  1. ESPN has this trade as one they predict.... 2. The Twins acquire LHP Madison Bumgarner and LHP Will Smith from the Giants for OF Alex Kirilloff, LHP Lewis Thorpe and two prospects outside of Minnesota's top 10. They even mention SF possibly adding Melancon to the deal, assuming SF picks up a majority of his salary. Thoughts? For 2 rental players, that is a pretty steep price IMO.
  2. And this would be such a Minnesota Twins thing to do.
  3. Enjoyed the article - but one thing that the Indians and Rangers didn't/don't have is an ownership group like the Pohlads. That is the one factor that I think we need to remember as being in play.
  4. Pretty incredible when you look at those teams in the top 10 of prospect lists, and how well their current MLB team is doing as well.
  5. It is all because he and the Twins are working extremely hard on "staying on top of the baseball."
  6. No mention on how bad Mejia is? He needs to go - Smeltzer or Thorpe can be just as effective, better actually, than he has been/is. And then you can go out and get another lefty for the pen - someone like Will Smith, hopefully.
  7. From a pure do and don't as far as baseball plays go, that wasn't a good play by Buxton. The ball was hit to the left side of center field. He may have thought that Gallo was going to air it out to home plate, but he didn't. That play, looking back on it, cost the Twins a huge run. Bigger picture though - buckle up. This team needs help NOW. You cannot wait another 2-3 weeks to make move(s). Also - Mejia is garbage. I don't care that he hits 95 MPH on his fastball...his command stinks, he stuff doesn't impress, and he just isn't good. He needs to go.
  8. Keith Law wasn't exactly impressed with Lewis in his article reviewing the Futures Game.
  9. This stuff, right here. I envy that the Red Sox are always seemingly looking to upgrade and improve - their goal is to win championships while sustaining a long term vision. Why can't the Twins do it the same way? They recognize their weakness, and they pursue options to improve that. It isn't a tough model to follow, really.
  10. We have used Vivid Seats twice over the last month, and have had good success - but I just looked up tickets on their for the upcoming Mets series, and wow...talk about high priced.
  11. Right - on the television, it did look like Odorizzi told them "I am good" and that is when they decided to leave him in there. Obviously what followed makes the decision look even worse. Look at how the 4th inning unfolded though leading up to that grand slam - Sano error (dude is atrocious defensively, let's be honest), a walk, a bloop single by Grossman that I am still surprised Buxton didn't catch (took a bad initial route on it)...and then bam, the grand slam to Herrmann. Baseball is a cruel animal sometimes.
  12. That isn't what you said - you said the strikeout is the worst out possible with bases loaded and 1 out. Which, you know, isn't accurate. At all.
  13. At least, from the quotes above, that Sano is open to working on and correcting the issues. It is comforting to know he isn't just sticking to his guns, and telling the coaching staff and others to take a hike.
  14. Anyone else think Baldelli sort of mishandled the pen yesterday as far as usage? Why only have Littell go 1 inning? I know he hadn't thrown in awhile, and threw 20 pitches, so maybe they are now fully committed to him being a short relief guy... Thought maybe Gibson would go a second inning as well after he threw just 11 pitches.
  15. Polanco squared numerous times in his PA too - the pitcher just didn't throw a strike, or a pitch that Polanco felt he could bunt.
  16. Yes, I agree - bunting can be good. However, the situation last night was not a good one.
