  1. Rortvedt is catching for the Dodgers, using finger signals. Not sure; maybe it's Kershaw's preference, possibly pitch com is shot. But 2nd inning?
  2. Factoids from Rick Monday this week: o Avg FB speed, MLB: 93.4mph o Avg BA to date: .245 o Avg wHip: 1.29 o Avg ERA: 4.15 o Avg BB per 9: 3.2 o Avg K per 9: 8.5 o Avg K/BB: 2.64
  3. I am hoping Reds win and eliminate the darn Mets and their exorbitant payroll. Enjoy Reds radio broadcast this afternoon as the Reds move on to the post-season. I look at two things in post season. Who has momentum and who has the best record against teams above .500. While Cleveland has momentum, they don’t have the bats. Post season is all about pitching. We are going to see Brewers vs. Phillies and the Blue Jays vs. Seattle. Yankees pitching is suspect, though they have momentum. Out in the first round. I enjoy Dodgers broadcasts but in listening to them, I find that they too are suspect on the mound despite all their notoriety. If you get a chance, listen to a Reds game when Hunter Greene is pitching. Kid if fabulous. I like the Phillies and Mariners in the World Series. Mariners in 6 games. Polanco for the ring and parade.
  4. Dear 'Ol Emilio got his 32nd save for the Reds today, compiling a 2.88 ERA this year. Now go figure.
  5. Lots of scouts/eyes on Ryan this eve. Bet he shines.
  6. With the Hamm's recipe of 50 years ago, not today's swill,
  7. Yeppir, wearing the green fatigues. Plane landed back in San Francisco, 280 guys with cheers; offloaded to numerous jeers.
  8. Glad to hear. I spent a year in Thailand during our foray into Vietnam during the early 70s. I never imagined the rains that could come down with winds. Wild.
  9. 4-seam FB speed for 2026 averages 93.7 mph. I was surprised when Monday quoted it on a Dodgers broadcast. I thought it was higher.
  10. Det/Cleve on MLB-TV, free game, 5.40p. https://www.mlb.com/stories/game-preview/776189
  11. Last regular season start at Dodger Stadium. In an interview, Kershaw begged off whether he would start post-season. He talked about all the others that Roberts had available. I would argue that but we will see.
  12. The other night, had Kershaw/Dodgers final home start of the season on the radio. Rick Monday got all reflective over watching him over the last 17 years. I found myself getting melancholy. It is like speeding past the road signs on the highway at 70 mph. You glance at them and then...they are gone. Just consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to see one of the best pitchers of all time. What a privilege.
  13. And that was Falway's portfolio in Cleve that was hyped so strongly when his United Moving van showed up in the TC. Pitching development. My foot.
  14. I was down there on an Amtrak baseball crawl about 5 years ago. Loved the experience, the fans, the welcome. Great place for a game.
  15. I consider myself an ardent ball fan. I listen to a game every night, many of them Yanks, Dodgers, Reds, Giants, Tigers, and Guardians. Have listened to one Twins game, Yanks. Check the Twins box score daily, as well as well Skenes and Greene pitch. I have averaged attending 10 games/yr at Target. This year? 0. They have lost me.
  16. Just looked at comparable run differentials. Only 3 teams have worse differentials than the Twins. Lots of ways to spell 'collapsed.'
  17. Couldn't figure out why so few posts, and then I saw a post RE: football. Haven't seen a game except super bowls for 3 years so I forget that is going on.
  18. While I like Joe Maddon, Falvey would never go for someone like him. Maddon has his own mind and wouldn't acquiesce to Falvey.
  19. I have the Yanks/Orioles game on radio. Ben Wagner continues to do excellent PBP, indeed with the Orange and Blacks birds now.
  20. My kids always laugh about their Pops who still carries handkerchieves. Hah, one sheet of TP, eh? Got it covered.
  21. That one surprised me till I took a look at first half vs second half of his season. Downhill slope.
  22. Monday was talking about a special relationship, as he experienced it in his 19 years of MBL, between mates in the on deck circle. Of course there can be camaraderie in the clubhouse; of course there is always a Piercynski around on many clubs.
  23. Injuries and age. Buxton turns 32 this winter. Ober and height. Taller athletes duration diminishes in ball. His hips are giving out. Hips are needed for pitching as seen in his declining velocity. Both athletes are at greater risk to injuries in 2026.
  24. Rick Monday, in the Dodger/Giants game last night made an interesting comment. He stated the importance of a constant order in the lineup. Batters in a constant lineup order can develop relationship with the guy on deck. Observations by a trusted teammate. "Was that a strike I missed or was it the ump?...What do you see about my swing that I am missing; am I flattening it too much on the fast ball...What am I doing on the curve..." Baldelli's roulette fashion lineup order defeats the "camaraderie" (Monday's term for this) that develops over the season with a constant order.
  25. He means, "ach," or I do. Some German used at home when I was a kid. "Ach," (pronounced 'aack') I screwed up that test.
