  1. The Jays were rumored interested before. I assume any deal with them would start with Reese McGuire. Any interest at all in having Liriano return, with salary relief? I always heard the Twins liked his attitude. Could he be a mentor to young hurlers?
  2. When I caught in High School, our Coach relayed every pitch to me from the dugout. My son is as Prep now and his coach calls them too.
  3. I'm curious if someone in the dugout is calling pitches for the Twins hurlers. I find it curious that in Santiago's last six starts for the Angels, he surrendered a total of 8 earned runs. In his first three with the Twins, he's allowed 15. Poor execution by our starting pitchers can't completely explain their overall suckitude. Does coaching or scouting bear an equal amount of the weight?
  4. I can't help but wonder about that too. I'm thinking the Twins really were interested in Reese McGuire, and may still be.
  5. Toronto now has two highly regarded catching prospects in Reece McGuire & Max Pentacost. The former is a defensive whiz with uncertain offensive potential, while the latter has a superior bat, but is recovering from surgery and currently limited to DH duties. I' not sure if he'd clear waivers, but Santana was on The Jays radar at the deadline Maybe something could be worked out involving them.
  6. I see Tyler Jay threw an inning out of the pen the other day. With about 90-innings pitched on the season so far, they're not already shutting him down as he transitions into a starter, are they?
  7. The problem is none of the contenders has a need for Dozier. Our best bet is to move him in the off-season to someone who has optimism for 2017.
  8. Since Lucroy rebuffed the Indians, I'd offer the Tribe Suzuki & Palka for hot prospect, Francisco Mejia. Go with Centeno, Murphy & whatever cast-offs they can for a year or two until he's ready.
  9. Two time MVP for a team that played 78 games under .500 in four seasons. Veterans who are experienced winners are valuable on a youth-laden team. Dozier and Plouffe are decidedly not in that class. Every AB Dozier takes away from Polanco hurts the rebuild.
  10. Think he'll need one or two more solid outings to generate much desire. He will easily clear waivers due to his contract. If not, thank you to whoever claims him. I suspect if the Twins are able to move him, they will eat at least half of the remaining salary (which they would gladly do.)
  11. He's only caught 41 games this year, but he's thrown out 19 of 37 base stealers. I'm probably in the camp of moving him to AAA and calling up Murphy.
  12. More and more convinced that the entire coaching staff needs to go. I'll say it again, we need Ozzie to chew these guys butts and teach them how to play!
  13. Thank you, Brock. That's what I was trying to say. I was just saying it very poorly.
  14. Those signings, along with Willingham & Pelfrey deals are what I consider 'The Plunge.' Combined, they have netted single good seasons from Willingham & Hughes, and little else.
  15. Sorry, first I've heard about a Park wrist injury. My point was that it was a $25mil gamble on a player at a spot where we already had several cheaper yet risky options. I hope Byung-ho makes me eat my words, believe me. I'm probably just frustrated that after steering clear of the Free Agent pool for 30+ years, the Twins are finally taking the plunge but seem completely unable to swim.
  16. Does anyone know if the $10mil or so posting fee for Park was paid to the KBO up front, or is it spread out over the length of his contract? Does it just represent another poorly spent $15mil for this season, and $25mil over the contract that they could have spent loading up on mid-level salary arms in hopes that some would click, like Kintzler & Abad. When you consider they already had cheaper options for Park's AB's in Vargas & Arcia, plus Sano if the whole RF thing didn't work (it didn't), it just seems like a glaring example of why TR had to go.
  17. My coach's always said the throw was further from SS than 3B.
  18. Santana and Dozier to Bosox for Moncada. Brian could play 3B and put a lot of dents in the monster. Shaw and Holt are butchers at third, maybe Boston would go for it. Okay, Pipe Dream.
  19. Since Anthony allegedly has Carte Blanche to do what he thinks is right, I hope he's bold and dumps Nolasco and just eats the salary. We're stuck with the salary anyway, no need to put up with his continuing suckage!
  20. I'd love to see Santana go to the Orioles in exchange for the young catcher, Sisco. I'm sure there would have to be other pieces or financial concessions made to make it happen, but his hitting numbers are impressive.
  21. I'll get the ball rolling. Cubs Assistant GM Randy Bush. Retained by Theo Epstein after serving as Interim GM for the Cubs when Hendry left. Obviously a former Twin, who seems to specialize in the scouting aspect of things for the Cubs. The Cubs have done well in amateur scouting of late, and must be doing well with advance scouting based on their success on the field the past two years. I can't help but think scouting and development are two areas that the Twins have really struggled with of late. Thoughts on Randy or other candidates?
  22. I wondered about that. I believe Javier just turned 17, and the Twins seem reluctant to bring Latinos to the states until they turn 18. Is there a minimum age in the GCL? I saw be have a couple freshly minted 18 year olds on the roster.
  23. I saw he was pulled from a DSL game several days ago and has not returned to the line-up. I assume he's injured. Anyone heard any confirmation or severity?
  24. I'd try to move Nunez while his value is at it's peak. The Jays, Orioles, Yankees, Dodgers, Nats & Mets are all contenders who could use an assist with infield depth. Eduardo is a Top 20 OPS guy this season with 14 steals. Just once, I'd like to see the Twins move someone before their value plummets and we let them walk for nothing.
  25. I forgot to mention that in the cases of Plouffe and Dozier the main benefit would be addition by subtraction. Each have been allowed over 2500 MLB AB's and have hit .245 & .239 respectively. The only advantages they can currently offer over Sano and Polanco, are experience and defense. Their experience has come during one of the worst 5-year stretch's in club history and lest we forget, neither was a defensive whiz when they were first awarded starting jobs. To me, every start and every AB they get is hurting the future of the franchise.
