  1. Loathe the little sawed off attention desperate stain.
  2. i I couldn’t believe they took him out for another rookie. Too risky and Duffey was in a groove. At least give hi, a batter or two. Rocco has done really well this year, but a lot to ask of two rookie pitchers in high leverage in NY.
  3. I liked the 87 and 91 teams. They were resilient. The Gardy Teams - not at all. Played with their balls in throats, and shaking like girls against the Yankees.
  4. I like the no ‘give up’ with our group. Gardy (Hardly) and the ole boys would have wet themselves right now and thrown down the towel or raised the white flag.
  5. Smoltz isn’t a yankee lover (just didn’t do much Twins homework), but Costas is embarrassing himself.
  6. You clearly never played 3rd (or baseball). That is a 1 in 4 ball. Particularly when you are shading inside and it’s smoked with a higher hop.
  7. Leach with jig heads slow crawled up drop offs as primary, small shad raps as back ups or twisters slow rolled. Lindy rigs and slip bobber's with leaches when it's slow and they bites aren't lively. I say that from years of walleye fishing with 'old wise men', while I now fish mostly for muskies.
  8. Rosario has his moments when he can make you bang the head, but he has so many highlights and seems so much a part of the core culture of this team that it would be a REAL mistake to trade him. Pitching or not, we need to consider other options. Rosario, Polanco, Sano, Kepler, Buxton, and Berrios are the CORE of this team (and pretty cheap for a few more years). When you add Garver, Arraez, and the veteran Cruz and Gonzalez, you have a wonderful balance to this team that you must lock up. I love Lewis, AK, Larnach, and others, but you just cannot assume they can replace these CORE players. Lock them up for 3 more years, and add a FA pitcher, sign your own, and push some of the young pitchers to bigger roles or the phenoms get pushed up.
  9. Deceptive motions get figured out in a hurry. Didn't last, and he cannot break glass with that fastball. DONE. Baseball is hard
  10. Hildenberger with an 85mph fastball. Career over. He shouldn't be back, and NO PLAYOFFS
  11. Graterol in for the playoffs, but in lower leverage situations (not 0 or 1 run differential). Next year, he must start for most of the year, and IN THE MAJORS. If they want to ease him in with long relief early, a'la Santana, I am OK with that; particularly in April where 4 SPs may be fine. No Romero crap - full change to reliever - how did that work out? (He is now neither a SP or RP). Sign Odo and Pineda to add to Berrios - they have earned it, and start Dobnak/Smeltzer/Thorpe race for early season #4, May/June and onward for #5. Gibson should be gone, and Perez should have his option picked up cheaply and forced to earn any starts (and/or cut him loose early season). We have plenty of other hard throwers like Acala or Romero, and Thorpe/Smeltzer/Dobnak 5 spot losers that can be added to current relievers mid/late year 2020 (Rogers and May can close from each side). Also, NO to Dallas Kuechel and anyone like him added to SP next year. Spend on new contracts for Sano and Rosario and maybe another year for Cruz - do it this winter. Work in Dobnak, Smeltzer, and others in 5 spot until you are sure they are not the answer throughout 2020 - we need to get rid of blockage. Very soon, you may have Balazovic, Doan, Colina (all in 2020); Sands, Valimont, Ober, and maybe Centerino (in 2021 to 2022) to work in or move to RP. Graterol needs to be handled correctly. He is TOO important to the future. Wasting those bullets in the minors at SP or at RP in the minors is what I said - a WASTE. He should spend the winter working on his change and refining difference between 2 seam and 4 seam and be ready for 1-4 innings in April per outing (perhaps paired with runner-up for early #4 and later #5 spot. I am also very excited about Balazovic in 2020, and maybe Doan. Exciting times for Twins with young SPs Those are my thoughts.....fire away
  12. Thank the Lord we didn't pick up Kimbrel. He now has a 5.95 ERA, is 0-3 with a few blown saves, and has a WHIP of 1.53. He has given up 7 HRs in 19 innings, too. I would rather gamble on what we have (including youngsters) than burn $ on a deal for guys like this.
