I'm not most people I guess cuz I don't see us catching up to Cleveland. On top of that I think KC will pass us by and we will miss the playoffs. You might call me pessimistic, but I think I'm being realistic. Yes, we have the 4th best record in the AL for now, but I don't think that will last very long. The Twins are not trying to win WS, they are just trying to make money. This seems to be the annual modus operndi.

Whether it's the FO or ownership doesn't matter at all to me. But there were many possible sighnings the Twins could have made during the off season and did nothing, and there were many possible trades they could have made prior to the deadline and didn't (the best possibilities are gone). This is a real thing, well I think it's real, ok, maybe not real, but it is a thing. Everything is a thing, well maybe not everything. Where was I going with this? I get lost when I have to think a little. Kinda like the Twins when they have to think about maybe trying to get a WS.

Seth Stohs' Updated Top 30 Minnesota Twins Prospects (Midseason 2024)
Heiny commented on Seth Stohs's blog entry in SethSpeaks.net
Great post Seth. Love following these young guys through their devleopment. What do we know about Conner Prielipp? Also, what are your thoughts on how many and who of these guys might see action at Target Field in 2025? Which also begs the question, who do you feel may be gone from the ML roster next year? Keppler, Margot, Santana? Possibly another young outfielder or two? I wonder because I think our youth is strong and our payroll looks to be very conservative again next year. Any thoughts?- 33 comments

Twins Top 20 Trade Value Series: 11-20
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My problem with trading for an ace type starter is that it would only be a rental. The Twins will not pay the price of a multi-year ace type starter plus the trade pieces would be extremly high. A rental type starter would also be pretty costly but I wouldn't want to trade any pitching prospects. If we could get a top pitching rental for pieces that we have deep positional depth, then maybe but I just don't see it happening. Those pitchers are going to have many suiters. I am betting that the Twins will go into the post-season with Lopez, Ryan, and Ober and hope for the best. Good trade pieces in my opinion, would maybe be Julien, Keaschal, Gonzalez, Larnach, Kirilloff, Winkour and lesser prospects from infield and outfield. I just don't see us getting a top pitcher for some of these guys. Off limits would be our top prospects Lee, Rodriguez, Walker, Lewis. Trade deadline should be very interesting for a lot of teams, I just don't think the Twins will be one of them.- 24 replies

How many wins has Rocco cost the Twins in 2024?
Heiny commented on ashbury's blog entry in Left Coast Bias
Wow, I guess I'm a little late to the conversation, but this whole thought process is flawed. The real truth is that Rocco should be fired immediately and "I SHOULD BE HIRED AS THE NEW MANAGER". C'mon people, this is a "no-brainer". All joking aside, I'm not a big fan of Rocco but I honestly believe that the manager does make a difference. If the team continues to win under Rocco, then it could be possible that I'm wrong. Hahahahahah. Nope, that couldn't be! -
Minnesota Twins Prospect Retrospective: Brooks Lee
Heiny replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Play them where the coaches feel best. I don't care. But I look at a future with an infield of Miranda, Lee, Correa, Lewis Jeffers and Julien. And an outfield of Wallner, Buxton, Em Rod, Larnach and Kiriloff and a backup catcher, and I will be tickled with this offense. The big question for this team always seems to pitching. Lewis vs. Lee????? C'mon, if they're both healthy, they both play. They will both be great offensive, and good to great defensive players. There really shouldn't be an arguement here. -
The Freak: How Does Royce Lewis Make It Look So Easy?!
Heiny replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IMO, Royce is the most dynamic and talented player to enter the league since Ken Griffey Jr. and he may end up being the best when it's all over. (if he can stay healthy). Yes, I realize there have been alot of great players I feel that he is passing over, including Betts, Trout, and Ohtani. But with his infectious personality and clubhouse presence, this is something that I haven't seen in Mn. since Kirby. If the Twins should ever let this kid go, I will probably go with him, and that's saying alot. One mans opinion. -
If the Twins were looking for starting pitching, they would probably be looking at all other teams injured lists. Thats where we find our SP free agents. LOL.

