Blackburn is BARELY above Marquis on the talent scale at this stage. 31 yr old guys makin 5.5m are killing this team. Keep him in ROC all yr until he actually earns it.

2-3 with double, HR & walk tonight......needs to pull something more often!! ROC also started all 10 guys tonight with MLB exerience. This just seems so out of the ordinary to me.

Dean....2 days after turning 23.... with another solid effort Sunday goin 5IP 3h 1er 1bb 0k & left with a 4-1 lead. Only went 5IP as he was on 3 days rest after leavin his last start after 3IP due to rain delay. Should be on verge of a callup also.

as a former 40 man guy who throws relatively hard ....for this organization.....if he throws well at ROC, he'll be up in MN.

if its pick up his 9m option in his first yr back from TJ .....NO. Spend the 9m on a healthy reliable FA pitcher. If he's up to signing a smaller incentive deal or a smaller mulit yr deal....yes, he's a solid pitcher on those days when he can pitch (few & far between). Be a solid #4/5 with a potential to be a #2 type.

Lookin at this ROC numbers (impressive) but found something weird. IF he's gonna get called up, he will need to pitch back to back or maybe 3 consecutive days......but they are giving him several days off in between games. Doesnt appear to me this is preparing him for MN Apr 28 3IP....ok, 3IP may need a day or 2 off....gets 3, fine May 2 1.1IP....solid spot to see if he can come back on consecutive nites....gets 2 off, fine May 5 2.1IP....again, can see he needs a day off....gets 2, fine May 8 2.1IP....again, can see he needs a day/2 off...gets 4 May 13 2IP.....can he go back to back here??? gets 3 off May 17 3IP....ok needs day or 2 off.....gets 4 May 22 2.2IP ...day off maybe??? gets 3 May 26 2IP......off till Tue now??? They have him pitching 1-3IP per outing.....but are givin him starter time off in between starts......doesnt seem the way to get him ready for big leagues IMO

Solid article.....also seems like he's not hitting as many comebackers to the mound as last yr........does it list how many he did last yr cause it was sickening.

Starting 10 ALL have MLB experience.....dont remember if Ive ever seen that before (but dont follow other organizations that close) Nishioka Florimon Ramirez Valencia Burroughs Carson Thomas Hollimon Rivera French also have Parmelle & Towles on bench with Dinkelman on DL(when is he back).....Chang the only player with no experience..... Ptiching wise.....Duduno, Dumatrait on DLs....Fien, Hendiks, Maloney, Oliveros, Slama, Thompson, & Vasquez all have MLB time Brendan Wise, Tyler Robertson, Carlos Gutierrez,Kyle Gibson & Deolis Guerra are only non MLB guys (3 of those on 40 man & 4th will be in majors nxt yr). IMO, this is why we have a problem as there are no 'prospects' in AAA......just AAAA type players hanging on (I get it....are a couple but...).

according to Star Trib.....Carlos was activated for Sundays game & is the corresponding move to Manships callup. If they keep Komatsu, there will be another. WIth all the heat they are taking for wasting their #1 pitching picks, IMO if he is healthy & has a good run.....we will see him for nothing else than to prove a #1 pick of theirs made the majors.

problem with the Twins are they dont define the spots, but rather pitch EVERY guy in order rather than utilizing off days to skip the 4th/5th starters. Sometimes depends on how many innings the first couple guys eat up in their starts so their is a strong, full bullpen to utilitze. That said, Blackburn is a guy Id dump today & eat his salary and start over. -
rather find a pitching coach who knows how to run a 12 man pitching staff correctly. Mastoiani will be the guy goin down if this happens. Sooner or later, they need to look at Deolis Guerra for next yr.

Taking ABs away from Ryan Doumit tonight....that's a lil better option than the other 3. Mainly, I take it as a slam on Mauers ability to hande the pitchers.....which the team used to say was a strength of his. I am still of belief that I would rather have Mauer catch 75% of gms & take a day off when needed rather than play everday & catch 50%. -

Didnt see another thread on him personally so..... Tonight 7IP 5h 0er 9k 2bb ......4 very solid starts in row. Could see 4 ROC starters in another week or so IMO. His last 2 starts were horrible.....first 2 were very solid (2nd was marred by horrible Alexi Casilla defense) & his 2011 starts were all pretty decent or at least a pitch or 2 away from having a solid game. Im still a big believer in him & think he & KGibson will be anchors for this staff for the next 5yrs (hopefully also with our #1 pick).

While Ive said also that I agree that speed isnt necessarily SBs......MN ranks in extra bases taken****source Baseball Reference MN is 11th of 14 in AL in XBT with 36%......AL Ave is 39% MN is 28th of 30 in MLB in XBT with 36%...MLB Ave is 41% (NL Average is 42%) they are bad basestealing team as well as a bad baserunning team. Mix that in with no power & you have the MN Twins. Powerwise....MN also ranks 13th of 14th in AL in ISO with .123 with a league average of .154 (Willinham/Morneau/Doumit/Plouffe/Revere only ones above league average) & 26th in MLB (ave of .146). Doesnt have to be homers or steals to be successful

TV crew & interview with Gardy state that Butera is catching Cole tonight instead of Mauer since Drew has worked with him before & they dont want him to have a new catcher as well to think about. Drew has caught him twice in April......13th & 18th ONLY for a total of 12 innings. Mauer is a 3 TIME GOLD GLOVE WINNER......tho that award is a joke on itself. What kind of indictment is this on Mauer's ability to catch anymore as he's started less than half the games this year.

when starting the thread, I was very aware of the SBs being down due to the poor last couple yrs.....thats why I posted the #s from the last few yrs. With the lack of power is why Im on the lack of SB kick. EX. Casilla has ony 6 SBs this yr & when he's on first with 2 out, Carroll out.....gets frustrating not seeing him attempt to get to 2B. We play such a conservative, station to station type of boring ball.....typical of the organizations beliefs tho. Dont see us becoming relevant again till we take an offensive approach.
