  1. I believe the record was for a starter (which Swarzak was at the start).
  2. Thursday - when Mastroianni comes off the DL
  3. I'm assuming with the Carroll trade that Escobar comes back to take his place. Then Thursday when Mastro is ready to come off the DL that either Colabello gets sent down, Justin gets traded or maybe Thomas gets DFA'd (because he doesn't have options left).
  4. MLBTraderumors and Mike Bernadino confirm.
  5. It's official - Doumit to 7-Day Concussion DL, Willingham activated
  6. No Doumit, no Plouffe, no Florimon and no Butera - oh wait, we don't have to worry about him any more. But late in the game we could lose our DH when Carroll has to come in and pitch again.
  7. Doesn't really matter I guess, he passed through waivers and was sent to AAA.
  8. D'Backs DFA'd Tony Sipp on Sunday. Wouldn't you really rather have him over Duensing? Better ERA, better WHIP, better K/IP (over 10 per 9 Inn). I just don't trust Duensing any more. I'd grab Sipp if we could get him, he knows the division from his years on Cleveland.
  9. Nothing today- I'm just frustrated with him.
  10. Can we please put get rid of Duensing, ship Diamond to the pen and bring up Albers now?
  11. Need 2 40-man slots for both Albers and Ibarra. So trade Duensing and ship Butera to the Cardinals - they need catching help. Two C prospects for the 2 of them would be just fine.
  12. Ship him off for nothing. Move Diamond to his bullpen slot and bring up Albers.
  13. Here's the thread discussion. http://twinsdaily.com/twins-minor-league-talk/7479-who-must-added-fall.html
  14. Maybe I missed something in the broadcast, but I don't remember them talking about Butera at all. They did say that when the shakeup came just before the all-star game that it was necessary for the Twins to call up a catcher because if Mauer was called away because of the baby like last night, it would have been a "dire situation" because they would have lost Mauer, and Doumit, now the starting right fielder, would have had to shift to catcher. Leaving one catcher and two OF's on the roster which would have been untennable. I believe they were talking more about bringing up Herrmann after the break, than bringing up Butera now.
  15. I guess Gardy is reading - Herrmann in RF today, Dooms behind the plate, Butera on the bench.
  16. Are we really recalling Butera while Joe's on paternity leave? Hopefully it's just one last time and he'll be thrown in into whatever trade Ryan can make. Let's not give Gardy a chance to use him. Thank god Herrmann had the big hit last night and that Butera got no sleep last night flying out to the west coast so Gardy won't be tempted to start Butera today. If he doesn't want Herrmann catching a day game after a late night, swap Dooms and Herrmann as catcher and RF.
  17. Do the Twins have any minor leaguers who might end up as rule 5 next year who we could lose but might not be part of our future, that we could use as sweeteners in a trade? They might not bring much but could be used as chips to save us from paying full salaries of players we trade.
  18. You want an ESPN writer batting second?
  19. Don't expect the Twins to go outside the organization for a new manager. In just over 50 years they have done it 3 times - Bill Rigney, Gene Mauch, and Ray Rabbit Miller. If it's an interim manager, expect it to be Scott Ullger - he's the guy who takes over when Gardy's tossed from a game. There might be about a 10% chance of Molly. If Ullger is interim, they bring up Mientkievicz to take his place probably coaching 3B while Vavra moves to coaching first. Setting up Dougie to manage next year
  20. I'll add another kid to Jeremy's High School hitters - Jacob Gatewood, another shortstop (although at 6'5" he could outgrow the position). He's got power, a good stroke and has shown leadership. He's been compared to Jeter, A-Roid, and Tulowitski. A pitcher might be nice, but I don't see Rodon going anything but #1. I'd rather go with Turner, Gordon, Gatewood or Jackson. It's a deep draft and the Twins will likely have another top 5 pick (which also means a high second rounder). One of those guys will be available as low as fifth (if not more).
  21. This was definately the trade that keeps on giving
  22. Next year is a deep draft and as much as I'd like to add a frontline pitcher, I'd love to add a shortstop (Gatewood, Turner or Gordon) - that would set us up with an unbelievable lineup. Turner has plus-plus speed, Gordon has the bloodline and Gatewood has been compared to Jeter, Tulowitski and A-Rod, lots of power and leadership. Twins will end up somewhere in the top 10 picks no matter how well they do, no need to intentionally tank.
  23. I was at the game last night and there is no question about this. This is a poor Yankees team. They have one good player in Cano, one decent player in Gardner and a bunch of over-the-hill guys or never-wases in the rest of the lineup. If they went back to calling themselves the Highlanders we might be able beat them. They're in the fans heads as well. Everyone at the ballpark is lethargic. Once the Twins fell behind, the fans were all resigned to defeat (including myself). Maybe when we play the Yankees we should bring TK back to manage. In his 15 years he played close to .500 ball (.468) against them including 1991's 12 -2 record. If the Twins are going to win another pennant, we will need to beat the Yankees.
  24. It's actually supposed to be a pretty good international market. I'd rather get back extra slot money and go after a good shortstop prospect and pitching. I'd put up some of our bullpen or other tradeable players for extra slot money. The Cubs now have over $5M for international free agents.
  25. Coming into the season, I wasn't a fan of Florimon, but he has done better than I expected. Let's learn from history. Everything is a knee-jerk reaction. If we had some patience, we'd still have Hardy - a gold glove shortstop with power. Florimon has basically played a half season. Could we please let a guy play a couple seasons and see if he improves instead of throwing someone away after 90 or 100 games. I think Florimon will one day be a guy who can hit .260 with some speed (fine for someone in the 9 hole) and be a consistent fielder. Let's let this play out before abandoning him after a short audition.
