  1. My thought was "oh man, thats a shot, I dont think even Buxton can get that". You'd think I would have learned this late in the season.
  2. I know it was low leverage, but it was nice to see Perkins pitch effectively. Im sentimental, but I want him to be an effective pitcher again, even for a short time.
  3. Heres a discussion I had with friends and family: Mauer is a no-doubt Twins HoFer, but does #7 get retired? The only number that is retired that isnt in the national HoF (29,3, 34, 28) or won World Series (14, 10) is Oliva #6. Personally, I think 7 should be retired, like said above, a lot of people didnt appreciate what was happening for many years.
  4. Like before, will there be an ticket-less option if we already have tickets?
  5. I had heard that, and technically I think, his dad is a ballerino... ;-)
  6. Do you happen to know, if Ive already bought the book, can I bring that copy in to get autographed or do I have to buy it from Moon Palace?
  7. Im doing the Green Line triple header this weekend (Twins at 1pm, MNUFC at TCF at 4, then getting to the Saints game a little late, 5pm). Not much else to say, just excited for it.
  8. I 'member. I was at those games. it was awesome. so was staying at the same hotel as the team, and my son meeting most of the team and taking pictures.
  9. "online niche content can be quite difficult to monetize and frankly it doesn't help that the Twins have lost 90-plus games in four of the five years since we've launched." So, you guys are to blame! But seriously, thank you to everyone involved with TD.
  10. So...is he Jonah Hill? or who was he in Moneyball? /s
  11. no one better vote for Skeeta. If you ever cheer for a mosquito in any way, shape or form, I hate you... Go Bullseye! (from my hometown of Roseville!)
  12. The shirts are awesome, but we are going to feel even sillier when the Twins finish with 99 losses.
  13. I have a half season ticket plan. If I ever buy other games, like opening day, I pay the extra money to have real tickets mailed to me instead of the "print-at-home" option. I have an 18 month old son, and when he grows up, I want to show him the ticket stub from his first game, among other games that he has gone to.
  14. Total semantics, but TR had throat cancer (squamous cell can be skin or otherwise). it doesnt really matter, but it was more of a battle than just skin cancer.
  15. Cody, where did you stay? and how far from the stadium did you go? I lived in omaha for 4 years, and other than the 2 weeks for the CWS, that area is pretty dead (although it has changed since I moved I'm sure). Omaha is so spread out with not much to do other than the zoo and the CWS. Just wondering what your thoughts on the town are.
  16. I feel bad for Perk, I always liked him, but I'm afraid he might be done for good. crappy way to go out, if thats what happens. On another note, it seems like every aspect of the Twins organization is catching flack, maybe except for the medical staff. They need much, much more criticism. It seems like there are a lot of injuries that get misdiagnosed and then turn out to be much worse than initially thought. I get that medicine is an inexact science (I'm a physician myself) but this is ridiculous Maybe other teams have this happen too, I dont follow them closely enough to know, but it does seem like the medical staff for the Twins misses an awful lot.
  17. Nice work. but it took me 2 hours to read it since I stood up and applauded after each sentence.
  18. 2007, My future (at that time) in-laws had come up from Iowa for the groundbreaking ceremony for TF, but due to the 35W bridge collapse it was postponed, along with the game that night. I was moving to Omaha for school the next day, so we decided to go out for a nice dinner at the Capital Grill in downtown. While sitting and eating, I notice Torii Hunter and his family at the table next to us. I tell my wife, and when he gets up to leave, she goes over and asks him to come say hi to our nephew (9 at the time), who is a huge Twins fan. He was super nice, said hi, took pictures, etc. BUT then as he was leaving, my wife thanked him again, and he said no problem, then tapped her butt, like a ballplayer butt tap, nothing malicious about it. My wife comes back and says "Torii Hunter just tapped my butt!" That's my most memorable moment meeting a player.
  19. Absolutely write a book! ps include a CD with some Starship on it too.
  20. I was at the game when they announced it. everyone got really quiet when they started "Attention ladies and gentlemen..." then as they continued, you could tell people started to realize what was about to be announced. When they finally stated Dozier was named to the ASG the place went nuts. My wife started to cry, which seems like an over-reaction, but whatever. It was a cool moment that was well-deserved and overdue.
  21. I could never give up watching/listening/going to Twins games for a championship. I enjoy that too much. I would take a decade of 90-100 losses for a championship. Bad baseball is still better than no baseball. ETA: I would also have my Twins tattoo scrapped off with a dull knife for a championship for which my family and I were in attendance.
  22. Im ok with Torii's comment for one reason, to quote Yogi: 90% of the game is half-mental. I want players to believe they are still at their peak, but at the same have some realization that adjustments need to be made. At the same time, I don't understand the need to insult those that use advanced stats.
  23. I think Marney Gellnar is what the FSN Girls 'should' be. Marney knows her stuff, seems to legitimately enjoy her job and the games she attends. Im usually not a huge fan of "sideline reporters", but there is absolutely no need for the FSN girls.
