    Welcome to the new age of ballparks. A lot of places have started to go the route of Dodger Stadium, which I think is a pretty cool atmosphere. But I get the traditional sense and think that should still be part of the game day experience.

    That team had AN ace pitcher - if Liriano doesn't get hurt, then yes...they have multiple and it may change everything. That lineup wasn't as good as 2019, bullpen was meh...probably never got as good as the 2019 one was at it's peak. But they were a terrific team, riding high going into the postseason, and it all flamed out...early and quickly. But your point remains - the front office/leadership at the top sat on their hands, didn't do anything to improve their current team (because they didn't want to mortgage the future!!!) and it bit them right in the ass.

    Over the last 20 years, the two that rank the highest as most crushing/disappointing for me are 2006 and 2019.

    Just saw this on Twitter... Since the Twins last postseason victory, every other team in the AL Central has played in the World Series with two of them winning the entire thing (Chicago & Kansas City). How pathetic is that?

    This is the same fan base that was chanting "over-rated" when Aaron Judge was at the plate. Yeah, clueless.

    I love all the optimism, but the Twins will not be signing Cole, Strasburg, etc. It just won't happen. The Twins have never invested that type of money in a SP, and it won't start now.

    You could see it coming, too. They were never going to trade for Grienke, or Syndergaard, or Stroman, or MadBum. Why? Because that is something the Twins have NEVER done under the ownership of the Pohlads. So anyone to expect something different, you were fooled. And we will continue to be fooled every single time the Twins have an opportunity to do something. Instead, this ownership would rather go for someone on the cheap who may provide a month or two worth of good output, only to watch the team go down in flames come October. The whole "we will strike when the window is open" is such a crock. The window opened back in April & May, and this ownership sat on their hands and put their faith in Martin Perez, Kyle Gibson, and others. Shame. On. Them.

    Didn't bother reading through this thread and becoming depressed, but it was quite obvious what the game plan for both teams was... Twins were looking to get the Yankees to chase pitches outside the strike zone, and the Yankees weren't going to take the bait. The Twins pitchers were constantly behind in counts, and had to throw pitches in the zone, and the Yankee hitters knew. Really, it was quite obvious the Twins were so concerned with the Yankee hitters, and they have pitched scared. This entire series. Rather than attacking these guys in the zone, in their weak/cool spots, they opted to throw pitches out of the zone and try to get them to chase. No luck, and it has turned out terribly for the Twins.

    Any roster projection that has Dobnak in the upper portion of your starting rotation is bad news for 2020. The guy is a feel good story, and he pitched well for the Twins this season. But these guys have come around before, and eventually flamed out. Dobnak is nice as your 5th starter, but anything higher than that is asking for trouble.

    Thinking more on that - it was the same mentality under Terry Ryan, Bill Smith, Terry Ryan, and now Falvine. The one constant throughout all of those GM's? The ownership.

    Everyone wants to blame the roster, the players, the manager, coaching staff, etc...but this series/end result of this season, where everything was supposed to be different and the Twins were going to exercise all these demons...is 100% ON THE FRONT OFFICE. You can put together another 5-10 page thread on this and on that, but the number one reason why this team is headed towards another disappointing postseason is on the Pohlads, Lavine, and Falvey for not going out and getting a legit starting pitcher(s) to help this team. Instead, they didn't want to mortgage the future (again). What future? What has the FUTURE gotten the Twins over the last 20 years? 15 straight postseason losses, and an embarrassing stretch of games. Non competitive games, games where you never feel that the Twins have a chance. It is ridiculous, it is unacceptable, and it is downright negligent that this front office continues to have the mindset of "we cannot mortgage the future to help our team in the short term." Seriously, even Mark freaking Rosen was on the radio yesterday stating this...and how he 100% understands now and will agree with fans when/if they opt to not show up to Target Field in 2020, continue to rip the FO for their lack of moves, etc. Shame on this organization. Shame. On. Them.

    Yeah, was definitely a bit of a surprise when the lineup was posted. Figured with Arraez's ankle and Schoop being strong against LHP, he was an automatic start at 2nd. Hard to ignore a guy with an OPS north of .900 versus LHP when the opponent is starting a LHP.

    Come on man, it is a bit...I think negatively, with the hope of something positive happening. Like, when I said the Twins wouldn't beat Clevinger in the DH'er a few weeks back.