  13. I think Sano has 5 of the 10 most important HRs on the Season (from a Twins Daily article a few weeks ago), and counting this massive blast. So, a question.....Can we just kill the Negative Nancy crapola as it relates to Sano, Rosario, and other targets on this board? Some of these guys are/were hurt. Some are still pretty young. Some have had their weaknesses figured out for now, and need to adjust. Some are just fatigued around game 150. I have said it before - baseball is HARD. I know from experience, and football and hockey have less failure, if you are an All-Star with success 1/3 of the time. Do we agree? We are on this train with the passengers we have. Just not sure we have enough in the pitchers car.
  14. THATS why Sano matters. He is a BIG Time HR threat, and he isn't expensive yet. I will take the SO's, when he can change the game with one swing that easily. Needs to work on outside slider, however, but there is time.
  15. The Yankees have played TWO more games. We can hang
  16. IF they can just keep this kid healthy - look out. His slider is filthy, and that gas is WAY to easy for him to generate. Could be an All-Timer if they can keep him healthy, focused, and humble. When Bremer said that is the 'fastest the Twins have seen in a LONG time...', who the HELL is he talking about? I have never seen anyone hit 99, let alone 100+ in 70% of his fastballs. At least Morris called him out about it - we have never seen this level of gas, nor control and movement. Special kid at 21.
  17. I would never trust T. Hildenberger in a high-leverage situation in the MLB playoffs unless he has several weeks of total stability. I want to see that they haven't figured him and his pedestrian stuff out - as I fear that MLB always figures these types of pitchers out, those that have more windup/delivery deception tHan true "stuff"
  18. This analysis is consistent with what some of us have thought all along. Going for the high-end (expensive in $ and prospects) relievers is STUPID and rarely works out. It is better to scout your internal options or high ceiling options that are cheap and other teams don't have time/patience to develop due to scuffling and an inability to hit their peak (but something you can tweak).
  19. I know he strikes out quite a bit. But, where are all those board members that wanted to dump Sano at his low point (4 of the 10 HRs)? He needs more time to become a complete player, but he is in a great place with Cruz, Baldelli, and all the minor league players he matriculated with, and the pressure if off him to carry the team. He is going to have a few monster years in the next few (if they get him signed).
  20. This point is 'spot on'. If we overpaid for a starter, and had the same results as the winter teams that acquired the best relief pitchers (whom were almost a universal mess), this site would be out with their pitchforks. There were not good/great deals to be had, as proven by all teams seeking SP depth. I am comfortable that Falvine knew what the 'ask price' was for some of our targets, and it was too much. I am fine not losing a Graterol, Duran, Balazovic, plus an AK, Lewis, or Larnach for hope that they will perform better than what we have. Minor was not better, nor was Stroman, and Thor would likely have cost 3 of the above. Greinke was simply too expensive at his age (and I believe we needed his consent).
  21. Well, I saw more odd movement on his 98 and 99 mph hour fastballs in this SSS than I have seen with most hard throwers (particularly for a kid that just turned 21). If it was just straight, MLB hitters might figure it out, but if he shows that tail action with that kind of speed, even if there is contact, it won't be squared up. If he exhibits an effective slider and cranks his 4 seam up to 100+, he will be extremely hard to hit with that arsenal. IT is some of the easiest looking 100 mph I can recall seeing too, and I did see Ryan, JR Richard, Randy Johnson, Zumaya, etc in their prime.
  22. IT is time for Graterol; he can add a different dimension with his stuff, if he can mentally handle it. I think with Colina, Alcala, Duran, and then, Balazovic, Sands, Vallimont, and Enlow, we are really on the forefront of some high potential home-grown pitchers. WTH happened to Landon Leach? High draft pick, and he has pitched 34 innings in 3 years!?!
  23. I hope we are done hearing about how Sano is a declining talent. He is still learning to deal with not being able to rely on sheer ability and power to get out of his funk(s). He has clearly worked hard; to come in with a better 'baseball shape,' to be more discerning at the plate, to adapt/adjust to adversity and power through. I think that he must be very attentive to what has helped him renew expectations and his capabilities. I also would not diminish the work of Rowson, Baldelli, and the influence of Nelson Cruz. I think Cruz is the 'Inspirational MVP' of this team. He has clearly helped the entire team - and SANO. Brilliant move by FO. Now, sign him to a reasonable extension before his costs increase. Make it incentive laden.
