  1. I bet everyone else plays better when he is not in the team.
  2. I recently watched an old game. It was game 1 of the 1987 nlcs. Cardinals and Giants. Danny Cox pitched for the cardinals. By the 8th inning the cardinals were up 5-0. Though they had a full relief staff, including closer stud Todd Worell, should they need him, Cox came out to finish the game. Probably threw 500-600 pitches. (Or 130-160… something in there). If I remember correctly, they might have said this was all on 3 days rest. Not worried a lick about the next game-possibly a clencher, or his arm in the WS. I know it is a different game now. But man… they sure did have different priorities.
  3. I like to think of them as a team that has a lot of room to improve. They have all season for the rookies to learn, everyone to get in their grooves and get hot, and to learn from all the mistakes they'll make. Do teams like the Yankees and Dodgers really have anywhere up to go from where they are? Come August and September hopefully the pitchers will be dominating for 7 innings, Buxton will look like a superstar, Larnach, Royce, Miranda, Ryan, and Winder will be untouchable and they can make this happen. If not... oh well. It's only baseball.
  4. Ok. Who had Urshela as the pick to click?
  5. Polanco is never any good until July when he starts hitting .450 with a hr every 6 abs.
  6. Maybe he’s been listening to Arraez and has learned how to hit the ball where the people aren’t standing. It might not be sustainable, but baseball is a game of streaks and they should ride this one as long as they can.
  7. Who is this Trevor McGill guy? Maybe see him today? He can get 3ks and they'll send him back down.
  8. From what I gather on the radio Kepler was actually trying to steal second base... leading to a passed ball? People are bunting (or at least trying)? There are sac bunts and sac flies? What is happening to this team? I guess this is how you win when your stars can no longer hit.
  9. By the time he's done he might be as infamous as well.
  10. Oh well. All's well when a run scores.
  11. As someone who likes bunting and stealing bases and all... Not sure I understand having someone who is streaking bunt to bring up a guy who is slumping.
  12. All true, but I don’t see how the Yankees and Astros are supposed to get better over the season when virtually every team they play is worse than them. The twins have a lot of opportunity to improve with the lot they currently have. It’s a tortoise and hare situation. Except that in the twins case, the hare beats them in the playoffs every single time.
  13. They don't have a playoff team yet. But some of these guys tend to heat up late in the season. If those players don't get going, they'll need 2 or 3 pitchers the caliber of Clayton Kershaw who can consistently hold opposing teams to 0 or 1 run if they want to make it anywhere in the playoffs.
  14. Kansas City could surely manage to have two MLB teams right?
  15. Whoops. I see that the game has already started and Buxton is 0 for 1. Guess I'll have to change my prediction to 13-2.
  16. How many runs is it feasibly possible for one Byron Buxton to generate in one game? Let's see... 5 runs, 12 RBIs? I predict the Twins will win 17-2.
  17. I won't ever blame the pitchers for losing the game when the offense only scores 2 runs. Don't care if it is 3-2 or 13-2.
  18. Also... The Twins are going to really need that slight defensive upgrade they get with Correa back when they are going to score 2 or (now) fewer runs per game.
  19. Also... The Twins are going to really need that slight defensive upgrade they get with Correa back when they are going to score 2 or (now) fewer runs per game.
  20. On the radio broadcast last night, I heard Gladden say "People think that when you are 0 for 17, that you are a terrible player. On the contrary, if you are 0-17 that means you are great. That means people believe in you (Miranda dribbles a weak grounder to SS)... Make that 0-18." Well. At least the Twins still have their great rookie infielder.
  21. Kepler on first. 2 out. Celestine and Lewis up next. If there was ever a time to steal second… this is the one. They won’t do it.
  22. I’d be scared to see what this guy looks like without his mustache.
  23. This mustache really ties the room together
  24. Maybe so, but if 2/3 of the twins schedule are teams at the caliber of the As or lower, it’ll do for now. Hopefully they’ll all be good and stretched out by the time they play the Yankees.
