  1. The bullpen is in the top five in the league in almost every meaningful metric... I think too many people here are blaming the bullpen for these losses when the bats are disappearing in the mid to late innings.
  2. He gave up two hits and one run over three innings... Seems to me that he had the best outing of any Twins pitcher today!
  3. Okay, I get that he had a meaningless bad inning in that blowout in Detroit, but giving up one run over three innings today while saving the high-end arms from having to pitch is a good outing in my book. I'm no Dobnak apologist, but he's been an objectively good MLB pitcher so far in his career. It sounds like you have some sort of axe to grind with him.
  4. I mean, I don't think they'll be carrying the team or anything, but you're not gonna win many games scoring two runs...
  5. Overall nice outing by Dobnak, I thought. I'll take one run over three innings from him. It's not his fault the damn bats decided to go dormant after the first inning...
  6. Maybe Happ also has a nice '57 Chevy that he lends to Mark Carlson from time to time... that was an awfully generous strike three call.
  7. Ugh... Given his history, I still think Sano will start clicking soon and those balls will end up in the seats. But it sure isn't fun seeing him pop them up for now.
  8. I'm assuming they've got Dobnak ready to piggyback for a few innings. Hopefully he still remembers how to pitch...
  9. Awfully optimistic of you to assume that they moved the runner over to third... Have they even done that in any of the three extra innings?
  10. More watchable than Martin Perez! Which, admittedly, isn't saying much...
  11. To be fair, Cave has been pretty solid vs. RHP in his career (111 wRC+), but he's certainly looked lost so far this season. Too early to give up on him IMO, but starting him against LHP is definitely not putting him in the best position to succeed.
  12. They could stick La Tortuga in LF and have either Garver or Jeffers at 1B, but Rocco seems pretty determined to never use his backup C at any other position... That would be a good way to get Jeffers some more at-bats vs. LHP, which might help his bat get going. Sucks for him that Garver always gets the start vs. LHP.
  13. Yuck... I wish they would at least move Garlick over to LF and put Kepler back in RF. Cave should never start vs. LHP. (Here's hoping this provides a reverse-jinx and Cave goes yard today!)
  14. Has there been any indication that the postponement is related to politics at all, rather than player/fan safety?
  15. Man, this take is... puzzling. I guess we should let the bats off the hook for not managing to scratch a single run across in three extra innings so far?
  16. I enjoyed some nice strawberry Marmolejos on my toast this morning.
  17. People are so damn fickle... Was anyone here paying attention to the team in 2019 when Sano looked lost at the plate throughout his first few weeks and then proceeded to hit the cover off the ball for the rest of the season? I get that strikeouts are not fun to watch, but they're honestly only slightly worse than a normal groundout or pop fly (and they're better than double plays!). While the results haven't been there yet, I still think Sano has been taking some good at-bats so far, and if he continues this approach, he's going to start connecting sooner or later. Any calls to bench him in favor of Astudillo are just plain silly.
  18. I thought you were going to go with some sort of "choux-maker" pun, but I couldn't quite work it out. But this certainly falls into the acceptable dad joke category.
  19. Considering their opening day starter was Kyle Gibson, I think Texas really is that bad... but it's also not unfeasible that KC could be a .500 team this season.
  20. I'm no neurologist, but I am certainly neurotic, thanks in large part to this team.
  21. This is such a terrible, BS take. If you read anything that any beat writer has written about Buxton, they always emphasize how much he wants to be out there no matter how injured he is. Sometimes players need to be protected from themselves, and in case you've been living under a rock for the past 20 years, we have since discovered that head injuries are nothing to mess around with and simply "play through."
  22. As we have seen over the years with Morneau, Mauer, Buxton, etc, one thing that we know for sure about post-concussion symptoms is that they are wildly unpredictable. I think if we were still in the regular season, Buxton wouldn't have played yesterday even if he wasn't showing any symptoms. Teams these days typically like to put a guy through a workout and see how he's feeling the next day before they fully clear him, and this situation is a good example of why. Sometimes the symptoms are triggered by the previous day's workout.
  23. Maybe it'll turn out to be a stroke of genius! But seriously, I'm surprised by the move as well. I hope Kirilloff makes us look like idiots for doubting the move, but given the Twins' inability to have nice things in the playoffs, my confidence is low.
  24. It has to be. If he was actually healthy enough to play, sitting him in the playoffs would be severe managerial malpractice, IMO.
  25. I didn't say he pitched well, but he induced a weak ground ball directly to Polanco with two outs. That should've ended the inning, and he shouldn't have had to pitch to Altuve. Also, the two hits he allowed were both bloopers that were hit less than 80mph. He certainly didn't give himself any margin for error, and he certainly shouldn't have walked Altuve. But the fact remains that he pitched well enough to get out of the inning, and his defense let him down.
