If you ask any of the "old timers" who were fortunate enough to see and hear him play for the Twins, there is no doubt that Mr. Tovar deserves a place in the Twins HOF.

Jack Morris and Latroy Hawkins have done games in the past also.

Hats off to the FO for getting this done. We have no guaranties that this move will be a "good" move or not, but I give them credit for taking the chance. Super great!!!

Good stuff Tom. I remember those days and being excited about having new owners. I think everyone was happy Calvin was selling! That was a fun time as we had a new Metrodome, new owners, and some great young players. Now it seems like such a long time ago....I'm ready to see the Twins win a World Series again!

Are we more willing to spend money or prospects? Neither. We all know how important it is for this team to keep all our prospects. They are cheap and under control for many years, so we always keep those precious prospects. And as far as spending the cash, we always do our shopping at the bargain bin. Looking for the low cost option or the special discount price. We always want to keep our precious cash...IMO between last seasons deadline and this off season, our FO has completely failed. But we still have our prospects and cash!!!

I'll bet money that we will NOT sign Donaldson...Between last seasons trade deadline and this off season our front office has failed miserably.

So after all the talk, and all the speculation, these are the guys we sign? A very average aging starter and a very part time 40 year old?... Congratulations Falvine!

Am I really a part of the middle class? I feel like a kid whose parents have plenty of money, but they just don't want to spend any of it on me. But they are doing this for my own good, as they don't want to spoil me.

I feel like the biggest fool in Twinsland. I actually believed the FO when they said we would pursue "impact pitching." I'm almost 60 years old and I was gullible enough to believe their BS. I really should have known better,as this is the Twins after all. I suppose I just wanted to believe so badly. I just wanted to think that our current FO was different. But alas. we will now end up dumpster diving and bargain shopping, just as we always do. No matter what Falvey and Levine say, I should have known better.

I'll give Chicago credit for having the balls to make some moves. They have been very aggressive in getting the pieces they feel they need to make a run at the playoffs. Meanwhile, some teams have management that talk a good game, but they are afraid to pull the trigger and take a chance. I would imagine White Sox fans are very pleased with the effort from their front office.

I'm fairly certain they're aware of what the fans think. These guys are obviously not risk takers. Last season they made some good moves, but they were all safe, short contracts that didn't carry a lot of risk.Expecting these guys to offer any bold, long term contracts just isn't going to happen. It doesn't matter what they say. They are real pro's when it comes to talking BS, as we have all seen.
  12. CharlieDee
Why indeed? Seems like they don't want to meet the asking price for any starting pitcher.
  13. CharlieDee
We are now leading the majors in stabilizing moves....Yeah!
  14. CharlieDee
I think it's way too early to call the Pineda signing a "steal" He's already been suspended twice,so if he gets caught again what will the suspension be? We signed him again because he came cheap. Period. He let the team down last season when playoff time arrived, and he still has over a month to serve on that suspension.

Not expecting our FO to do anything at this point. Nothing meaningful anyway.Teams seem to be moving quickly this off season while we look for the best "bargains" Maybe Falvey and Levine are scared after getting burned at last seasons trade deadline. Their trade for Dyson may have been one of the worst trades of the year. And they did nothing to address the starting pitching situation that we are now in...But I will admit that our FO sure knows how to talk a good game.
  16. CharlieDee
Good enough... But Falvey is the one who said the Twins "will strike" when the window is open. The fans didn't say that, Falvey did.....So if the Twins sign no new starters, are you going to apologize?
  17. CharlieDee
This will be the last story I read about someone that we might sign, or that we have interest in. We went through the exact same thing at last seasons trade deadline, and as far as starters go we did absolutely nothing. This looks like a replay as we talk, and talk, and talk some more about how we need starting pitching. While we talk other teams actually go out and get the deals done. I will always love the Twins, but I have NO confidence at all that our front office will sign a meaningful starter.
  18. CharlieDee
As much as I'd like to see it happen for the Twins, I'm almost certain it won't. Other teams always find a way to come up with the money, even though our "window" is wide open. Prove me wrong Mr. Falvey!

I'm wondering what the Steamer projections were going into the 2019 season. I'm guessing they weren't close to what actually happened.

Great weekly reports all season long. I've enjoyed reading them, but I've forgotten my manners and gone all year without saying thank you for your work. Twins fans are lucky to have Twins Daily and all of the writers who contribute to this sight. Thanks Nick for all your efforts!

Teams that are in the chase at the deadline, as the Giants were, don't usually trade away one of their better relievers for prospects. I know from reading posts from Giants fans that many were shocked to see Dyson traded....I think the Giants suspected something was amiss.
  22. CharlieDee
I doubt anyone will fear them, but they're all we got...I'm hopeful!
  23. CharlieDee
Arraez has been outstanding since being called up. It was obvious early on that he made our team better. His knowledge of the strike zone and his bat control seems kinda Rod Carew to me...Keep it up Luis!
  24. CharlieDee
You hustle, on every play. Period.
