  1. Sucks that this game had to be the one where the Twins are the "visiting" team, I would love to see a walk-off... Donaldson got damn lucky that he didn't get rung up, but I'll take it.
  2. The guy who isn't 300lbs, if he knows what's good for him
  3. I wouldn't advocate for it in a normal 162 game season. But in this shortened season, I think it's a viable strategy if you have a deep enough pen, as the Twins seem to have. Again, the Twins don't have any relievers that have pitched more than 17 innings so far this season. They have done a good job of managing workloads thus far.
  4. It just seems like an old school vs. new school mentality to me. I know a lot of people long for the days of starters regularly going 7-8 innings, not caring about pitch counts, only trusting 4-5 relievers in the pen, etc... But the game has changed, and there's a reason why these things aren't the norm anymore. It seems to be working pretty well for the Twins so far this season.
  5. I mean, he has still hit better this season than any Twin not named Cruz...
  6. I'll never understand this obsession with watching starters pitch instead of relievers. I want to watch the pitchers that give us the best opportunity to win the game. I would understand it if we had any bullpen arms that were being overworked this season, but that hasn't happened, and it's only a 60-game season anyway. I like the way Rocco has been playing it so far.
  7. Woof, don't remind me... So he's not perfect, but I'll take him over Neil Allen or Rick Anderson any day.
  8. Hoo boy, looks like that defense from the White Sox series has returned. Making some of these plays in the field would go a long way towards preserving some of our bullpen arms.
  9. I think the Twins organization in general agrees with you there...
  10. Twins hit three balls over 100mph last inning, including Rooker's single at 112.2! Hopefully that's a sign of good things to come...
  11. Why do you assume that he wouldn't? My point is that we have no idea what would've happened if they had left him in for the 6th, but if you're asking me who I trust more to hold onto a two run lead and get six outs, I would pick Duffey and Rogers over Dobnak 10/10 times.
  12. Seriously, has anyone ever tried to teach Rosie how to run the bases properly? His aggression does pay off occasionally, but he makes some of the dumbest baserunning decisions I've ever seen.
  13. Wisler and Thielbar have been absolute godsends this season... I'm starting to think this Wes Johnson fella knows what he's doing.
  14. I get it, it's cool to see a pitcher throw a complete game, and we hardly ever get to see it anymore. But there would be a TON of crowing on here if Rocco let him start the 6th and he ended up giving up a couple of runs. There was very little margin for error, and, although Dobnak has been very good, I have a lot more trust in Duffey and Rogers in those tight situations than Dobnak. We saw in Dobnak's last start how quickly things can unravel for him.
  15. I still don't really understand your point, nor do I see any Twins reliever who has even come close to being overworked.
  16. It's a 60-game regular season... how often do we worry about a bullpen being gassed after 60 games? Our bullpen has indeed been used much more than it was used last season through 40ish games, but the bullpen is also much deeper this season. Go take a look at how many innings our best relievers have pitched this season and tell me which one of them has been overworked.
  17. The options were to either let a pitch-to-contact guy go out and face the lineup for a third time, or turn to our deep bullpen that has been mostly dominant this season to get six outs. I know which one I'd choose.
  18. It's a 7-inning game, so it'll only be 2 innings (hopefully!)
  19. Yep. I believe Rocco said before the game that Donaldson would only start in one game today, so I'm guessing they wanted to make sure they had at least one of them starting in each game since both are against LHP.
  20. Sano's performance vs. lefties this season has been downright baffling. His career OPS vs. lefties is about 40 points higher than vs. righties. This season, his OPS vs. lefties is 300 points lower than vs. righties.
