  1. Nick you stated how the demand will be low, also we need to look at supply. There seems to be plenty of competition at DH which would also effect the urgency for Cruz. Twins seems would be the most urgent to sign him. Although MN has a lot of options there
  2. I appreciate your vision Mat, that we need an upgrade at CF back up that we've been hurting for a long time & has cost us dearly. Almora would be a good fit, although we don`t have a desirable CF back up we have a ton of corner outfielders. So his usefulness is solely CF back up this alone can not justify him to occupy a roster spot. On the other hand, Ketel Marte not only takes care of CF back up, he`d be an upgrade at SS. I'm an advocate of starting Marte at SS & transition Polanco to 2B, where he could blossom into an allstar (not at utility, I don`t think he'd adapt well there). Marte's a great hitter & has an agreeable contract. I agree w/ Andrew that it'd take a little more than Larnach & Enlow but at least it's a great starting point. Marte is worth any trade that doesn`t include essential prospects. SS & CF is the anchor to any defense & should be addressed. Trade is also good for the player who are traded because it gives them an opportunity to start now, not 2-5 yrs. from now if ever
  3. Thanks Nash. Always appreciate your comments & updates
  4. W/ due respect- Kepler, Polanco & Sano all got extended contracts because the FO sees their full potential. This covid nightmare was disastrous to all of MLB & MiLB. Like all nightmares, they should be put behind us & dream of better days & not play any futile exercises. If we would`ve lost them w/o any compensation, that`d be a worse nightmare
  5. Thanks Mat, nice article. Thank you Eddie for all those great memories. Sorry for you being one of the victims of covid. Again wish you well
  6. Agreed, we can`t expect the same results of a juiced ball in 2019 be the same as a non-juiced ball season. A juiced ball favors hitters while a non-juiced ball favors pitchers
  7. 2020 was a terrible season, successful baseball players love routine & try to get in a groove & maintain it. Garver is such a player, the sporadic season was disastrous for him 2020 had many distractions, successful ball player needs to focus & distant himself from these distractions. Kepler was a victim to these distractions & IMO never really was able to distance himself from them. 2020 had many health problems, this category is where Polanco falls into. SS is a very important position & Polanco sees the need & importance & tries to meet that need. The problem is that he`s focusing on playing beyond himself, putting a lot of emotional & physical stress on himself. That stress causes problems. I say he needs to be shifted to 2B, which relieves the emotional & physical stress, then he can relax & be that all star that he's capable of. Much like Brian Dozier Hope these & other problems can be resolved in 2021. My expectations is that they will & we'll have a record season.
  8. Thanks Lucas for bringing this report on Lin. Looks like he can`t hit or field very well, his only forte is his versatility. Unless there is a total transformation, it looks like a waste of time. Something I've advocated for a long is that we really need a quality CF back up & a upgrade at SS, a good hitter would be nice. If we can find some one who can fulfill both functions (which would be ideal), if we can`t then we need to find a person to fill each. The reason for our poor record w/o Buxton & Donaldson is because we can`t field an superior SS & CF back up. SS & CF are too important to throw just anyone
  9. Thank you Vanimal! Chris Taylor would be my lone trade also, it should take a lower prospect. Looking forward to more of your blueprints, things will be awfully boring until after New Years & then it`ll get very exciting
  10. Cruz's leadership is invaluable, we can`t replace it w/ an expensive bat. So if can`t resign Cruz, I agree w/ you that there shouldn't be a set DH but used it to rotate to our strategical advantage & get bats in the line up
  11. We can only hope. They surprised us w/ the Donaldson deal. On top of my list is resigning Cruz, I'd guess they'd try for less. The FO hasn't reacted yet to any real deals (they never do, they wait until the end & get the best deals they can) so I don`t imagine they don't have any set FA they're dead set to sign. I imagine that this year we 'll have a big selection to choose from. We'll see if any these that you selected get signed. I'd guess they go after a overlooked pitcher that they can tweak at a bargain. If they go for an upgrade at SS, I`d put Polanco at 2B rather than utility. Any hole they can`t fill via FA they'll try w/ trades
  12. IMO what the Twins would need most from this group is the BP. So either Bradley or Middleton. I wouldn`t worry about Middleton w/ his TJ surgery. Now days pitchers come back from it better than ever, especially since his velocity is still up there.
  13. My fear is he could go to any of our competition in AL central. Away from them I agree about MIA w/ the Rowson connection or PIT w/ Sheldon. It could be any team that`s familiar w/ him & want some credibility. I believe he`ll end up w a team that wants to win & is weak at power corner OF. My guess is CWS
  14. I believed the FO did their best to work out what they believed to be a reasonable offer to all that were in arbitration. Also I believe the FO are confident that they have found many ways where they can maximize their options & not to go after deals like Snell.
