  1. best thing you can do is NOT listen to KFAN....esp if you want to hear baseball talk. You'll be smarter for it
  2. so only 1 error....what the number of games he has to sit for 'an injury' now????
  3. Righthanded 22 yr old (Aug 17 bday) pitcher was a 4th round pick out of Cal Irvine. First 2 yrs in college uneventful...27gm 4st 2w 2L 37.2IP 50h 35er 8.36ERA 38k 23bb Jr yr took off...15gm all starts 10-2 2CG SHO 103.2 IP 64h 20er 1.74ERA 90k 30bb Spent first pro yr @ ELIZ all out of pen 20gm 20.2IP 11h 2er .87 ERA 36k 5bb Assigned to Beloit, he struggled in April....5gm 4st 1w 2L 20.1 IP 20h 15er 6.64ERA 13k 10bb Next 13 starts have been great 7w 2L 1CGSHO 82.2 IP 74h 26er 2.83ERA 54k 23bb Averaging 6.1 IP per start since May 1....looks like he could be one of organizations best pitching prospects Would like to see more strikeouts 5.87/9innings
  4. What to do with Liam?? 7 shutout innings in getting the win on SAT. 6w in 8starts @ ROC w/53.1 IP 34h (.183BAA) 1.69ERA 43k 14bb Dominating the older players in AAA but cant turn the corner. Feels to me that the big league staff has lost confidence in him (with his numbers, no surprising). Is he a guy who may be dealt as MN organization seems very frutstrated with him....seems absurd with our lack of pitching, but I get a feeling this could happen if he doesnt turn it aroung with his 3rd shot this year (whenever it is).
  5. with 2 scoreless innings SAT to get the W....Pugh is now scoreless in 17.1 IP in AA 8h 8bb 22k....
  6. there were just enough of us yelling for Plouffe to get everyday ABs to show what he can do. There is NO way I give Liriano even a 1yr extension right now....trade him. HOWEVER, after trading him....nothing wrong with looking at him in FA if the money is right.
  7. without Frankie, Butera is again a AAA player.....but who will Gardy appoint to Drew to be his defensive savior after the deal??? My guess for personal catcher will be Blackburn
  8. under no circumstances should they not trade him. However, if they want to resign him in the offseason AFTER dealin him.....got no problem with it. If they dont trade him, I hope he leaves as a FA & MN gets nothing
  9. Aaron tied his career high with his 8th HR Fri nite. His current .429 slgg would be his full season career best & he's 3 SBs away from his career best. Think he's goin under the radar for most fans. Is he finally reaching his potential?? His splits are getting closer to bein legit as against RHP he's not .251/.355/.402 vs LHP.300/.367/.488
  10. 8 relatively solid starts now for Frankie since being reinstated. 49.2 IP 30h 15er 2.72ERA 52k 24bb.....99.25pitches per start He can only screw up a deal 4 more times..... If he woulda started the season like this, would he have gotten an extension???
  11. Luckily we have one of the league's most respected hitting coach to get Justin back on track
  12. Perez released....wow. Hope you guys with more connections can find out the story behind this. He musta kept trying to pull the ball instead of goin the other way........something like that. 24yrs old & .284/.339/.402 since May 1 in 45gms w/6doubles 4hr 23rbi 17k 14bb.......pretty solid numbers to be waived, must be bad.
  13. Another couple promotions due to age.....not performance interesting that the 2 former StPaul Saints moved to AAA very fast
  14. interested to hear that Gardy is gonna give Diamond an extra day or 2 off to start the 2nd half.....would assume the ace, if rested, should start game 1. Scot is at 113.2 IP with a high of last yrs 162 IP. Wouldnt it be more pertenant to keep pitching him & when you're out of it in Sept, shut him down???? Know its only a game or 2 & it doesnt matter, but the message I get out of it is more of what fans/media believe.....Twins have no shot in 2nd half, so why try for the division title.
  15. think Parmelee was very good last yr. He was forgotten about as he redid his swing but was a good average/rbi guy. Joe Benson returned to GCL today for a few days of rehab....when back, do the keep he, Hicks & Arcia together in New Brit...as the OF of the future. What do you do with Evan Bigby then.....definately deserves a promotion in his 3rd AA yr, but with Clete Thomas types in AAA, it makes the point of this thread.....only retreads in AAA.
  16. Morneau's .164Bave w/RISP for the first half killed him as much as the lefties. If he can just adjust that, the runners are there for him to drive in & possibly drive up his value.
  17. When you decide to go with Burnett/Robertson......and rest your 2 best....instead of trying to win w/Burton/Perkins........whatta expect
  18. more so than Liriano, this proves there is a market for Morneau if a GM does his due dilligence I would take that MIA trade in a heartbeat also
  19. No surprise that MN good play since May 7 has come with the team ditching the RF by committee & goin with Ben out there which offsets Josh's defense (which has been very good since April). The difference between last 5 yrs of Cuddy/Kubel in RF vs the early 2012 RFs vs Revere is pretty severe....both from watching the game & from defensive metrics. Kubel/Cuddy were 2 of the games worst defensive OF over a several yr run. Cuddy's arm rep was more a MN thing. He has an above average arm, but was never someone others refused to run on....ala Choo or Suzuki. Best part of Ben's arm is he realizes his limitations & isnt ashamed anymore. Hits the cutoff religiously & quickly....doesnt try to trick the runner into taking the base as players with good arms do. With Buxton, Benson, Hicks all in minors....they are all 3 considered Gold Glove caliber gloves with all around defense....Revere in RF esp & CF probably isnt gonna last long....he will be in his natural LF soon enough.
  20. Plouffe was a little bit of a late bloomer....esp w/power. Parmellee/Benson/Dozier/Valencia/Revere all had very little or no AAA time before their debut This year we'll see Hicks/Hermann/Arcia in Sept straight up from AA also.
  21. Benson back today, batting leadoff for GCL single & caught stealing walk & scored on a Byron Buxton double 2nd time up finished 2-3 w/bb sb....prob stay a wk(???) with AA all start break next Mon
  22. was wondering if there more to the 'benching' as he could just DH & he's sat. More of what I am wondering with the post, is does Harrison get kept 'down' because Sano is ahead of him. What if Harrison goes 15-30 over the next wk w/6HRs....that merits a promotion, but would they with Sano blocking him???
  23. thought Rosario was 5/6wks.....is that considered significant time?? as he was hurt June 12....that's 3 wks, or half over.
  24. pitchers definately still need to use AAA to refine....for the most part. Hitters do get called up from AA more frequently....most of those will eventually need more time, but not much more. Look at BDozier/Parmelee...this is how teams view players & AAA now....few ABs is all they need. I did a post a few wks back showing how many teams stack their rosters with the AAAA types & everyone does it. These arent the prospects anymore (not pitchers).
  25. Ive seen C Evan Gattis linked to Twins in a possible Liriano trade. Very good hitter w/power but more of a DH prospect...ala JMontero
