  1. And he went for 85 million.... that seems like a slight underpay, honestly.
  2. Bumgarner to the Diamondbacks. If the Twins don’t get Ryu now, they’ll have to trade for someone big (like Kluber). This fan base won’t be happy otherwise. Edit: deal was for 80-90 million. That seems extremely reasonable.
  3. Apparently he gets 5%. $40.7 million. Boras makes more than any of the players per year, and I doubt he will retire anytime soon
  4. Gerrit Cole to the Yankees. 9 years 324 million. My goodness that is a large contract for a pitcher
  5. I suspect Cole is going to get 280 million + for 8-9 years now...... The Bumgarner and Ryu markets also got a bit higher too...
  6. 6 straight years of being terrible certainly didn’t help revenue. That’s why I think that 140-160 million dollar range is reasonable. The team needs to capitalize on the opportunity to win so a new generation can fall in love with the game.
  7. If the Twins have a payroll of like 140-160 million, I would be happy. Would put them in top 10-15 range of payroll, which a team with a newer publicly funded stadium and World Series aspirations should have
  8. Phillies got Wheeler. Still trying to buy their way to a title.... 5 years 120 million..... wonder what berrios will get once he hits free agency...
  9. If the twins can get Bumgarner or Ryu, I think we will all be content. I don’t think Wheeler is worth 110 million. I think he’s slightly better than odorizzi. Can easily find a trade too with all of the prospects in the system.
  10. This looks straight out of the early 2000s..... Roided up mascot, gross font, and incredibly cheesy name. The rest of the minor league teams have good names (in my opinion). This on the other hand.....
  11. SDSU ALUMNI BLAKE TREINEN BECOMES A FREE AGENT. TWINS YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. Edit: I guess the Athletics couldn’t find a trade partner. If Wes Johnson thinks he can get Treinen back under control, 8 million dollars for a guy with incredible stuff is a solid deal. Take a risk Falvey/Levine!
  12. 1 of 2 things are going to happen, in my opinion: 1. Josh Donaldson is signed to a 2-4 deal with a 20-25 million $ annual rate, and Sano is moved to first base. 2. Cron is signed close to spring training at 4-5 million $ for a 1 year contract. I really don’t see a lot of good trade options (lack of decent first basemen in the league). I’m betting Raley gets called up somewhat soon (or makes opening roster) if Cron is kept.
  13. The Reds are apparently moving Moustakas to second with Suarez being the third basemen. Heck of an infield for sure
  14. 3 years for 30 million, so your prediction was pretty close. More than I would pay. Gibby will be 35 when the contract is done?
  15. The Rangers are making progress on a Kyle Gibson deal. As a Twins fan, he was a good pitcher at his best and a great person...... but just terrible to watch. I just wish he had a little more trust in his stuff.... the walks hurt his image to Twins fans. Best of luck to him
  16. I have a feeling these will stick. I’m definitely getting one once priced drop a bit. Now, if only the home unis got pinstripes again.....
  17. This winter, the annual election of hall of famers is happening in baseball land. Derek Jeter headlines the class. A person can pick up to 10 people on the ballot, and each player gets up to 10 years on the ballot, depending on if over 5% of people vote for them. Since some of the writers seem to have somewhat horrible ballots, I would like to see some of your guys’s ballots. Here’s mine: (In no particular order) 1. Derek Jeter A legend of the game, and one of the best hitters of our era. Absolute Lock. 2. Larry Walker 3. Andruw Jones 4. Scott Rolen These guys were extremely good defensive players, but also had very good bats. This is Walker’s last year on the ballot. If Edgar Martinez gets in, Larry Walker should be a shoo-in. 5. Barry Bonds 6. Roger Clemens 7. Curt Schilling You CAN’T tell the story of baseball without these three guys, and they all would’ve had the numbers to go into the Hall, controversies/steroids aside. Clemens is a disgusting human being. He still is one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Other guys to ponder for future years: Bobby Abreu, Todd Helton, Jeff Kent, Manny Ramirez, Billy Wagner
  18. It will be interesting to see what the White Sox get in return for McCann.... can’t see the team keeping both. Zack Collins would be a good enough backup
  19. Edwar Colina has a chance to be a really solid MLB pitcher. It shows the depth of this minor league system that he’s only ranked 29th
  20. He looked really rough this year. No velocity and little movement. A minor league contract with a spring training invite and a bonus for making the roster seems about right.
  21. Well deserved for Cruz and Garver! I suspect Polanco and Kepler were also in the running! I already can’t wait for 2020!
  22. I think it was a bad call because 1. A really awful rule and 2. Turner was already at the bag when the throw came in!
  23. Twins claimed a Matt Wisler (reliever for Mariners) off waivers. Hasn’t really ever been good, but must have some potential.
  24. As long as the thumb is OK I would give him that deal. If not... he’s not a MLB caliber player
