  1. But i would still expect Colon to go to the Mets if they will have him if he fails here.
  2. I imagine that comment is out of frustration. He is 8 wins from becomming the winningest pitcher from the Dominican Republic. I'm sure if he can pitch 6 innings and keep is in the game his next start he will keep going. If he gets released he can say he was thinking about it a while and maybe instead of getting released he retires.
  3. I would be real happy if we aquired Brach. Neshek is the other reliever i would like to target.
  4. He is this generation's Micheal Cuddyer with more speed and less magic.
  5. Sledgers could get a chance if a pitcher is needed sooner. I think Stephan could get called up this year and definately will be here next year. My question is if he has to be added to the 40 man roster over the winter. If not expext to see him next year. We have other prospects we need to protect first. If he has to be on the 40 man this winter then he could.make his way up this year.
  6. Lets see Colon go 6-4 over 13 or 14 starts averaging 6.33 innings with a 4.5 era and helping us narrowly beat cleveland for the division. He is more likely to do that then be a total loss. If he is a total loss ...he is out after a few starts and we bring up one of the kids....he buys us some time for them and could be more.
  7. With Levine coming over from Texas and having a history with them does that make a Cole Hamels trade more likely? I just read here https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/trade-rumblings-darvish-marlins-starters-tigers-astros-iglesias-hand.html that Texas may make Hamels available and he has a contract through next year with an option year tacked on so he can be here through 2019. What pieces would we need to give up for him? I think something along the line of one of our top pitching prospects Romero or Gonsalves, Granite, Palacious and maybe Curtis or Reed or Bard. Maybe Garver could be included over another prospect as they may want a catcher if they trade their Catcher...
  8. The thing about the Whitesox farm is their depth is still not there. They will have to supplement their roster significantly when these guys come up over the next few years. Though they sure are making the most of thier assets in trades for prospects.
  9. I just saw on mlbtraderumors that the cubs aquired Quintana for 4 prospects including a top 5 mlb prospect and their 2nd best prospect and 2 others. I dont know much about these prospects but this becomes a good gauge to see what a controllable starter is worth. I wanted to get your thoughts on the prospects and compare to ours and to other pitchers on the market.
  10. The signing also gives us a potential back of rotation pitcher without giving up assets. Now if we can get a reliever we can run with what we have and everyone should be happy. If Colon is good we stay in contention and those who wanted us to acquire a pitcher are happy and those who want us to horde assets are happy too. If Colon is terrible well then our season will likely be over too and no need to aquire anyone. Thus talent horders are happy and we wont be in contention anymore so we can wait to trade talent. And the rest of us will be disappointed if we fall out of the race but Colon seems like a great gamble for the price so those who wanted a transaction atleast got that.
  11. I think Colon is the rotation upgrade and if were lucky they may trade for a reliever. I dont see tbe front office doing much else till the offseason. Maybe bring Gonsalves up for September...
  12. Didnt the Twins draft some high upside guys in the late rounds in case of emergency? If so i would like to see if the Twins offered one of them 600k or so to see if they sign.
  13. We just signed our starting pitcher, Colon, i think it would help to acquire a reliever which wont cost much and then go with what we have. I do think we can make the playoffs. How far we go we cant determine till then. But we still need to win to get to the playoffs and a little outside help builds morale.
  14. Id just switch Mejia and Gibson here. And Berrios and Santana....and see if we can get Berrios enough starts so we have 2 20 game winners on the staff.
  15. Also i think the minor league signing was to give him a start or 2 in the minirs before we need a 5th starter again since we wont need one fir a bit with the all star break and rotation reset afterwards. Aaron Gleeman is happy now....
  16. He is this generations version of our Steve Carlton signing in 1987...also same year we won the World Series....
  17. So what was the result of who all signed and for how much? Never saw the final tally.
  18. Kinztler has yet to throw 20 pitches in a game since this new game format has started. He has been pretty pitch efficient when he gets into a game.
  19. With his failure at cedar rapids and bouncing back should give him and the front office the confidence to know a set back in his first start is not the end of the world and he should be able to handle it.
  20. If i remember Tyner didnt walk alot so that hurt his obp. If granite is on over 36% of the time he would be fine at dh every now and then
  21. My line up was similar. In AL i had Smoak at 1B. SS was from Texas Rangers and DH Cruz. In NL i had Arrendo at 3rd, Washington 1B, and Stanton instead of Bellanger
  22. My line up was similar. In AL i had Smoak at 1B. SS was from Texas and DH Cruz. In NL i had Arrendo at 3rd, Washington 1B, and Stanton instead of Bellanger
  23. Vargas would be the one likely demoted in this scenario to get consistant playing time. Also Granite could rotate through DH as well if he keeps hitting .360 up here
  24. Thats what i was expecting the Twins to be this year. Maybe trading a low level prospect for a reliever and maybe an innings eating starter or a starter with long term control like Sonny Gray. That still leaves room for younger guys to come up and get an opportunity while being competetive this year and not giving away the farm. Also if we will have a roster crunch at the end of the year it makes sense to trade and consolidate a few prospects into a different long term asset so we dont risk loosing alot in next rule 5 draft.
