  1. I was hoping we could use those funds to help aquire a reliever. we probably woukd need to add a propect too. but.... I agree with John and am glad they were drafted this year. Pearson appears to be the Angels version of Enlow. getting a player who dropped for signability issues. The Catcher is the new Stewart for our org. nice glove no hit catcher.
  2. angels have bedrosian, giants have strickland i guess, i dont kniw who seattle has but i bet we can find a controlable reliever that thriws gas for our international funds and.....
  3. i wonder what we can trade for with our extra money to help those still in it give him a reasonabke offer. could we trade with SD for hand with international money and a prospect like tyler jay and kohl stewart.
  4. i think Park would have had a shot if he produced in the minirs next year and vargas fizzled or someone was hurt. but Rooker is rising fast and our new front office didnt seem enamored by him either. but if we are able to sign Ohteni then he would get the potential at bats the Park would be fighting for next season so there would be almost no chance for Park. so i guess the contract he got in Korea is the best outcome dor him.
  5. actually stats show bunting is a negative play on a macro level. on a micro level, i guarentee there are times it makes sense to bunt.
  6. i would have protected atleast 2 mire players. and i feel justified to question the front office for that too. we can debate who, but we still have the opportunity to trade these guys too.
  7. they have tje space for a 1 year blip on payroll. they can spend 35 million on Darvish and 2 relievers next year knowing Mauers contract is off the books along with others.
  8. how do you figure Lynn get 150 million. that number is over 50 million or more then what he will actually get.
  9. I am also in the camp of a Dozier extention. A 4 or 5 year extention at 14 -15 million per season seems fine to me. He can also slide over to first at some point.
  10. I do think beyween Vargas and Grossman we keep Grossman because he is cheap high on base percentage and we need rh power to handle lh pitchers better. Vargas is lh so i feel he is the more likely option to go.

  12. My offseaon blueprint is similar. I dont see the need to release Vargas or Grossman at this point but 1 will need to go so we can get a rh power hitter. there should be some inexpensive options available with the glut out there. I like Seths picks for the pen. I agree with signing 2 relievers. I would also be happy if they resigned Kintzler as one of the relievers or a different one who is almost as good. I also agree we should get a short term contract for the rotation intead of a long term one. I like Vargas as well as Seths pick and Cobb could be a good buy medium low candidate. I also would be fine with a Darvish contract.
  13. I think Burdi is out all next year too....just sign kintzler and belisle and run with it

  15. I would go with any of Gordon, Romero or Gonsalves cause they are all so close to the majors. Rooker and Lewis are close and may even be better but are far enough back, they have more hurdles to jumo to the bigs and i think that plays a role unless you have an obvious generational talent. I do think all 5 will play in the bigs at some point.
  16. I actually fully agree with your numbers. Maybe do the year before as an option too. But thats nitpicking here.
  17. I would be surprised if they didn't resign Kintzler next year. He likes it in Minnesota and i could see them working out a 2 year with option or 3 year contract. If they can get Belisle on a 1 year deal again for around 3.5 to 4 million I would do that. But in all seriousness, the Twins do need to sign a second reliever. I do like the idea of signing Wade Davis and using Kintzler as a set up man. That gives 3 different looks from Hildenburger the side armer to Kintzler the ground ball machine to Davis who overpowers hitters. then we just need a good lefty. (Tyler Jay.....)
  18. I see the Twins going after Kintzler. I like Minor, gregerson, Joe Smith as the 2nd reliever. And if the Twins sign a 3rd reliever expect minor league deals or at best Belisle if he wants to return for around 3 million or so.
  19. I might try to front load the contract to make those fa years left. Add 5 million to each of first 3 seasons and subtract 6 in each of last 3 or so.
  20. I expect the front office to strike fast for a starter. That will set them up to wait out the offseason for a hitter and they would just be on the hunt for relievers.
  21. There is an abundance of 1B on the market, so i think they can find a bat at a reasonable cost. Pitching will be interesting. We will definately have better depth with several starters ready in AAA next season. Once we find one starter the bullpen will be the big concern.
  22. I'd up the fa years to 20 million for all 3 years.
  23. Last offseason i said extend him. This offseason i say it again. At the end of his 5 year extension he should have over 300 HRs, 1000 runs, and some other good counting stats maybe 750-800 RBIs. He likes it here and we are in contention window. Why wouldnt he want to resign. We are not too far from Mississippi where hes from.
  24. I was thinking 5 years and 65 to 75 million is what its going to take to sign him.
