  1. I think the above is accurate. Twins have probably already moved on from him this season. Anything he might contribute would be a bonus assuming he could at least swing a bat.
  2. Well so nice to see that Gallo can at least hit a lob ball. His HR was meaningless. But I hope they saved some runs off real pitching for tonites game. A series win would just about do it for the division.
  3. anyone think he'll play anymore for the Twins this year?
  4. Biggest test of the season coming right up, starting tonite. 5 game lead could shrink to 2 games by mid-week. Or it could grow to 8 games. Twins must win at least 1 to remain relevant in this race. If they let Cleveland own them again this September, I don't think they deserve post season. they really let yesterdays game slip away. It was theirs for the taking in the 8th. Gotta bear down and not let chances go by. Are Correa's DP's getting to be just as annoying as Gallo's 'k's?
  5. Twins had their golden chance in the 8th to take the game but DP master Correa 'comes thru' again to kill the rally and ultimately...the game. Leadoff bomb in the 9th was a no doubter. Twins had a great chance to sweep this series but between having to deal with Gallo not getting any meaningful hits since Lincoln was president and Correa with the DP's...it is what it is.
  6. I think #4 is the most logical. Not sure his defense at 1st base is that critical. #2 is the most unlikely. He hasn't 'run into' anything except outs, mostly k's in many weeks. His bat has contributed zero lately of any significance. And this weekend he also failed as a pinch runner. He's simply having a 'Chris Davis-career is over' season. I can't believe Twins can't scour the beer league for someone better.
  7. this is very sad. The last person we get mad at is Buck. The guy wants to play and play at an elite level. But his entire career suggests its not possible. He is always hurt. There are many quality athletes who have had careers cut short because their injuries were chronic and frequent. I'll be surprised if Buck can compete the way he wants to anymore this season. Will shutting him down completely for 7 months help? Or is his body just one more tweak, mis-step, or stumble from the next serious injury no matter how long he rests? Track record so far indicates yeah probably. But we don't know based on what we do know. Would be great seeing him patrol CF again, and hit for power and average, but I fear those days may be in the rearview mirror. If we are discouraged as fans, just imagine for moment what it has been like for him.
  8. why does Gallo have to play instead of Solano? Is the lefty-righty thing THAT crucial that you sit a .300 hitter and insert a guy who has barely hit .100 over the past 2 months? Gallo in the starting lineup is just like giving up an out every AB. I just don't get it.
  9. its also OK to be a yaysayer! Its called being a fan that one has ebbs and flows during the game
  10. its easy to monday morning q-back once the game is over. During the game, things were tense and lately our pen has been shaky, So its OK to be a 'naysayer' while the game is in progress. Tonite they mostly got it done. But to be fair...Pagan's 3 walks to blow the save wasn't particularly impressive. Duran had some off moments in the 10th. So despite the 'stat' that says 2 runs in 6 2/3 innings, Twins almost coughed it up late.
  11. so he gets it done but I'm not very impressed with him as a closer. OK--enough of that. Its a win and the lead remains 5. Right now however you can bank a 'W' you do it.
  12. Duran once again needed only 1 strike and once again he he is struggling mightily to get the final out. Astoundinly frustrating. And Twins have used 9 pitchers. geez
  13. so panel...is 3 enough for this bullpen? Hitters did their job. Bring it on home boys...
  14. you can always count on Gallo to do nothing productive. As sure as the sun coming up in the East.
  15. say hey..Twins show some resiliency! Get out of the 9th and so far 2 in the 10th. (oh me of little faith!) So far.
  16. we can kiss this one goodbye. When your bullpen can't throw strikes, you don't deserve to win. And not for nothing but how useless is Gallo? Had the base stolen but over slides. Nice pinch running! Kills us at the plate and on the bases. Texas..do what you have to do quickly and with less pain. Once again the pen can't hold the lead in close games. Cautionary tale.
  17. I'm ready to internalize that his baseball career as we knew it, is pretty much over. He has far too many injuries to overcome and he can't seem to do it. He is not a DH...at least not with the nagging injuries that I suspect have never gone away this season. He tries hard, but his body won't let him succeed. I have to believe the Twins are already making plans to move forward without him. A terrible story to a guy who could have been on top of the baseball world.
  18. i'll explain. With Scherzer owning us, we had no chance. When the Texas pen came in, the robbery occurred. Yes, I give the hitters credit for taking advantage of the change. Rangers didn;t know what hit them . Seriously did anyone on this planet expect Luplow and Vazquez to hit opposite field HR's in this game? Big win, no doubt about it. Let's run with it now!
  19. nothing made sense tonite. Scherzer dominated...and was removed. In the day he''d be in there for at least 105 or so pitches. Given that break, the unlikeliest of hitters for the Twins bashed HR's. to give them a 3-1 lead, Then our starter comes out after 6 great innings. And the hot and cold bullpen pitched 3 scoreless, easy innings. We'll take the win. They stole it...maybe Texas gave it away. Doesn't matter. In September its all about the W's. Thats all that matters. They remain 5 ahead. Interesting ballgame for sure
  20. Buxton: Pain = Sun: Rises It isn't even a story anymore
  21. name of this game was clearly Scherzer and Twins had zero chance. Bullpen comes in and Twins bats come alive. What a massive break for the good guys....so far. Our pen still has to get 6 outs.
  22. and another slumping hitter gets one off the wall...Jeffers needed that one!
  23. ah--this game is so nutso, do we give Jax another inning?
  24. and Rocco could be messing this whole game up by taking Ryan out. Both managers must be smoking the same stuff tonite. Jax---maybe its time for me to switch to the O's game!
  25. and sanity returns as Joey strikes out again. Can always count on him to restore order.😛
