I am a huge fan of moneyball & although they were adament about SBs being a bad move.......we dont have the power to back up NOT running.

I agree that base running is separate from speed.....but this team doesnt have any team speed. DSpan is considered one of the fastest guys on this team & that is enuff said (till Revere gets here). The Twins now play station to station. Speed helps to turn a single into a double & double into triple BUT they dont do that as reflected in the low TBases of the team. Im also a believer that you wont see Revere steal as many bases as he can as Gardy just isnt the running mgr he is given credit for. This is a powerless team & they need to advance guys via SBs so they dont need 3 singles to score a run IMO.

Another solid start for BJ today......7IP 10h 3er 3k ND......35IP in 5 starts, very nice. He is showing he can be an innings eater despite his lack of velocity. Anyone think he will get a solid AAA shot this year or not??

Most team goes one or the other & the good teams have a nice mix of both....current Twins have neither. Twins rank 23rd in steals with 21, 26th in attempts with 28. Powerwise... 28th in HRs w/28, 27th in TBs w/524. What are the Twins & what are they lookin towards in the future. 2011 22nd in SBs w/92......2010 26th in SB w/68....09 18th w/85.....2008 12th w/102.....07 9th w/102 2011 28th in HRs w/103....2010 19th in HR w/149...09 13th w/172...2008 29th w/111.....07 29th w/111 We are as slow as we are powerless at plate. Gardy has the rep as a guy who likes to run, but he doesnt. We have gotten slower every year and have never really improved the power...which we never had. Everyday players needs 1 of 5 attributes IMO......power/speed/BAve or OBP/defense/flexibility.....more the better We have way too many with just 1 or even none.

we'll look back on this but I am shocked at how conservative most are (YES I know its the Twins) but this winter when he's a top 10 BAmerica prospect....the team is gonna get SOOO much heat about getting him up here......this is ALL contingent on him playing well the rest of this season & esp after his Ft Myers promotion (TRyan has already said 2wks ago he'd like Sano to get a couple more wks in Beloit....which leads me to a June promotion). Easy to be conservative when you are good.....very hard when you are horrible.

Another great start from the 24 yr old today. 6IP 3h 1er 3bb 8k ND. How the organization has handled him is baffling. He finishes the 2010 season @ AAA makin 9 starts & has a 3.98ERA & .234BAA in 52IP w/47k 13bb on a terrible ROC team. So they reward by adding him to the 40 man roster BUT making him go back to AA?????? In what I call the butterfly effect, he effectively loses the whole season from a broken bone on a comebacker.......if he's @ AAA where he belonged/deserved...there is no injury & he continues to develop. He then gets taken off the 40 man roster as we instead add retreads like Marquis, Gray & Maloney & is sent to AA for 3rd yr. Gets put in bullpen & is DRILLED with 9h 9er 2bb in 1 IP between his 2nd/3rd appearances. Lost season/career correct??? He's put back into the rotation...... 6 starts 31.2IP 20h (.180BAA) 5er (1.42ERA) 33k 13bb Are these not numbers worthy of a promotion after Diamond/DeVries/Walters??? Instead DThompson & (coming up) Matt Maloney get starts in ROC As one of organizations only strikeout/hard throwing pitchers......why is he not considered a better prospect???

I hate AJ because he plays for the SOX not because he left here. Loved him here/will when he retires. Not now. He's a jackass to most people also, there is plenty to not like him about. He is overrated as a player IMO, get more props for playin everyday.....but it wears him out IMO. -
I think you can expect more from him than that.....if he's healthy of course.....as he's on the same timetable as SStrasburg & he did AA/AAA starts before getting MLB starts. He will need to be added to 40 man roster this winter, so they may as well recall him in Sept for a free look. Assume he'll also get som AFL time.

He will be with the Twins by next July if he continues to play well. Isnt right now. Assume he will get to Ft Myers by June/July & start next year in New Brit.....again if he plays well at those stops. Mn knows they are being watched as other 19/20 yr olds that are comparable are already in the majors

the difference between Walters & Blackburn is that Walters is able to strike out hitters at a decent clip thru his minor league career & brief major league (counting St L) career. This can get ya out of a jam easier obviously....and Im fine with him as long as he earns it. Nick has earned nothing for 3 straight years.

I had been a big Tosoni fan but his lack of AAA production the last 2 yrs shows he may never be the player he was thought to be. I had actually thought it was possible that Tosoni & Nishi are bothcandidates to be taken off the 40 man roster if the spots are needed, so Im surprised but not shocked.

I didnt say cut him now, just wait and its also not about what he did today.....more of how he has done for his career. Same with Matt Maloney. Just wait, he'll deserve his DFA eventually.

1 xbp hit in 92 AAA Abs.....4 in 3 games this weekend. Crazy. If he can hit with ANY modicum of power/xbh....he can be useful.

They wont YET, but another bad game or 2 & they will finally turn to Deolis Guerra, not the 28 yr old Slama (who I am a fan of).

Unfortunately they will have a ton of money coming off the books.....Pav/Baker/Marq/Capps/Liriano over 28m, so hell yeah they could go after AND sign Grienke. Problem is why would he sign here when other 'non'-large market teams will have/will spend the $$$ and also be competitive like Cincy, Det, Clev, Col, St Lou, etc

Walter/Diamond/Pavano could all go on regular rest for the CHI series if MN just skips Blackburn's turn with the offday MON (Dick/Bert talking like they wont). I then could see them call DeVries up for Fri's game at home vs DET. Swarzak or Liriano could make one spot start on SAT with Diamond on SUN.....This would get the rotation back to Walters/Pavano/DeVries to go MON-Wed vs CLE with an off day THUR. This would give them a chance to get Hendriks 2 more starts in AAA & then step back into that spot in rotation on that SAT (he would start next WED/MON in AAA). Utilize your off days.

baseball is different than other sports in that regard...tho I also keep an eye on that worst record for the #1 pick as MN needs to hit 100% the next 2 yrs on the draft to rebound.

The top pitcher at the top 3 levels were VERY impressive FRI nite Liam Hendriks with his third solid start went 7 IP (96pitches) 4h 2er 2k 2bb. Could be the guy called up for Blackburn after one more start?? BJ Hermsen continues his dominant season with 7.2IP (76 pitches) 6h 2er 3k Pat Dean also had an excellent game at FtM with 8IP 7h 1er 8k 1bb Could each be promoted at the same time to follow the other up the ladder in the upcoming weeks???

what do you do with the bullpen if a Guerra/Oliveras/Waldrop/Slama were to get called up?? There is nobody pitching poorly enough to get dumped.....and Im not a Jeff Gray fan AT ALL but he is pitching well. If Burnett gets hit hard in a game or 2, then I can see him goin down.
