Thanks for posting these. That looks like so much fun. Clyde is a great guy too. Truly respects and reveres the game and its history. Plus how he got the job in the first place is a good story.

I remember Berrios in a post game interview after his first career win, and basically saying "only 299 more to go".

The only good thing that came from the advisory board was at the end as a "thank you" we got a poster of the last out/celebration of the '87 Series (acutally) signed by Oliva, Blyleven, Laudner, Newman, Hrbek, Berenguer, and TK. That was cool. but yeah, otherwise, it was a way for them to gauge the mood for moves they were going to make regardless, rather than use input to change decisions.

I was told that because our seats are already cheaper per game than individual seats, and we dont pay fees, the 19% off is still more expensive that our seats. I havent done the math, but I felt like that is a BS answer, because all that means is the mark up on individual tickets is huge.

Agree with wsnydes. My prices havent gone up since last year, but certainly the other perks have been eroded away. Again, I get why Met club was replaced, but there was nothing to replace it. I was on the Season Ticket Holder advisory board when they announced no more hard paper tickets for STH. There was outrage, and most of the time was spend brainstorming ideas for different things to do send to us instead of the hard tickets that come before the season, because they know how people enjoy that feeling when we see the box come (think about that scene in Fever Pitch). Anyway, we came up with different physical things to mail, or experiences, or anything that they could do to compensate for losing that experience of getting the tickets. Then at the last meeting of our rotation, we were told we were getting nothing because "it wasnt in the budget". That didnt sit well with a lot of people, me included. Along with what Wsyndes said, I know STH used to get all the bobbleheads for the season automatically, but now we get the "opportunity" to pay more to get different giveaways. We used to get a day when you could go on the field near the end of the season and take photos (which we always used for our Xmas cards), but even that hasnt happened for 2-3 years. For a year or two, when I would renew, I would get something in the mail from my rep saying thanks and a signed ball (I got Berrios and Perkins), but then I got the same letter along with one of the kid's giveaway jerseys, then this year, just the letter. Just FYI, Im not complaining about these, just giving examples of the erosion. Having Twins season tickets have been one of 3 lifelong goals/dreams Ive had. I dont have any plans of not renewing. I do it because I love baseball and sitting at the ballpark, not for the perks. I think as attendance levels factor in less and less into their revenue stream, and corporations buy the suites and high priced season tickets, they will continue to pinch pennies with less regard for the "average" fan.

Exactly what my wife and I were talking about last night. Its not like Joe is moving out of MN anytime, so no rush to get it done before he moves south. The only games that will be even close to sell outs will be Opening Day and now, whatever day they do this ceremony. Even the announcement seemed a little rushed, why do it the week before Xmas? why not wait until the 2nd week of Jan, when theres nothing going on, and itll get more people excited for Twinsfest. All that being said, Joe deserves this, and if he is ok with it being this season, great.

I expect there to be a pretty steep learning curve this season, so Im not expecting much in early 2019, but hopefully they have a good finish to the season and 2020 we are truly competitive. I dont look forward to our first losing streak and all the old-school nay-sayers talking about how this approach doesnt work.

The clear bag policy makes me angry for a few reasons 1. I have 2 kids, 4 and 1 (during the 2019 season), and I need snacks and toys and books for the 4 year old to occupy him in between TC pregame and the mascot race and the "baseball song". And I need diapers, bottles, etc for the 1 year old. hard to fit all that in arbitrarily small bag. 2. As someone mentioned, sometimes you need to bring hats, gloves, blankets for games. 3. MNUFC has the clear bag policy, and THEY STILL GO THROUGH THE BAGS with their little wooden dowel, so it doesn't speed anything up. (at least MNUFC had the sense to give their STH a bag with their tickets, so it wasnt seen as another profit opportunity.) 4. Like many others said, this is discriminatory against a large number of people. 5. I dont believe the "This is the world we live in now" argument. All I'll say about that is, there are other ways to protect the populace that don't involve clear PVC bags.

My father-in-law, who was a minor league ump for years in the 60s and 70s, and a STH since '88. Who sounds like Bert, Jack Morris, and John Smoltz when it comes to the modern game will surely hate this hire. Just like he hated the Rocco hire, and every move Falvey-Levine have made. like Chief said in both threads: They certainly are certainly going all in with their philosophy for the team. I hope it works out.

I saw on Twitter (cant remember who posted it) that this is like seeing your dad cry. Joe has always been so stoic and even-keel, that seeing him get emotional is tough. I shouldn't have watched that live at work.

Im curious when you guys start working on it. It has to be a ton of work, and to get it out during the WS is pretty impressive.

This is my theory: he knows what hes going to do, which I think is retire. He will tell Molitor before the last series (but probably not teammates). When (not if), he gets on base on 9/30, he is pulled for a pinch runner (like VMart). He gets a standing O. Mauer doesnt want a big farewell tour or big fanfare, but he understands that the fans want their chance to say goodbye and thanks. Or I could be 100% wrong. who knows.

As a Spurs fan, I object to your photo choice. #WengerOut As a Twins fan, I agree with the rest. My feelings will be very different come TwinsFest, when I wont be able to contain my excitement that baseball is returning. but now, 2019 feels like it will be closer to 2018 than 2017 (and I dont mean just numerically).

On the radio pregame Cory asked Molitor about the sliding thing. Molitor's response was basically: if you practice sliding you over think and it wont be as natural, and they hoped his baseball instincts would take over in a game and a slide would be fine. not excusing it or agreeing with the reasoning, just saying what the manager said.
