  1. Simeon Woods-Richardson and Davide Festa, firehose is being turned on. Get ready to drink!
  2. If Kepler is "The Big Question" in right field, then, according to BRefs projected PA and Reliability projections, there are "Humungous Questions" at six of the other seven non-pitcher positions on the team.
  3. Well, if anyone was ever motivated to have a career year, it would be Margot. The Twins valued him at less than $4 million, since they appear from un-biased angles to have gotten the better prospect. Even with a career year, that option is probably cost-prohibitive to the Twins, but a team with deeper pockets ......??
  4. Now I think I know what's going on here. The Twins are trying to inject a bit of "Fear the Beard" into their roster. Brock Stewart, Bailey Ober and Christian Vazquez all have ****** beards. Most of the rest of the team probably still think their auditioning for a spot on the Yankees roster. Santana and Margot were the pivots after Turner signed with the Blue Jays.
  5. Career numbers against lefties and playing defense look really good for the role. 2023 numbers were not good for either though. Hope he bounces back to his career numbers, otherwise, I don't see the needle moving much from Castro. Larnach, Martin and Keirsey will just have to play OF in St. Paul for awhile.
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/02/marlins-to-sign-tim-anderson.html All five Miami starters must immediately be added to the Cy Young watchlist.
  7. I'm all about some schadenfreude at the expense of Boras. Would love to see all four guys fire him, and then have the Twins extend Lewis while he's trying to save face. He (like the Orange Goblin Freak Daddy) appears to be made of teflon, so this is all likely a pipe dream of mine. Also, INB4 "Why? He's trying to get the most for the players." I think he's trying to get the most for Boras.
  8. Good writing, Cody. I like the changeup. I'm ready for the end of potential free agent fit articles and the like for this offseason. That Twins moment is also one of the worst for me in recent memory. However, Joe Ryan @ San Diego in 2022 and @ Atlanta in 2023 are right up there with it. Ryan is one of my favorites, and those two games were miserable. His slight (and sometimes exaggerated) pause at the end of his delivery only made it worse. Aftersun is one of the A24 movies that I still haven't seen, so I'll have to add that to the list. I watched the Killing of a Sacred Deer last night, so I'll probably need a few days before I go back down that always interesting rabbit hole.
  9. What a terrible, whiny article. They signed a franchise cornerstone to the biggest deal in club history and sit $7 mill ahead of the Twins on 2/5/2024.
  10. See if Teheran, Velasquez (if healthy) or Keller will take an MiLB deal - they are 3 of the 24 starting pitchers available on the MLBTR FA list, and then trade for a higher end pitcher at the deadline if the development and seasoning of the current group doesn't advance enough to cover the #2 spot come playoff time. I mean if Brandon Pfaadt is the bar for quality playoff starter, I'm not too worried. To paraphrase what Jocko stated in another thread - The Twins have the roster to remain the team to beat in the AL Central right now, and that gives them the luxury of time to get a good look at younger and fringe players to see who rises to the top.
  11. Looks like another year of pretending to be an out-of-market customer.
  12. Sending interns to Walt Kowalski's property ... That's a new all-time low for this FO. Might as well setup a GoFundMe for them and channel the money to Jorge Soler.
  13. I'm on board with this only if Buxton is either regular CF or on the IL. A regular outfield of Soler - Castro - Wallner or, slightly less so, Soler - Castro - Kepler with Gimpy Buxton at DH, while either Wallner or Kepler rides the pine, would be a defensive disaster for our flyball prone pitchers. Soler OF 241 Innings (-3 OAA, -22.1 UZR/150) Castro CF 261 Innings (-1 OAA, -19.1 UZR/150) Wallner OF 487 Innings (-4 OAA, -0.4 UZR/150) Kepler RF 972 Innings (4 OAA, 6.3 UZR/150)
  14. The Disco to Dilly comparisons are just silly. Disco's simply a better pitcher than Dilly, and the career numbers prove it. Disco's being brought in to battle for the 5th spot in the rotation, while Dilly was brought in as the default #3 behind Gray and Ryan. My take: Rotation Depth - Improved Bullpen Depth - Improved (Both by the addition of Topa and the domino effect of the Disco/Varland battle) Farm System - Improved Clubhouse - Weakened Lineup Flexibility - Weakened (At this point, Miranda/Larnach is probably the fill-in for Polanco) Financial Situation - Improved
  15. Pretty cool that three of them are currently on the team and came up through the Twins system.
  16. All he needs is to eventually have three of AJ Hinch, Rocco Baldelli, Joe Pohlad or Jim Crane on the Veteran's Committee. Worked for Harold Baines.
  17. Nevermind the five additional years and about 8 times as many plate appearances.
  18. I got my avatar restored, but I'm still seeing the broken response images.
  19. Before my Twins time, but RIP Billy Gardner. He must have greased up Gaetti, Puckett, Hrbek, Viola and co. pretty well to finally run as a unit in '87 with some parts continuing on into '91.
  20. At the holiday party the Twins front office must have replaced Pin The Tail on the Donkey with Put The Lipstick on the Pig.
