    I agree. There's nothing really compelling about a team asking for a haul for a guy they truly have no need to get rid of. It would be malpractice for them to NOT demand our top prospect. And to @nicksaviking's point, fans way overvalue prospects. Treating them like the Phillies do (trade most of them for major league talent) is a pretty good way to go about maximizing value... though that works much better for a franchise with a huge payroll. To me, it just doesn't rise to the level of needing an article about it. I hesitated to even respond to the article and bump it to the top of the forum, but it was already listed second, behind a pinned thread, so there was no real harm.

    So they should’ve called him up with Culpepper and had him make his major league debut against 3 out of 4 lefty SP and Jacob Misiorowski? Not exactly setting him up to have early success.

    I generally agree with you that Jenkins needs to be up with the Twins. HOWEVER… We’re in the middle of a lefty-lefty-Misiorowski-lefty stretch of starting pitchers. Not exactly the best time to call up a lefty prospect. If he’s not called up by next weekend, I’ll be annoyed though.

    As for the Royce play… yeah, he messed up. And I yelled at my TV when it happened. But stuff happens so fast. I’m sure there was a plan, but even that plan probably leaves a lot of ambiguity. “Royce, if there’s a sharp grounder, here’s what you need to do.” Well… ok… how sharp? Now the play happens and in a split second you’re asking yourself “was that sharp enough? Did Naylor break right away? Is the guy going to second in my way” He should’ve made a better choice, but it’s crazy to not understand why plays like that get screwed up. They do. All the time. Onward. Let’s win the series tomorrow.

    For sure he would’ve if he was catching (ignoring the part about… Why would a catcher challenge a strike call 😉 ). We can all agree that catchers have the best vantage point and that it’s tougher for hitters, but Caratini just has to be more aware of the situation. The leverage in that situation is just so massive. If it’s ANYWHERE close you have to challenge, ESPECIALLY when you have both challenges left. It could’ve been a 3 inches into the zone and I still would’ve said “good challenge”

    I kind of understand the first one that he didn’t challenge. But you have to challenge that second one even if you think you might lose. Just have to.

    Looked it up earlier… Over 900 OPS in July

    Over only 36 innings this season. Very small sample that is more than 2x his career mark. Also, it’s not 3+. It’s 3 exactly.
