  1. Do a forum search for “2018” and sort it in ascending order. Some late 2012 and early 2013 projections werent all that bad.
  2. The article he wrote on the topic (on The Athletic) was a good one.
  3. I'd put Baddoo over Kirilloff if I was guessing
  4. Per Ken Rosenthal: The offseason started with 166 free agents. Only 31 of them have signed (18.6%)
  5. Miguel Sano with 2 triples and 1 SB I wonder how often players end up with more triples than SB.... and what the largest differential ever is.
  6. It would be really interesting to hear from a former front office person about what goes on in these face to face meetings. Here's our locker room. Here's Steve, he caters the game day meals. Here's our analytics department...... In modern times, and specifically with Levine and Darvish being familiar with each other, the face to face seems just like a formality.
  7. As someone who has had the daily Minor League scoreboard bookmarked in my iPhone for 5+ years, I have to say, last year was the year i used it the least. 2-3 years ago I was constantly checking out all of our prime prospects. And it seemed like there were guys at every level. And a bunch of position players that I wanted to track daily. Last year (especially before the draft) was pretty boring. The pool had diminished, a lot of the guys worth keeping track of were hurt, many were relievers with inconsistent schedules, and most of the remaining guys were starting pitchers that only needed to be checked in on once a week. I'm looking forward to a new year of checking the MiLB Twins scoreboard multiple times per day.
  8. That picture (especially the thumbnail size) looks a lot like Glen Perkins.
  9. The Daimondback, Twins, and Rockies are all basically the same 2016 revenue ranking (21,23,24.... but within $5M). The Grienke example was used above and the Rockies just spent $33M annually on three relievers.
  10. The worst thing about peoples' complaining is that, mixed into their complaints is the straw man that claims those of us that aren't complaining have "broken out the champagne"
  11. Bye bye Buddy B
  12. Span at Tampa could provide two things as it relates to a trade with MN. A) if Tampa is trading Archer, then they will not want Span's salary on the books B.) if they want Rosario or Kepler, then Span would be a decent stop-gap that would cost $23m for his remaining two years
  13. In the interest of providing 6+ year guys... Gordon + (Gonsalves/Romero) + Rooker + Graterol + Baddoo If they would prefer Polanco to Gordon, I'm fine with that swap If they would prefer Jay or Thorpe to Graterol, I'm fine with that swap. If they would want Berrios, I'd be willing to add him if we signed Darvish, but I'd pull out Gonsalves/Romero, Rooker, and Baddoo If they would prefer Kiriloff to Baddoo, so be it.
  14. I agree with many of names people have talked about adding... Santana, Dozier, Enlow, and Baddoo. At a certain point you need to add Castro, who is a reasonably priced league average catcher. Also, I think Jay is way too high
  15. If a team can just stash a rule 5 guy on the 60 day DL then something is wrong with the system. I feel like the rules haven't caught up with the steep increase in injuries that cost players a year or more of development.
  16. I was thinking about this last night. If we signed Darvish and we're working on a deal for Archer, I'd reluctantly be willing to include Berrios in the conversations. It wouldn't be my first choice and it would severely limit the other players I'd include in the deal, but I'd listen.
  17. This is the homerun move that needs to happen if we want to contend. It's risky though. It only makes sense to go after Darvish if you're going to get one more top SP
  18. I'm fine with Rodney as part of a successful offseason. Since it's only Dec 15, there's still a good chance that will happen.
  19. Ownership views this as an investment and they need to start recouping their investment. They probably feel like the team is worth $1B, but had to pay $1.2B to get their hands on it. So, they need to get 200M in profit to break even.
  20. Plenty of good names left: http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/relief-pitcher/available/
  21. While I am certainly a "let's wait and see" kind of guy that gives the benefit of the doubt, I will admit that the the combination of not signing anyone yet, and who we left exposed for the rule 5 draft does have me scratching my head a bit.
  22. Good find. I'm of the opinion (granted, it's a totally uneducated, unsourced, long shot, play the lottery if I'm right opinion) that Arrieta will end up signing a 1yr contract this offseason (for like 25M. He'll bet on himself because nobody will take on the 4+ year risk that he's asking for. I understand this is a long shot and his 6/150 will probably be announced 5 minutes after I post this, but I'm just not seeing any interest in him yet. He'll get some 2 year offers, but he'll opt for the 1 year route and test the process again next year. Anyway.... this is like a $10m make good contract.
  23. Talking about the cost of trainers and training facilities makes us sound like a pathetically small market. That's the type of stuff that might go through the Marlins FO's minds, but should never ever even come up from good organizations
