  1. if nothing else it adds another "true CF" to the organization. Maybe the Twins will have fewer middle infielders playing CF in the minors if they add another guy?
  2. whew - pitcher's best friend to the rescue
  3. HA. Take that Toronto. You can have Mastro, we'll get younger.
  4. oh boy - the dreaded 6th inning.
  5. Gotta be happy if you're Nolasco - staked to an early lead and had a short first inning of work despite being a little wild.
  6. I promise I won't tell him if you don't.
  7. Kurt Clutch! Always glad to see those walks turning into runs
  8. That's funny, magic 8 ball said "reply hazy" so maybe there's something to the weather report. I think the bigger question is how many RBI does Colabello have by May 1st? He's already passed his season total from last year (55 games).
  9. One more Colabello anecdote, his next Run Batted In will make him the Twins' all-time leader for RBI in the month April. Think he gets it today?
  10. At this point I think the only player that can play Hicks out of a job is Aaron Hicks. All the talk surrounding the waiver claim on Fuld was about him taking Mastro's job, not Hicks'. And it's not like the Twins have a lot of depth at AAA ready to be the back-up CF. Fuld is going to probably get more at-bats and more innings than Mastro would have, but Hicks is still the guy (for now).
  11. Sure didn't take long for Gardy to experiment with a defense-first lineup. I assumed that we'd see Hicks and Fuld on the field together at some point, but I wasn't thinking it would be this soon. I wonder if this will be typical against lefties until Willingham is back...
  12. Here's the DFA player the Jays are trying to pass through, Kenny Wilson: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=wilson002ken A 24 year old guy with some wheels that has yet to play above AA - he looks like the definition of organizational depth, which is exactly what the Twins should be looking to add. What's the opposite of a log-jam? That's the CF situation in the Twins org. right now.
  13. I like the lineup - first chance to see Fuld in the field, nice to have not Colabello in Right. (He's been great at the plate, don't get me wrong)
  14. Back to the Mastro move - the Twins should try to claim the dude the Blue Jays DFA'd to make room for Mastro. Out of spite, or minor league OF depth, either way.
  15. Is that 36/51 steals/attempts or steals/caught stealing? If it is 51 times caught, maybe he shouldn't be running.
  16. I have that Mike Cubbage topps card. My brother had it autographed . . . by Joe Vavra. It's one of the stranger things anyone has ever given to me.
  17. This is a good upgrade for the major league team, and hopefully Mastro clears the DFA situation and can be depth at AAA.
  18. Wow - that's an unexpected stat for a team that is "rebuilding." I am still curious about how this plays out. If the Twins can claim Fuld and/or trade for him for cash considerations, that would be helpful for depth. Then again, there have to be minor-league level free agents that can play centerfield for New Britain and/or Red Wing, right? It just seems odd that the Twins have Hicks and Mastro as the only primary Center Fielders between the majors and single A. I guess there's not much point in having someone to keep the spot warm for Buxton before he's promoted?
  19. Probably never if you ask Gardy http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN200708190.shtml (I guess this one was a save situation at least...)
  20. I think everyone will be able to pitch on normal rest- there's an off day on Monday
  21. Gibson was saving all the Ks for the end
  22. what are the odds that Gibson throws a complete game? It would be nice to save as many bullpen arms as possible for game 2...
  23. Has Fuld been placed on waivers yet? The A's have a few days left before they need to do that, right? Conceivably an interested team could trade for Fuld before he is placed on waivers but still in DFA limbo - for instance, the Astros would be able to claim Fuld before the Twins could, so if the Twins wanted Fuld badly enough they might consider offering a trade prior to the start of the waiver period.
  24. To acquire Fuld, the Twins would need to trade for him - what would be a reasonable player to trade for Fuld? could it be just cash or a player to be named later? If we're talking RHP, maybe Jared Burton? Or is that an overpayment for a player that is being DFA'd? What does Oakland need?
  25. Apparently the Twins have infielders playing CF in AA and AAA right now. Maybe it's not a big deal, but on the surface it seems like the Twins could use some organizational filler at CF just to have their personnel playing their primary positions again. That could be Fuld, or possibly a player that is currently unsigned - I think Mastro would possibly make through a DFA situation, and provide depth at AAA if Fuld is added to the 40 (and 25 man) roster.
