  1. The fact that Abad is only 30 and cheap, in addition to being left-handed and effective are exactly what make him a valuable commodity. He and Nunez would each warrant a valuable, albeit not MLB ready return. Plouffe, despite his decidedly mediocre production and track record could bring a high-risk, high-reward type because he can be non-tendered by any buyer after the season. The only chance of unloading either Santana or Dozier, is if their performance begins to return to their norms. Especially in Santana's case, a financial commitment would be required on the Twins part.
  2. Alright, alright, ...Ozzie is a bit too much. But seriously, it's time to do something. I suppose Dougie is next in line, but I wouldn't mind fresh blood with a new perspective. Wasn't Torey Lovullo or Demi Lovato or someone a hot candidate last time?
  3. I was joking when I suggested this last month, I'm not joking anymore! This team has no juice at all. Molitor's low key, funeral director approach may have worked on a young, transitioning roster if he'd had a track record of managerial success. But he don't. We need to get someone in here who will get these guys playing with passion and fire. Make the game into a first trip to Vegas, instead of a weekly Bunion scraping at the Podiatrist. I'd dump the whole staff, as well. It probably means the rest of 2016 will be a dumpster fire, but even that is preferable to the smoldering landfill that it is now.
  4. I'm not saying Park has been a disappointment or anything. I'd move him because he may have some value and we have younger, cheaper players to assume his AB's (Arcia, Grossman, Rosario & Vargas.) One could argue that it would be nice to have an older, veteran leader around to mentor our young line-up, but that's not Parks role as a total newcomer to American baseball himself. As it sits right now, I would literally give away Dozier, Plouffe and Hughes/Nolasco/Santana to anyone who'd take them. Perhaps Nunez or Park could net us someone capable of catching in the big leagues in the next few years.
  5. I agree with most of that. I'd trade Park instead of optioning him. The Mets are down both Wight and Duda. Perhaps they'd have interest in Park or Plouffe or both. Bottom line, FIRE SALE!
  6. Can anyone realistically explain why a guy who's hit .210 since last seasons All-Star break is our #3 hitter? I can't figure out why he's even playing, when we have Polanco as an option. Dozier is without a doubt, my least favorite Twin.
  7. I don't think it's his managing. It's his unwillingness respect the chain of command and keep his mouth shut.
  8. How many effing chances does Dozier get to prove he doesn't give a damn about winning, when we have a more than capable replacement on the bench? I'm livid!
  9. OZZIE!!!!!
  10. Wasn't he supposed to pour fastballs right over the heart of the plate? Sounds like a good plan to me.
  11. Did he really just send Arcia in to PH vs. a lefty? Now he'll put Mastro in CF anyway. I think he my truly be in over his head.
  12. The main problem with trading Plouffe right now is there are a very limited number of suitors for him. Of the contenders, only Washington (Rendon), the Dodgers (Turner) & Baltimore (JJ Hardy) might consider him an upgrade over what they already have. Except for Houston, everyone who could use him is in the same boat we are, looking for young talent not dealing it away.
  13. Swihart alone will never net a legitmate #2 starter, he's far from a sure thing. Gibson would be more than enough. The Red Sox traded Yoenis Cespedes for Rick Porcello and he's done very well under John Farrell & Carl Willis. I'd bet they feel they could have similar results with Kyle.
  14. MLB Trade Rumors opine that the Sox would be willing to package him for a #2-type starter. Would Gibson, Nolasco or Hughes work in some fashion, or be worth giving up? I'm thinking Santana, Berrios and Duffy have to make up 60% of our rotation from here on out.
  15. It has to start with Starting Pitching. Let's hope Duffy can go on a streak like he had to end 2015.
  16. Looks like Plouffe re-injured his oblique or whatever. Either that or he just doesn't give a sh*t.
  17. At this point, I don't know that Doz would bring that much. To bad our staff couldn't make a move last winter when the Cubs, Mets, Nats & Yanks were all bringing in new 2B and Brian's All-Star season still had the illusion of luster. I used to compare him to Dan Uggla, but that's not fair. Uggla had six productive years before he fell off the map. Dozier is far short of that.
  18. Polanco got pulled before the end of last night Red Wing game. Hopefully to catch a plane to Chicago and not because he too got hurt. With Escobar likely headed to the DL and with Dozier's tweaked whatever, Jorge better get a real chance this time. He is and has been in everybody's Top 100 for a while now. Which is something Dozier, Escobar, Nunez or Santana could never say. What's the point of being dead last in the league if you can't give a legitimate prospect an extended shot?
  19. Tomorrows line-up vs. Pelf, or I quit; CF-Santana 2B-Polanco 1B-Mauer 3B-Sano RF-Arcia DH-Park SS-Escobar or Nunez C-Suzuki LF-Rosario
  20. Steal or Hit & Run? Either way smart move when the batter has 2 strikes and whiffs 140+ per season.
  21. Santana needs to bat lead-off and play CF until Buxton takes it from him. He needs to bunt once per game to keep the infield drawn in so his slaps will continue to sneak through. I think it's getting easier for the young Latin players on the team because we've got nice contingent, roughly the same age to support each and challenge each other. Hopefully veterans like Ervin and Nunez will guide them through the day to day they will thrive.
  22. How do we know Polanco's not ready yet? He's been a consistent, .288 career hitter in the minors. Dozier hit .298 over his minor league career. The big difference is that when Dozier took his 1st AB at Elizabethton in 2009, he was the same age that Polanco is right now. I should have titled this thread, 'Start Polanco for a Week.' IMHO he's better suited to hit in front of our middle of the order and at 7-15, it's time to find out. We already know Dozier can bat #1 or #2 on a 90+ loss team.
  23. OK, OK, I'll grant I may be overreacting a bit in suggesting a week on the bench. The whiff in the bottom of the 9th with the tying run on 2nd base set me off a bit. I'd still like to see what Polanco could do with a regular role in the #2 hole, and 2nd base is probably his best position. Dozier simply doesn't reach base enough, and strikes out too much to hit ahead of Mauer, Sano, Park, Arcia & Plouffe (?). They could form a pretty dangerous heart of the order, especially with runners on.
  24. To me there never was any doubt that Sano should be at 3rd, regardless of Plouffe's status. Trevor is at his best, a league average 3rd Baseman. Miguel however, could be slightly sub-par defensively at 3rd and still be Elite at that position. I have a hard time with what seems to be blind loyalty to guys like Plouffe & Dozier, who's only real production has mainly occurred during one of the worst stretches in team history.
  25. Let's see what Polanco can do for a week. Dozier has no interest in playing the role this team needs from him. It's beyond time to see what Jorge can do.