  15. I`m scratching my head over that one too. Also why they went after Ian Gibaut and Brandon Waddell, and they signed Derek Law. But they must know what they are doing. The players who agreed to terms did so w/o any problems. Let`s see what they got up their sleeves. There must be a lot of options they have seen out there to let Wisler go.
  16. Great article Cody, one that is dear to my heart. There is no doubt he should be there. He had the stats to be MVP 2x but was snubbed. His knee injury slowed him down to get the HR, hits & defense totals that he could`ve had. Also they should consider his loyalty, being only w/ the Twins & years of coaching which shows his love for the sport Although I`ve never met him, he seems like a very nice man. He deserves to join the other Twins in the HoF for some time now. Hope he doesn`t get snubbed again
  17. On "Gleaman & the Geek" , Gleaman stated that Ken Rosenthal wrote an article about each team's must sign player's extention. For MN it was Eddie Rosario, WOW I'm sure that blew the socks off many Twins fans. There are many Rosario haters in our camp which influences the rest of us to relinquish the fact that Rosario will be out right released. On "Gleaman & the Geek" it was not discussed why Rosenthal wrote this & I haven`t read it. But it made perfect sense, even though Rosario`s stock is not worth very much to many Twins fans, it is still worth something to the rest of MLB. So why let Rosario go for nothing, w/o any control where he goes (he could likely go to CLE, CWS, KC or Det, where he could very likely make MN pay dearly). If we make signing Rosario to a team friendly extension a priority, we have him to start the season & later available to get someone in trade & we can control where he goes.
  18. Please forgive me terrydactyls, if my English has offended you. I assure you that it wasn`t my intention. I have lived most of my adult life away from the US, the things I miss most about being away are family, friends, Minnesota lakes & Twins. Twins Daily has been a great outlet for me. I try my best to edit my slips, typing errors & use of my modifiers correctly, I admit I don`t catch them all. My intention is to bring back the winning attitude that we had when we won all those WS games in '87& 91, championships & PS games. I think this winning attitude needs to begin w/ the fans & lose their negativity. When we go to the games, get into the game & cheer the players. If we don't, we can't blame the players & coaches but ourselves if we don`t win.
  19. Totally agree w/ you Cody. Aces needs to be home grown or find some diamond in the rough that has been over looked by other teams, which have been the most successful way because we don`t like to go out & draft high pitching prospects. It has been rumored that the Twins aren't interested in FA Bauer or trade for Snell or Darvish. CO, TB & Reds will be looking for great deals focused on high prospects. Baseball is a business, common sense tells you to sell high & buy low. To trade players that had a poor 2020 doesn`t make sense because their stock is much lower than what they are really worth for an player that has inflated stock. That's why they won`t trade for Snell. We should also trade a redundant player not a needed player.
  20. Maeda deserves more in 2020 than what he got. But I wouldn`t extend his contract, it`d be like extending Perez's contract after the first 60 games being a Twin. Let's see what happens after the league get used to him & even then I'd have to see what he has at 35 before offering him an extension
  21. Buxton is important to this team period. 2020 Buxton showed a glimpse of the potential he had shown in the minors until the bean ball that was thrown at his head. The key is to keep him healthy. I`d bet on Buxton, try to mend fences if there's still hard feelings & extend him an agreeable contract.
  22. When you mention Stroman's quote "Height doesn't measure heart", it rang w/ me. If you can some how blend heart & height mix in w/ dedication to develop your pitches, you come up w/ a Randy Johnson. My preference is heart.
  23. Very true we're not the Marininers, our M doesn`t stand for Mariners or Minneapolis it stands for Minnesota. Many teams share the same letters, my intention is not for us to imitate them. My intention is for us to aspire to regain our PS prowess, much like the Yankees. When they hit a slump they reach back to the Ruth/ Gehrig & Mantle/ Maris eras. I`d like to bring back the winning attitude that we had while wearing this uniform. I`m not pushing to abolish The TC insignia, maybe bring back the pinstripes & M insignia for the PS.
  24. I agree that it`s way too early to get into an extension. But on the other hand if Kiriloff proves that we need him out of the gates, hang the service time. Twins like too much to play w/ service time
  25. Well laid out article Tom. I`m sure there is very serious negotiations going on. I like the format for arbitration where each offer their most reasonable offer & the officials decide the most reasonable instead finding a medium where each side become ridiculous. That said, if both sides come to decide to go to arbitration which I doubt, I`m afraid the decision would go to the owners (last year they surprisingly decided against Berrios) this year they will heavily decide in favor of the owners. Rosie`s agent must know that so he must decide if he`d accept the owner`s offer & stay or try to find a little bit better deal elsewhere. I`d bet on the latter because if nothing materialize they still fall back on the owners original offer
