  1. I love Polanco but $40MM for two years? Over paid him.
  2. I will listen to every game that Gray pitches against the Yanks. Love the grit and trash talking. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6855549/2025/12/02/sonny-gray-did-not-want-to-pitch-for-yankees/?source=athletic_user_shared_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta “What did factor into my decision to come to Boston, it feels good to me to go to a place now where, you know what, it’s easy to hate the Yankees, right?” he said. “It’s easy to go out and have that rivalry and go into it with full force, full steam ahead. I like the challenge.”
  3. For Gasper, Twins are offering season pass to the Rockies or WSox. You pick.
  4. Inexcusable. Market told him he wasn't going to get $1.7BB; plan B should have been greased like a slick hog. It wasn't.
  5. Another one of those back-loaded contract. Gray earns $31MM 2026. I had forgotten those terms. Not quite sure what Dodgers are going to do when those chickens come home to roost.
  6. Sonny Gray to the Red Sox. https://www.mlb.com/news/sonny-gray-red-sox-cardinals-trade?partnerId=it-20251125-15839582-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20251125-15839582-mlb-1-A&lctg=89773477
  7. .288 SLG doesn't quite meet the definition of 'power-first.'
  8. yesterday. For heavens sake. 30 yr-old .133 career hitter. Mustache is great but insufficient cause for retention. Move on!
  9. Just an old boys club. Names and industries are only concern as barriers. I am confident that Pohlad poured over the books.
  10. I often am as baffled watching Britbox and trying to figure out both the idioms and slang they use.
  11. Oh man, oh man. Definitely going to need a spring guide come February.
  12. Thx <blushes>. That's twice I have done that on the forum.
  13. Derek Falvey got the "Most Self-Assured Person Unwanted Anymore in the Clubhouse" award for the 4th year in a row. He proceeded to compare himself to Ohtani and his 4 MVP awards in a discussion with local reporters.
  14. Keep Falvey away from the batting cage. Toronto Blue Jays stats, before/after hiring of Maki. 2024/2025 BA: .243/267 SLG: .389/.432
  15. https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-finalize-major-league-coaching-staff Like the selection. Young; 5 years as a teacher. Complements Shelton yrs and age. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hallbe001mar Stats.
  16. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5197059/2024/01/12/twins-latin-american-scouting-roman-barinas/?source=athletic_user_shared_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta Long article on Roman Barinas, hired this year to head up the Twins Latin America recruiting. Barinas came into ball through the back door with the Dodgers and has done every staff position in ball except playing ball. Time will tell.
  17. The WS game 7 had an audience of 51MM, with 12 million alone in Japan. Baseball has played the cards <sic> correctly with extracting the best players from Japan. I see greater penetration into Japan in the future. Might the Twins capitalize on any of this? Have to do workarounds on the posting fees, I realize (age/service). Anyone follow Japanese ball? Have insights? How about Tokyo Marlins and Yokohama Rays. Korean/Mexican ball. No separate figures I could find but this years series has to have a positive, longer term effect on the game's popularity. Growth will come, long after I am pushing up daisies.
  18. A dandelion is always a dandelion, never a rose. Would love to be surprised 'cuz 'never say never.' Always hopeful...but not buying ticket package.
  19. Welcome to Oakland (sic)/Sacramento (sic) Athletics land, 2.0.
  20. Heard a passing remark on a podcast re: Varland. He holds the record for most pitcher appearances in any World Series. Quite a year for the lad. I too loved the series. Full of drama. Rooted for Dodgers though would have been happy for Blue Jays to win. Would have been better for baseball, though Jays payroll wasn't anything to sneeze at at $265MM. I
  21. So many parallels with my 35+ yrs of business experience. Everyone in the organization knew the best managers. I always made sure they were the faculty at our new managers' training.
  22. Contracts are based on stats. You take them to the negotiation table. Say you are a pitcher, free agency has finally arrived for you. Average April temperature is 47.* Snow is a known factor. You want to come here? Really?
