  1. even with a 4man rotation/75 pitch limit....we would still have Rick Anderson & he trumps anything.
  2. Matt Hauser is an example....24 yr old guy who's been great in Ft Myers for 2 yrs but no promotion when a guy like Edgar Ibarra gets promoted after struggling thru the system.
  3. wasnt sure myself......if it was service time of where you debut or the actual date when you sign. Regardless, Im sure coming off surgery that he would resign to be aroung a team that knows you BUT after next season rehab yr....what does the organization do then??? Torn Labrums can be rehabbed for sure.....or it can be a velocity killer.
  4. Hard to get excited about the 2nd rounder from last yr as this has been a huge disappointing yr after some promise last yr. Looking for a 'bright spot'....he hasnt been as bad in his last 5 starts vs his first 4..... 25IP over those 5st....all 5IP....25h 12er (4.32ERA) 15k 11bb Only 22 but baby steps......
  5. still surprising they would send a 2nd round pick to short season for a 3rd yr after he had success last yr. Hope he can rip thru ELIZ & get to Beloit this yr & get on track for advancement.
  6. their is a train of thought that says the TJ surgery is easier to come back from than shoulder surgery (to maintain velocity at least). Tho, labrum injuries... while not good... are better than rotator cuff surgeries (which you dont hear much about anymore....wonder why??) He's 23 in Aug and only @ Ft Myers.....so I dont know how much longer he can be considered a prospect as ....like Seth says...MN will take it slow with him next yr. Also, he is a 6 yr FA after this yr (signed March 07). Was hopin he coulda been a guy to really shoot thru system this yr, but they are all fallin
  7. Back on the DL with a shoulder. Wonder who's more frustrated......Carlos or MN front office. Came off DL with 2 outstanding outings.....4IP 1h 6K then came 2 bad outings.......2IP 6h 5er finished with 3 great outings ....6IP 3h 8K No walks with 14K in 12IP since the first DL.....had to have the big club interested....leading up to draft, it was published several times how MN has only drafted 2 pitchers to make majors in last 7 yrs & they would love to add Guitierrez to that list (Manship/Slama the 2.....Gibson/Robertson could be Sept calls also) to get some fans/media off their case. Hopefully, Carlos isnt added to the Wimmers/Salcedo/Sollimon list & its just tendontitis type & can be back later this year.
  8. Sorry, but doesnt have to be major league talent for a guy not to be promoted when they have deserved it. Mn does not have the attitude to promote a guy when they have earned it.....they promote when service time dictates it.
  9. My problem with MN is they NEVER (sans Mauer) have recalled a player before their service time dictates it ( 5 yrs for HS). They are not quite as horrible for a college player, but close. Talent evaluation has changed over the past decade and that's why 19yr olds like Bryce Harper & Mike Trout are recalled cause they deserve it, not due to their age. The 2 players Buxton is compared to (BJ/Justin Upton) both made their MLB debut at age 19 also. Miguel Cabrera was 20 & didnt dominate minor league ball when he came up , but their is NO shot the Twins would do the same with Miguel Sano. Basically, I believe, MN tries to develop their players for their minor league system....not their major league system.
  10. Seth, what his injury & when is his ETA back from DL??
  11. the way MN likes to keep average non-deserving players a shot in AAA.....nothing is out of question
  12. cannot offer $6m to him in arbitration......has to be $12m under new rules.Does this change your attitude on this bum?
  13. This.....good riddance & glad he never won in ANA
  14. sollimon, Wimmers, Salcedo......keeps gettin better
  15. what's the story on his shoulder??? Is he good to go right off the bat??
  16. Liriano on the comeback....5 starts 1W 3L 30.1IP 16h 8er (2.37ERA) 35K 12bb is still mentally soft Someone please make us an offer before he regresses
  17. of course give him time....I didnt say give up on him but could anyone find anything remotely positive about his first 2 months??3 months left & his first 10 gms of the month were positive.
  18. Gibson will start his rehab with an inning for GCL on July 10. I am still hoping that he will make his MLB debut (not necesarily as a starter) in Sept.....if July/Aug goes well.
  19. Levi has been nothing short of a complete bust in his first 2 months. Could he be turning it around in June??? 10gms .313/.429/.438 in 32ABs 2 doubles triple 6rbi 7bb 7so
  20. MN can get rid of him if they want. Easiest way to get him to a buyout is to just DFA him. Nobody will claim him & knowing he's not on 40 man roster with no shot at re-reaching majors will make him more willing to head home. After this yr, Chris Hermann, Aaron Hicks, Kyle Gibson all need to be added to 40 man & he will be a casualty.
  21. Seth, you're more connected. How often do the minor league teams fake an injury to create spots?I know players are DLd at start of season to reamain with team till a roster spot opens but I have doubts Lester is hurt.
  22. sounds like the Twins staff missing a broken leg & listing it as a bruise.
  23. Marquis average stuff plays better in the NL where he doesnt have to face the DH & can strategize the lineup as well as him being one of baseballs better hitters gives him an advantage in the NL. 2 small things but when your talent is marginal....it adds up. There were also a couple early season games where Gardy did him no favors by trying to get extra innings out of him when he got thru 6 or so innings with mirrors & it caught up to him numbers wise
  24. what were the corresponding ROC moves as they were 25 active players before the 2 moves?? that includes the promotion of Steve Hirschfield 2 days ago.
