  1. I love this guys defense! Saw him a few weeks back, and he is very solid behind the dish. Season average up to .247. Only 20-years old. Great size, too. Maybe, just maybe our long term answer at backstop in a few years. I've linked a video from his milb page; http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=271463683&sid=milb
  2. Sorry. Not promoted. Ejected. Got hit on the hand on a check swing, the ump ran him when he showed him the bruise. Dougie got ran too. Not in the 2nd game. With our luck, probably broke his hand.
  3. Kepler pulled from 1st game tonight after reaching in all 3 PA's. Not in line-up for nightcap. Promotion? ... Anyone?
  4. Sano must be the 3B for the Twins in 2016, and going forward. He will be an elite offensive threat at a position that must provide production above 'league average,' if you want to contend. Plouffe has become serviceable, at best. Moving him to another position is pointless, because his numbers would be sub-standard at 1B or a corner outfield spot. We are committed to Mauer at 1B, no matter what. Let's aim higher at 3B, LF, RF & DH. We have cheaper options with more potential than Plouffe already in uniform. Why keep him around? At best, he's a #7 or #8 line-up hitter on a contending team. His only value is at 3B, and we've got better.
  5. I posted in another thread that the Twins would be wise to convince Jim Thome to take a role with the organization as a Roving Instructor. He could work specifically with the sluggers in spring training and at whatever in-season schedule he was willing to commit to. The guy had a .402 career OBP in a 20+ season MLB run by simply understanding that pitchers were afraid to pitch to him and try to make them throw strikes. He still had plenty of swing from the heels misses, but they were usually strike pitches. Sano appears to have a similar mind-set, but obviously still has some lessons to learn.
  6. Tulo would have been a great #3 hitter behind Dozier & Mauer and ahead of Sano.
  7. With any luck, McClendon will bring in 'Wild Thing' again.
  8. Just walk him for eff's sake! Of course he's swinging 3-0!
  9. Pelfrey's practically giving me chubby. He might even have another inning in him before he implodes.
  10. Thank God we're not facing King Felix this series! We're already making two guys with 5+ ERA's look like they're wearing his magic underwear. Let me correct myself. Their ERA's were above 5 when they came into town, looks like they'll be much lower when they leave. Hit the Effin' ball!
  11. Today's transactions; Santana to Rochester Polanco to Chattanooga Presumably so each can play SS everyday. Plouffe & Jepsen activated.
  12. Jermaine Palacios took his .421 average to E-Town today.
  13. Where's my boy, Mat Batts? Also, Jermaine Palacios is gonna hit his way onto this list soon.
  14. That's one of our veteran leaders folks! Four pitch walk to the rook, then you go after a sinker-ballers 1st pitch at the knees for a DP. First move of the off-season has to be to trade that stiff. We will never seriously contend with a .250, 15-20 HR guy in the heart of our order. That's his ceiling folks. Stop kidding yourselves that he's a keeper.
  15. A Especially one who's hitting .111! Is anyone really surprised?
  16. Can we please, please, please move Pukefry to the pen now? I don't care if he's not comfortable in that role. For what, $5mil + per year, he can suck it! He clearly doesn't have the stuff to face the same batters more than once in a game.
  17. Of course, the frustrating thing about waiting until August is that we're losing games now that we need to win.
  18. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the Twins stand pat. At best, they send a low valued prospect or cash to Atlanta for AJ and perhaps a similar type outlay for another low impact arm for the pen. At best Benoit, but I don't think will get into a bidding war for anyone.
  19. I wouldn't waste any more thought or effort on SS now that Tulo is out of the picture. Going into 2016, a serviceable option will arise from a 3-way contest between Escobar, Santana & Polanco. Each has their own strength & weaknesses, but if one can emerge to be at least consistent, they'll do fine. Our biggest priority's are the bullpen and finding a productive catcher. I'm convinced both will need to be addressed from outside of the organization. I'm not very confident that either can be resolved for this season. I hate too say it, but the prudent approach may now be to stand pat and pursue trades or FA's over the winter.
  20. Not only would the DBacks jump all over that, they would send TR a Christmas basket filled with the finest meats & cheeses annually, until he shuffles off this mortal coil! No thanks!
  21. As posted in another thread, the Twins most comparable player may be Gonsalves. Both were early 2013 picks with similar assents. Gonsalves is a LH with a better K-rate. No way would I deal him for Clippard, who will certainly test the FA waters this winter.
  22. The A's sent $1mil to the Mets, as well. Personally, I wouldn't give up Gonsalves. Too much upside. Too much to give up for a rental. Clippard will hit the market this winter, but probably will look to close somewhere.
  23. I too don't think it hurts him to stay in AA, where he's raking. The main thing is that he plays somewhere in the OF, everyday. Call him up for a taste in September.
  24. Could this guy be a fast-mover? Tremendous numbers in the year plus since he was drafted in the 22nd round out of UC-Berkley. I've heard he tops out around 90, but has a funky Neshek-like delivery. Anybody got an 'eyes on' report?
  25. Of the potential pick-ups for the pen, the only target I'd go after hard is Boxberger. Still young and controllable, he would be the shutdown compliment we so desperately need. He would be costly though. Say, Polanco, Rogers & Reed. See if that gets it done.
