  1. Side note Ca state income tax is 13.3 percent with the crazy liberals trying to push it to 15, compared to Minnesotas 10. So that is not the main factor either. Were down to weather, japenese population and media spotlight and money. Which of those do you think is most important? Crazy thought, if we include Kepler in a trade for Archer would signing Ichiro as a backup help move the needle?
  2. "Jon Heyman in MLB trade rumors has stated that there’s “reason to believe” that neither the Brewers or the Twins are a top choice for Darvish, though, so either team could perhaps need to be more aggressive in order to land him." I view this type of info as posturing and leveraging. All things being equal Darvish would like LA or Texas but Minnesota can offer a nice place, good for family, winning environment. He may prefer a place with a larger Japenese population or more media, but as a married with Children man, Minnesota isnt a horrible destination either. He probably views Minnesota as a 6 or 7 on the 10 point scale. LA and Texas as 9s.
  3. Darvish throws 6 different pitches. As long as he is not injured he will be atleast a serviceable pitcher the 5th and 6th year of his contract. Just add the 6th year and get insurance on the contract...
  4. It looks like Duffy is the fall back option if he is stretching out to start. If we get Darvish, and we should get to skip the 5th starter a few times during the first month of the season. These 2 things will lessen the blow considerably. With Hughes and May comming back from injury, we should have plenty of depth, once they are ready to go. We are only thin to start the season. This makes it more important to sign a high end pitcher. Also, too bad we didn't resign Colon to the minor league contract as that is the type of signing that is perfect for a few starts at the beginning of the season. If needed maybe we can find an emergency starter via waiver wire towards the end of spring. Lastly, I hope Mejia is ready to take a step forward and become a 6 inning pitcher....ok 5.33 inning pitcher this year...
  5. So what would the Braves want in a trade?
  6. Did they have any good campaigns back in the 87 to 92 seasons
  7. I agree thome as paul bunyon.
  8. I dont have the stats to back this up but Santana has a history of being great for a stretch and garbage for a stretch. The last 2 seasons he has been more consistant. Still goes up and down but less down. Remember his first seaon here he had a great month with an era under 2 followed with an era over 8. Then finished the seaso almost as good as his first minth. He didnt do that the last 2 years as he has gained more consistancy throught season.
  9. For the record. Isnt target field making payments to Hennipen County for the funds to build the ballpark? And isnt the Twins making big chunks of extra payments too? And didnt the players all get a raise from new tax bill? I think labor should tell their constituents to see how next offseason plays out. If Harper or Machado dont make bank, then labor has a big arguement. But so far im seeing offers in expected ranges get rejected by players. That makes them the villans of the offseason.
  10. I got a great idea. Lets wait till next offseason to try to sign a pitcher when all of the big market teams are back in after resetting their luxury tax. Surely we will have a better chance to sign the best pitcher then....
  11. We could have 2 100 game winners and losers as well.
  12. The week is almost up. Going to the last minute to sign with the Twins eh Yu. Maybe you can get a few more million out of the Team.
  13. I think a rh dh makes sense if we want to use Grossman to platoon with Kepler or Mauer or both. We had a hard time against lefties last year so it does make sense. I think whichever signs a minorleague deal and dukes it out with Vargas can have the contract.
  14. I think they should start with fewer measures to speed up the game. I am against the pitch clock. it is the past time for a reason... I am for a Dozier extention.
  15. I was trying to think of a Darvish contract compromise. I came up with a 5 year 135 million with a 6 th year option at 25 million or 5 million buy out. We can inckude an opt out after the second or third year too if needed.
  16. If he hits like Jeter with more power and steals 70 bases a year....
  17. Dont forget rosterman the Twins also hired around 40 more staff for analytics and other departments.....their salaries and equipment could run 5 to 10 million depending on all the stuff they get to improve performance.
  18. They are looking at Miley as a value sign. I took that to mean if they could get him cheaply. They would still be able to sign Darvish if they sugned Miley
  19. Im all for woking as a group to soeed up the game, but a 20 second pitch clock will negatively affect perfomance of some who are more comfortable with more time between pitches. I think that should be done over a 3 year period so players arent making big adjustments to their game to compensate. I do agree that we need to speed up games. We need to do it at a slower pace...
  20. There's one less Darvish suitor as the Astros aquired Cole. Of course the Yankees may step up their efforts to sign Darvish as a result...
  21. Isnt this the 6th largest free agent signing in team history? Hughes Santana Nolasco Castro Willingham Reed
  22. I think this signing confirms an 8 man bullpen
  23. Buxton's personality us one that would sign an extention through his arbitration years and is nice enough to maybe add a 1 year of free agency to that extention. Depends on hiw badly he wants to play closer to home. I think once your approaching 100 million with him he is not the type of person to push for the extra dollar as much as a great environment to be in. He is Minnesota nice from the south.
