the Ugliest, but for some reason I just can't separate the stadium from the memories. Target Field is a great combination of a beautiful ballpark and a team I want to win, I've really enjoyed every trip I've made there. The atmosphere the first year in the playoffs at TF was definitely better than the last playoff game I went to at the Dome (Boof versus the Oakland A's). I guess I need to hit Detroit next, it's the only AL Central city in which I haven't seen a game.
  16. I think Lew Ford might have reason to not like Torii right now. My least favorite players usually have little to do with them personally (how well could I possibly know them?). I've never been a fan of David Justice (playing for the Braves, Yankees, Cleveland and Athletics), Nick Swisher (Playing for Oak, the White Sox and now Yankees, he's regularly been playing on the team that elminated the Twins from the playoffs or from contention in recent years), guys like that.
  17. Anything can happen - this is Wilson's first start of the year, new catcher for him, new team playing defense behind him. Gardy's money quote from the MLB.com game preview talks about how the ball comes out of Blackburn's hand better than anyone on the staff this spring. Go Twins!
  18. Small Sample sizes, but Mauer has been terrible against Angels Starter C.J. Wilson and Willingham has been pretty good. I hope it doesn't take them until the 8th inning this time to start scoring runs.
  19. Every season there's a no-hitter or two by guys that seem like they would never throw one - Liriano's last year was his first (and only) complete game in his career, wasn't it? I would think the first one this year will be by some guy that you wouldn't expect - Jason Hammel and Jon Niese both had no hitters into the seventh today. My guess is that the first no-hitter this year will be . . . Jason Vargas of Seattle. Just picking someone random...
  20. Bring on the Angels! I'm going on Thursday afternoon. There's always another day...
  21. Make that three extra base hits! I'm sad that it makes me happy. edit to add - ok, the eighth inning belongs to Josh Willingham
  22. Can't really ask for much more from an emergency starter... The Twins have left all their hitting in Spring Training for some reason, just have to hope they figure it out soon.
  23. Duenslinger! Well, that's something encouraging.
  24. Credit should go to Carroll, Willingham and Parmalee's defense for keeping it to just 4 runs.
  25. Maybe the Twins hitters have better luck against the Baltimore bullpen...
