  1. Worst case, we have 4 #3 SP and a handful of #4/5 type SPs. Best case, we see Maeda dominate in the AL, Berrios take that next step, Odo continues his rise towards his walk year, Pineda from last summer returns, Wes Johnson helps Bailey improve on his second half numbers, Hill is healthy for the final 3 months and a rookie or 2 dominates during their opportunities. We can seen aces evolve and come out of nowhere. I have faith in these arms, Wes Johnson and our depth.
  2. Top to bottom, I will take the Twins for the season. But when October rolls around, it is valuable to have a workhorse like Verlander on the mound. Can Berrios become that guy? That is our hope and I think he has the arsenal to do it
  3. I love his patience at the plate and would be happy if he repeated last year for the next 10 years. I grew up watching Tony Gwyn and Wade Boggs be patient and wait for their pitch. Just like a pitcher doesn't have to throw 95 to be successful, a hitter doesn't have to hit homers to be successful and valuable
  4. Blankenhorn should be inspired by Josh. If you compare their minor league numbers, there isn't a big difference. If Josh had been with a team that had some more veterans, he might not have ever gotten the legit shot he got with Oakland.
  5. If May had not given up a few too many hanging curves last year, he would have had an epic season. If he can eliminate those this year, he will command some big money in the off season.
  6. Good hitters can easily go outside the zone and get a pitch. Might be easier to go after an outside fastball than a nasty breaking ball. I love the aggressiveness of the Twins hitters and I hope they don't stop this year. The only pitch I wish they could lay off is the high fastball, not good odds for any hitter
  7. After watching Chacin throw BP for the Brewers last year, I just don't see the love for him. I'm going with Hardy, would like another lefty that is effective against RH bats too
  8. And I want an SI Swimsuit model to be my next wife or mistress!
  9. Cave is a starting OF on a losing team. I just don't see enough defense or offense for him to warrant 500 ABs. No issues with him being an injury fill in, but he is not a stat filler
  10. Will be interesting to see what they do if Cruz has another year like last year. At some point father time will kick in, but I would keep riding that horse as long as we can
  11. Good read. A lot of new faces around this year, hope the results are the same or better.
  12. People need to get over their fear of the Yankees! We can go toe to toe with them and win a series. This team is more balanced, has deeper SP and the bats are more experienced
  13. Thought pitching prospects weren't good until they had TJ surgery? The list of guys that have TJ and continue to dominate is really long. Hope he continues to dominate a d he gets to play in Boston and makes them regret backing out
  14. Maybe the Dodgers have to kick in another player.
  15. Do you really think the Dodgers were holding him back to save money? I doubt that! IMO his 2 pitch selection and walks kept him from going more than 6 IPs. Maybe Wes can get his walk rate down and squeeze another inning out of him on avg. Love this move! Now we have an above average rotation and flexibility if injuries hit
  16. Love the trade! Sucks to lose Graterol, but out front office has come out on top in their trades so far. So maybe last September was a way to audition him as trade bait. Maeda is going to cost us peanuts for the next 4 years!
  17. Exciting future ahead for the Twins! If him and Brusdar develop like we all hope, this could give us the 2 front line starters we have been hoping for!
  18. All 3 had some good outings last year and gained valuable experience. With a steady bullpen, none of them will be asked to get 7 innings every night. Just get us 4-5 and keep it close. Just as Dobnak and Smeltzer surprised last year, I'm sure we will have a few arms surprise this year.
  19. Romero needs to refine his craft. Hopefully the arm responds to the coaches ideas and he can eliminate some walks.
  20. Is it me, or has the writing on this site gone to the birds? Every day we have an article that is a major reach on the possible or the impossible. This site used to site facts and prospects, not crap like the competition
  21. Some great points brought up ITT. Fact is that every long term contract carries risk. Wheeler and Ryu could blow ligaments and have 1.5+ wasted seasons. As for aging and performance, look no further than Cruz. If Donaldson takes care if his body, there is no reason he still he isn't producing in 4 years.
  22. We have seen plenty top prospects flame out before they got to the majors. Gordon could have brought a solid return 2 years ago and now Seth projects he gets DFA'd for Donaldson. Now is the time to strike!
  23. I believe he really has confidence in himself and is willing to go year to year. As a Twins fan, I would love to see him locked down for 5 years
