  1. Who would have thought Pagan would have got a 2 year $20 million contract. I might have gone slightly over, but look at our own Bader who we signed in that $5 to $6 million range, he is looking at a 2-3 year deal in the the $10 million to $13 million AAV range.
  2. If he we make him more of a platoon player he may have an OPS above .800. Those type of hitters don'e grow on trees. Maybe he does improve a little having a few more days off in the field as well. Its not a bad option. Its in Josh Bells best intrerest to have a good season. I am sure he would like 1 more short term solid deal to end his career on. If he were to put up a season similar to 2022 - i am sure sure someone would give him a 2-3 year contract in the $30 to $45 million range.
  3. After torching the Twins on his way out I would say its doubtful from both sides. If the Twins have the highest offer I am sure he would sign. His stats . . .just aren't that good. In his short sample size for 2023 he looked good in the bullpen.
  4. That is in regards to Fairbanks - the closer for Tampa Bay last year.
  5. 1 of Coulombe, Thielber, or Taylor Rogers Then best righthander you can get, Maybe a Chris Martin, Fairbanks if only utilize in when temps are warmer. Hunter Harvey is coming off of an injury. Robertson scares me. Weaver had good stats in the Yankees bandbox. Dominguez has a little bit of closing experience. With Jansen getting signed by the tigers, at this point we aren't getting a legit closer unless we are grabbing 1 well past their prime. Only think would be if we were to trade for someone.
  6. Tony, its fine being frustrated with the situation. Most of us get it. When we aren't truly competing - it feels sometimes like a fruitless exercise. The only way we can compete is by hitting on the drafts. Its why I was ok with tanking this year. We definitely need some of these prospects to pan out. If Culpepper, Jenkins and Rodriguez all pan out, then our future looks much more promising, Especially with what appears to be a pretty good crop of pitching coming up through the minors. We are most likely wasting some of the value from Ryan and Lopez and or Buxton in a trade. At this point I am ok with that.
  7. I think this sums it up for me. As a fan, I get to watch what should be at least a decent product on the field. Maybe he gets you something useful at the deadline or maybe the team plays well together and they play themselves into the playoffs. All in all its not bad. I like the potential of the farm system and the 2026 draft. Falvey has been dealt a pretty crappy hand. Outside of his 2 big signings - he has done a pretty good job overall. But if you are going to swing big you better hit.
  8. Players can improve figure things out. No different than say Pagan. The metrics kept stating differently but he just couldn't figure it out . . . until he did. He leveraged it into a 2 year $20 million contract. If bell is cooked how did he put up a .338/.443/.486 in July. Odds are he is between a -.4 and a .4 War based on his previous years. But if he can continue what he ended with I could see a 2+ WAR. Bell in my opinion has a ceiling higher than Santana with the bat - obviously not in the field (where the majority of Santana's valued was accrued). He will provide more than France now the question is how much. The stats say make him a platoon player and drop being a right handed switch hitter. The issue is Clemens is a Left hander too. Its a decent signing for $5 million, but its not going to make us a playoff team most likely.
  9. Rail on the signing if you wish. Does it significantly move the needle, not likely - is it a needle nudger again yes. Is it a potential trade chip if he does decent - absolutely. For the value its not bad. For $20 million there is only so much you can do. Now can he have a breakout year like Harrison Bader did - absolutely. We are in a bit of a purgatory - continuing to try to put a decent product on the field while waiting for our prospects to come up and truly compete. That likely occurs 2028 to 2030.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/news/pete-fairbanks-goes-on-injured-list-with-nerve-related-issue He actually went on the DL for 3 weeks when it flared in 2024. Obviously his stats sucked during those previous weeks. They stated it as a nerve issue but was later confirmed to be a flare up of his raynauds.
  11. I had no idea he had it, then read an article on his likely destinations and it stated he was restricted on destinations due to his raynauds. It was confirmed when I went to the Rays reddit. It was pretty clear the raynauds is an issue in cold temps. They also thought he had declined significantly from previous years.
  12. He loses touch of his fingers in cold temps. Loses almost complete control in those environments. Plus if it flares it sticks around for a while potentially. Having a wife with raynauds it no fun. Excrutiating in cold temps 30-40 degrees and sub temps. Raynaud's (pronounced "ray-NOZ") is a condition where small arteries, usually in fingers and toes, spasm in response to cold or stress, causing them to turn white, then blue, and finally red as blood flow returns, often with pain, numbness, or tingling.
  13. Say what you will, Falvey has one of the highest win percentages of any GM for the Twins. .521% Add in a really strong farm system with what should be a good draft. More than anything I am curious to see how the pitchers look that we drafted last year. There is some real talent in that group.
  14. Data driven info still values recent data vs old data. FYI he had 3 good months, 2 ok months, and 1 awful month. Can we find a way to avoid the awful month. I would not deem $5.75 million an overpay for Bell. Can he overchieve for a year similarly to Bader. Remember his stats hadn't been great for a couple years.
  15. They traded last year, because they didn't see the team competing, saved some money, got some prospects and got a better draft pick. It all values together. This team at best is a competitive team - par for the course for the last 5-6 years. They may outperform and get to the playoffs, but won't be able to do much unless we significantly add to the bullpen.
  16. Are you willing to pay more or less for a player that had a bad april or a bad September? You can say the same but we all know recency bias causes recent performance to be more valued.
  17. Fairbanks isn't an option likely. His Raynauds had him looking primarily at warmer weather climates or dome teams. I have heard, Arizona, Miami, Toronto and Dodgers.
  18. He was a 128 OPS+ in the 2nd half. His 1st half and 2nd half were drastically different. He was dragged down by a horrible April. .137/.228/.275.
  19. I think Boras got nervous, with the Baltimore situation. It decreased the landing spots.
  20. $5.75 million salary and a $1.25 million buyout. Being a mutual option makes it highly doubtful we do the option. But if he is traded, we don't have to pay the buyout either. In that fact the salary is about where I expected it to be.
  21. I feel like we overpaid slightly, but it does give us more options now for trade and relievers. $13 million remaining.
  22. Give Bell a little more credit. His 2nd half stats were really good - The first half not so much. He is known to be a bit of a streaker hitter. His best seasons were 2022 and 2021. Shelton has experience with him though- 6 years ago. He doesn't move the needle a ton though, unless his batting average is above .260. Now how much did we pay him, that is the question.
  23. So just to clarify, we have no indications that Twins have any interest in Gallo, just that Gallo is getting some interest . . . for wait for it . . . at best a minor league contract. I mean what is the point. I came here after reading your satire article. We now have 2 articles - 1 being satire about something that isn't even a story.
  24. Didn't you literally just write an article about Gallo the other day? Boy can you tell its the slow season.
  25. Never mind Fairbanks is likely a no go. Can’t play in colder climates with his Raynauds unless in a dome.
