  1. I assume that does NOT include the $700k they can go over without incurring a penalty? So they are really under the number that REALLY matters by about $1.8M
  2. I have no idea how you would do it, but if they really wanted to speed up the game, banning the stealing of signs would be a good way. Then the catcher would only have to do one signal, like they do with nobody on base. There would have to be some pretty stiff penalties for violating the rule though.
  3. Jim Callis on some post-super2 call up options: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/237917070/13-potential-post-super-two-callups/ Nick Gordon, SS, Twins (No. 42) Minnesota is a surprise contender despite getting little offense out of Jorge Polanco. While Gordon has yet to play above Double-A, he's batting .315/.376/.504 and wouldn't be daunted by skipping a level.
  4. Enjoyed the article. One critique is all of the abbreviations. And the autocorrect made it worse.
  5. So is Chicago, and they have TWO teams
  6. Glad you guys weren't running things when a 25yo Dozier was slapping his way to a sub-700 OPS in AAA
  7. If a guy walks a lot, we say it isn't sustainable and if he doesn't walk much, we say he's got a bad eye. Having said that, Granite isn't even close to relying on walks. His OBP is only 53 points higher than his average. If anything he doesn't walk enough.
  8. I think we just need to get him some 1" lifts, then all that contact on the bottom of the ball will be squared up. You're welcome, Twins.
  9. Buy? No Sell? No Retool? No Balance? Yes I would part with some major league offense to add some major league pitching (non rental). That includes.... Dozier, Polanco, Rosario, Grossman, and Vargas Most of those guys have their flaws but they also have upside. Other teams' flawed players always look more interesting than your own flawed players.
  10. Which makes you wonder why it's just now happening
  11. Assuming we haven't, I wonder how many other teams haven't had one.
  12. Serious question... has a Minnesota Twin ever thrown 100mph in a game?
  13. Could you imagine if we had a TV guy that could intelligently talk about the juiced baseball issue?
  14. Someone needs to tweet that The Ringer "juiced baseball" article from last week to Dick Bremer
  15. If you "can't risk burning a challenge" here then when the hell can you? Btw. I don't think it would get overturned, but I'm just sick of the "can't burn the challenge" commentary.
  16. Lol. What a terrible slide from Kepler. What else could go wrong
  17. Bad job by FoxSports not showing the FoxTrax on the two inside called strikes on Vargas. The first one looked way inside. Second one was questionable, but apparently we needed to hear about "the big thing" from Audra.
  18. Make no mistake our pitchers were terrible, but so was the ump. I was in and out of the game, also watching the US Open, but I saw three terrible strike calls (all against Twins hitters) and two terrible non-strike calls (both against Twins pitchers).
  19. Looks like Ramirez is this series' Zunino? I assume Wimmers was drafted two picks before him?
  20. "As bad as it's been, it could've been worse" Drink
  21. Perhaps, but FoxTracks is making this guy look silly
  22. Walking the 8/9 batters is not the way to stay at the majors
