Ever since I've had kids (now 5 and 2), we've had a "morning workout" before the opener. Usually involves some tee work and just running around outside on a chilly late-March/early-April morning. Then we get ready to take the LRT downtown. get there when gates open, walk around, take it all in. First concession ALWAYS has to be a hot dog. The 5 year old can down the 1/4lb dog no problem (never been prouder than when he finished his first one). This year, the 5 year old didnt want the tee. I pitched some wiffle balls to him. Hit a few Bombas. Then he helped his 2 year old sister with her hands and feet while using the tee (proud dad moment). For dinner, we had hot dogs and soft pretzels. During dinner, both kids asked why we werent going to the Twins game since we were all wearing Twins shirts/jerseys. Explained as best as we could. They seemed to get it, but were understandably disappointed. In the grand scheme of things, going to a baseball game doesnt matter, but once the pandemic is over, and we get to go to Target Field again, I have a feeling some tears will be shed.
