  1. Just a terrible terrible decision on him. To not add him to the 40 man was a waste. You should always take care of your homegrown talent before goin out & signing 30some FA's.
  2. He was the Toby Gardenhire of the DET franchise. Isnt blocking anyone yet. YET.
  3. I think Inci-dinky-do is horrible. Alot like Kevin Gorg, knows how to handle the TV duties but knows nothing about what he's talking about. There is about a laugh a nite at Inky's comments on the air. There isnt a problem with the TV tandem being homers if there was one of the pre/post game announcers who would be more realistic. Gladden isnt a great play by play man....but he absolutely will criticize something that is wrong.
  4. My take is if the visiting team is able to juice the ball here, no reason for the excuse making Twins to use the excuse.
  5. Twins have also stated that its his ineffectiveness against lefties that has kept him back (as well as the BBs/velocity). Funny how certain things hold back guys & others are overlooked/but still underperform.
  6. ESPN current park numbers cite as of today, Target field IS 6th in runs scored 19th in HRs 2nd in hits per 1st in doubles 2nd in triples
  7. PJWalters is an interesting pitcher as he's been a strikeout pitcher throughout his minor league career (8.5k/9IP.....735 innings) as well as (7.1k/9IP...51IP) in majors. He's not a hard thrower(87-90mph) but has gotten the job done
  8. Twins are one of the slowest teams in MLB.......hopefully Masto can get us some SBs out there & cause some excitement.
  9. I started the thread & by re-reading it, I shoulda phrased it by asking for guys who throw a 'plus' fastball....93+.........and really I was looking at starting pitchers mainly. Some soft tossers get strikeout while some hard throwers lack strikeouts, so I was mainly looking at arm strength. Bruce Pugh/Dakota Watts are considered 2 of the hardest throwers in the organizations but they cant get anyone out. What are the reports on Caleb Theibar.....looking great but not sure of how he throws.
  10. DeVries has pitched very well in all but one of his minor league seasons & deserves to get the next shot. He should have been put on the 40 man this year OR been invited to training camp after last seasons/AFL success. When he says he touches 94, it means he gets a pitch or 2 to 93 in the game but pitched at 89-91. Im fine with the velocity as long as he gets guys out & he does.
  11. signing of Matt Carson & to a lesser extent Wilkin Ramirez to strengthen the minor leagues have blocked Benson. Now, he has done nothing in AAA to make his case but MN has screwed him by keeping him in AA for 2 seasons. However, if there was a need for him.....AND he plays well in New Brit, they can call him up from there.
  12. gotta look farther into Bromberg's numbers. He started in pen, & was rocked given up 10hits & 9ER in his first 3 appearances....2IP w/2bb oK. Since, 5gms 3 starts 15IP 7h 1er 15k 4bb....pretty sharp to me. 3rd season in AA after having AAA success in 2010, hopefully can move up soon.
  13. If we are gonna call up Mastroianni to play 1B.....why not put Ben Revere over there. Think of the range he would have with that speed.
  14. You want a .200 hitting .250 slugging 3B player over there. Wait am I talking about Carroll or Valencia?? Dont want Carroll over there cept in an emergency. This season is lost & Danny needs to play to see what he's got
  15. Wheeler has been impressive......how hard does he throw?? Any reports on that.
  16. Im guessing David Bromberg is still the hardest throwing minor league starter but he is still in AA after having success in AAA TWO years ago. Believe (Seth knows for sure) he hits 92/93 regularly, which makes him about as good as we got. He has been sharp his last 3 starts.
  17. personally not a fan......rather roll w/Danny & hope he improves
  18. Just gets guys out. Had a very underrated year @ Beloit, leading the lg in IP before his FSL promotion. Basically skipping High A, the team must think highly of him. Wouldnt take much to be the number 1 rated pitching prospect int his organization (of healthy guys).
  19. Depends on whether you want immediate or hopeful future help. I love the prospects named but if I do the deal I want Jordan Zimmerman. Would immediately be out ace & isnt FA bound for 4 yrs (counting this one). They are pitching deep & could spare an arm but are lacking a true CF/leadoff hitter....and we have Revere ready.
  20. Most of us have focused on the name Drew Storen as he was the name mentioned last yr. This yr, he's obviously out. I dont even open up the discussions with WASH w/o Jordan Zimmerman being the guy coming back. 26 yr old RHP, already had TJ surgery (YEAH) & throws over 93mph. He's got 4 yrs (counting this yr) till FA and would immediatley become our ace. This would also allow Ben Revere to step right into CF & not have to worry about a followup concussion.
  21. Pens been fine. Best part of the team. Capps/Burton from the right side & Duensing/Perkins from left side have been solid. Burnett/Gray & Swarzak (bullpen effort only) have been fine.
  22. He's a 31yr old reliever who's been with 4 organizations in last 2 yrs....dime a dozen retread. Only good thing about him is he throws relatively hard (93.5 ave fastball in 99MLB innings) but he doesnt strike guys out while having a tad too many walks (esp this yr). It's not how he's pitching this yr, its what he is over his career. He will eventually give way to Deolis Guerra
  23. First off, I know its not ONLY mph but movement, hence Felix's top speed of only 93 tonite but we have NO strikeout type pitchers Using Fangraphs ROC starters with MLB IP & average fastball speed Scot Diamond 39IP 88.9mph PJ Walters 51IP 88.0mph Darryl Thompson 17.1IP 91.6mph Samuel Deduno 5.2IP 89.6mph Luke French 155IP 86.7mph no MLB data on Cole DeVries Is there nobody here who can throw over 90 I know at one time David Bromberg did, & he has thrown back to back scoreless 5 inning stints with 13 total Ks
  24. Hendrix needs to regain his confidence........numbers dont show it but I think he's pitched well over Sept/April but just missing that one pitch to get him over (not counting last 2 starts....hit hard)
  25. got a feeling that the moves that Gardy is talkin bout is the waivin of Clete Thomas/arrival of Komatsu.