I agree whole heartedly. I've been saying for weeks "Julian got a quick 7 homers to start the season and now seems to think he might be Joey Gallo". He leads the team in strike-outs, and that just cannot be. It is claimed that he knows the strike zone so well, then he needs to start protecting the plate when he has two strikes on him. And stop trying to hit the ball to Mars. It may be necessary to send him to St. Paul with the idea of greatly improving his batting average. Oh, and by the way, welcome to TD.

Totally agree with this argument. I still value batting average, but what if your leadoff hitter goes 4 for 4, but then gets picked off of first all 4 times? The batting average stat would seem to mean somewhat less then, wouldn't it? Digging a little deeper into the stats is important. I just like to watch the game and judge for myself who did good things and who didn't. Take Margot for instance. Take him far far away.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a big proponent of changing the rules. But, they have bungled that pretty significantly quite a bunch recently. (In my humble opinion). For example, there has never been a clock in baseball. CHANGED. The Manfred Man. Ridiculous. CHANGED. The rule change for pitchers seems like a much better idea than either of these two rules changes. (Again, in my opinion). But alas, I am a hardcore traditionalist and prefer to leave rules alone unless there is a perfectly logical and safety issue invlolved.

Let's take this all back to the basics. 1. MLB "should" want to get their product in front of as many eyeballs as possible, thus drawing income from those eyeballs plus growing the fan base. Any arguments here? 2. By restricting game coverage from the people who want to watch the games is the exact opposite of how to grow the game and also restricts the possible income from those fans. Arguments? 3. Nobody is making any money off the people who can't watch the games. 4. Every aspect of this controversy stems from greed.(So this really is shooting themselves in the foot.) From my perspective, I still get to see the Twins on Bally through my cable company that is delivered via Amazon Fire stick. But, I obviously don't see this lasting. Also, I would love to be able to watch other MLB games that are not in my market(also MiLB games.). That is all pretty simple, right? Cable is gradually going away. Streaming is taking over. MLB - take over the whole shebang with your MLBTV, no blackouts, no exceptions. Set up pricing that will make a profit without gouging the fan. We have the technology. How hard could it be? Sheesh, if they could make Steve Austin a 6 million dollar man back in the 70's, and fly to the moon, they should be able to figure out how to get baseball to the fans across the whole country.

How Much More Time Does Carlos Santana Have?
Heiny replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Regardless of what was expected of Santana, Rocco continues to play him. He may be the worst hitting 1B in the league where Kirilloff has been one of our better hitters. Santana, in my opinion, is clearly over the hill. His defense is not so much better than Kirilloffs as to make him a regular starter. He has been nearly an automatic out. So, the question was, "How much more time does Carlos Santana have left?" I would hope very little. When injured players start to return, Santana should be one of the first to be let go. Congrats on a very good career, but it should be over before June. And he can take Rocco with him. -
Did Edouard Julien Sell Out Too Much for Power?
Heiny replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Julien: tied with Castro for team league in strike outs, .179 BA? Is this what got him to the bigs? I think we have a team wide problem. Getting on base is a problem. Scoring runners from scoring position with less than two outs is a problem. 3/5ths of a starting rotation is a problem. I guess 4th place in the division is about where we belong. It would be 5th place if the White Sox weren't even more horrible than we are. My pre-season optimism is about gone. How bout a managerial change, a batting coach change and an organizational approach change. Definately time for some kind of change. Twins games have been downright boring.- 36 replies

What if Matt Wallner is Just That Good?
Heiny replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If I was going to predict Walners #s they would be good #s due to historical performance. But I generally like to let the players play and let them show their own worth. To this point I believe he has earned a starting spot in LF. And until he is beaten out by someone else or traded I'm not worried about his #s. But I guess we have to talk about something in the winter, huh?- 39 replies

What's Left in Pitching Free Agency for the Twins?
Heiny replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I guess I'm not very good at following directions but, that unmentionable guy would be my choice for a minor league deal with performance bonuses. Low risk, high reward, if there is any problems "of any kind" he's an easy DFA. Seems like the highest reward possible for this situation. I would give the guy another chance.- 84 replies

I just can't believe the team would allow them to do this. Rocco should know better. If the players are out for the whole year, do the Twins still have to pay their salaries? The wives should have put their foot down. These young people are just going too far to try to be different. I don't even think I'm going to follow this team anymore if they can't use a little common sense. Sheeesh. P.S. Start practicing bunting again. P.S.S and the hit and run.
