  1. Jonathan Gray has tested positive for Adderall, a banned substance. It won't result in a suspension, but Keith Law indicates that it could result in a huge discount in signing bonus. Meaning Gray will likely sign for cheap with the Astros. It seems the Twins are destined to take Kohl Stewart.
  2. LEN III says to look for Clete Thomas with a corresponding 40-man move.
  3. Tuesday will be 10 days since Arcia was sent down. If Ramirez isn't ready to come off DL, then it would make sense that Arcia will be back, but they can't announce the move until it's been 10 days for Arcia since it's not an injury situation. He couldn't be recalled for 10 days unless it was an injury.
  4. Seth, all of those options would require a 40-man move as well. Isn't it more likely for Wilkin to come off the Concussion DL?
  5. Colabello was optioned after the game. Is Ramirez ready to come off 7-day DL. I haven't heard much since he went on.
  6. As of 2012 SD is a larger metro area (so Twins are 10th smallest), however the Twins are the 11th smallest TV market. So I'm not sure which they go by.
  7. From his lips to God's ears - it would be an absolute miracle to get Gray!
  8. Good question JohnnyD. I also have another question - can Colabello actually play 3B. He is listed at 3rd on the Rochester roster through MiLB.com. I thought he was just 1B with some ability to play corner OF.
  9. Morneau is on a pace for 43 doubles, about 10 homers and 112 RBI - not worth the $15 million he is currently being paid, however, I'll take the 112 RBI's and the good fielding he's giving us. His trade value IS going down, so hang onto him for his leadership to the young guys coming up and make him a qualifying offer. Best case scenario he says no and we get a draft choice in the 2014 draft which will be much stronger than this year's (better than anything we'd get in a trade). Worst case he says yes and we negotiate a 2-year deal for $15-$16M total. He knows he's not the player he was before the concussion and likely would take a cut. He's still a very good veteran presence which you need on a contending team - think Roy Smalley and Don Baylor in 1987.
  10. Chris Parmelee is not a long term starter. He still has the potential to be a nice piece for a contending team. I've always said he is the equivalent of Randy Bush - a guy who could hit 10-15 homers, drive in 50-60 runs and play a little bit of RF, a little 1B, DH and be a nice pinch hitting option. It'll take some seasoning, but with the group coming up, that will be his role. Offer Justin a two-year deal, and if he turns it down take the draft choice. Parms is not the solution as starting 1B, now or in the future.
  11. Thank you all for your comments - looked it up, Twins are the 11th smallest market (of course). I guess we could hope that San Diego rises by 216,500. Greater San Diego population (as of 2009) 3,053,793; Twin Cities 3,269,814.
  12. Does anyone know something about who is eligible to take part in the competitive lottery? It seems to me that if St. Louis and Detroit are eligible, that the Twins could be eligible as well. Could we possibly get an additional choice in next year's draft, which looks stronger than this year's?
  13. Brock - it's a home & home series. First 2 games are at Miller Park, last 2 at Target.
  14. Since both of those guys are considered untouchables, I guess this is where reality and fantasy come together. Mauer is going nowhere and those guys won't be traded. We might as well insist on Buchholtz and Middlebrooks - that's as likely as Bogaerts and Barnes.
  15. Like most everyone else, I'd rather have seen Gibby. However, if they had to go off the 40 man anyway - why not Albers? His WHIP and strikeouts match Walters, but his ERA is a full run better than Walters and he's a lefty. We know what Walters has given us, let's try some new blood. Besides, with the team in the midst of a 9-game losing streak and the fans getting antsy, bringing Albers in would create some buzz. Bringing up Walters - meh! It seems that the front office has thrown in the towel and doesn't care if fans show up or not (kind of like the late 90's)
  16. Question - Does Worley have any options left? If so, send him down when Deduno comes up and worry about Worley's replacement over the weekend. Preferably Gibson.
  17. I can hear Scully with every word in this. This is just perfect!
  18. No roof, but sensible schedulers. 14 home games for the Twins in April and only 9 in July? We play two 2game series against the Marlins, one here, one there - wouldn't you schedule the April series in Miami and the June series in Minnesota? Fewer April games here, more mid summer games.
  19. Glad to see Escobar get the start. Florimon already has 2 errors. He makes some spectacular plays and blows routine ones - lack of concentration, fine instinctive play.
  20. All of a sudden, the schedule to start the season looks managable. Every one is 1-2 or 2-1, and we get to play KC, the Marlins, the Mets, and the dredded White Sox after the Orioles. We have an outside shot at .500 (or dare I say, a little better for April). It helps when we don't start the season against the Yankees, Toronto and Boston.
  21. Remember, he doesn't have to be on the 25 man, just the 40-man. I'm sure he'll start out at AAA. The Jays must have someone they can take off their 40-man roster.
  22. On Comcast in St. Paul FSN + isn't listed, but plays on Channel 13 which is usually infomercials. Search around you may find it. It's usually used when FSN is showing a Wild or Timberwolves game.
  23. Tonight - FSN Plus (also YES Network) Twins vs. Yankees @ 6:05 Batting 5th - 3B Miguel Sano - be there or be square.
  24. One of Boston's offers was in fact Lester, Lowrie, Justin Masterson and Coco Crisp, but that has nothing to do with the topic of this year's roster, so bringing it back to the discussion. Personally, I'm not seeing Florimon adding much to the equation. If it was me, Escobar makes the team as the starting shortstop and emergency catcher, Florimon gets sent down along with Butera, and that opens two bench spots for a couple of decent bats. Butera and Florimon are a phone call away at Rochester in an emergency. Florimon is batting .222 while Escobar is batting .333, and in my opinion Escobar is a more consistent fielder than Florimon who last year had a tendency to make spectactular plays and blow some routine ones.
