  1. Is there any wonder that there is no hope when all the writers do nothing but trash everything about the Twins. Give us some positivity, please.
  2. One guy can't hit but plays very good defense (however his OF defense leaves a lot to be desired). He also doesn't seem to be overly fast. The other guy can't hit or play shortstop, maybe not even second base. His actions are slow, his running speed is a gallup at best. And for a guy fighting to continue his career, he doesn't seem very motivated. I would watch the waver wire closely, or work out a minor trade.
  3. He could be an up and down guy just around for emergency callups for a day or 2 when the bullpen needs a fresh arm. Saves them from needing to activate a more valuable piece and burning one of their options. I don't see him as a serious contender for any extended time in the major league bullpen
  4. I have been a Twins fan for over 50 years, and if I was going to go into a tiz every time a Twins season looked bad at the beginning, I'd gave dued if a heart attack years ago. Let them play the games. I mean, look aymt 1987 and 1991. Who'da thunk it. GO TWINS!!
  5. Why can't we just enjoy the games and enjoy watching the players we have, instead of all this constant whining and complaining. Everybody is well aware that that it could be a hard year to compete gi en the team they have. But at the same time there are enough players on this team that might have enough talent to up their game this season and be somewhat competitive. I choose to have HOPE rather than be a doomsayer like the writers on this site. Shame on the lot of you for encouraging an environment of dismay instead of one of hope at the beginning of a new season.
  6. I would guess that any baseball player that has played his whole life and gotten this far probably has some experience at fielding ground balls and taking throws. The footwork will probably be the challenge. It will take some time for him to learn his new position. The biggest challenge is that he now only has 3 option years to learn a new position and break into the major leagues. We've all seen how many players run out of options before they make the grade. One more thing. Didn't I hear he was playing some winter ball at first base.
  7. How sweet it is to hear a positive tone for the Twins season. Every year there is a team or 2 that exceed expectations and a couple that don't meet expectations. For these very reasons. Thank you for the hope. M
  8. Looking at the bonuses paid is misleading. That 1.5 million deal was probably made 2 years ago before any possible ranking was done.
  9. As I read through the comments here, I see a great deal of lack of business knowledge. Revenue is not income. Revenue is only what you have before you start deducting expenses. And payroll is far from the only expense of running a team. Just think of the things that come to mind easily. Travel expenses. Adverting. Maintenance and upgrades of the stadium. And don't they have to pay rent on the stadium. They have to pay salaries of upwards of 200 minor leaguers. Plus salaries of major and minor league coaches and scouts and all the travel expenses involved there. There is all the equipment that the players, both in the majors and minors, use every day. There is a very expensive spring training facility to pay for and maintain. And salaries for all the support staff the team has. Have you ever looked at the list of team employees? You can't just look at revenue and payroll and think you know anything about the profitability of the team. And I'm going to say it again. I'm sick of all the team bashing on this site. Shame on all these writers that can't think of anything positive to write about. I want to think positvely about my team. I have for well over 50 years that I have been a fan. GO TWINS!!
  10. In the case of Outman, it's tough to change his luck on batted balls when he never huts the ball. Swinging and missing at a large number of pitches will not give the hitter an opportunity at better luck. And really, Julien is kind of in the same boat. He may be unlucky against breaking pitches, but until he can catch up to a fastball, pitcher will continue to abuse him.
  11. Check out his splits and you will get what they are seeing. He hits LHP very well and with power.
  12. Suggesting getting Kim on a make good deal is not happening. He just opted out of the last year and $16 million of his contract to get a better deal. And Atlanta was wolling to pay him the $16 million if he hadn't opted out.
  13. It is important to understand the rules with adding these players to the 40 man roster. If any of Outman or Kreidler, etc had been DFAd to add some of these players, those new players are frozen on the roster and can not be sent down or even DFAd if one needs to be removed to sign a free agent for instance. The only way to remove them from the roster is to release them straight out. Then you have exposed them to all 29 teams with no restrictions, like the rule 5 would have. Bottom line is that it is all about team flexibility. These guys really DO know what they are doing.
  14. My belief is that if you have no faith that your team has no chance and no future, why bother to watch and why bother to participate in this venue. We might all be better off.
  15. He has a General Manager. Everybody seems to forget that.
  16. Seems like the Twins claimed another no hit utility player from the Tigers recently. What was his name. Oh, ya, Willi Castro.
  17. I always heard that Kreidler was an extremely talented shortstop for the Tigers coming up. Shortstop of the future. And the Twins only have Fitzgerald as a backup at shortstop, so they will hope he can hit enough to be a utility guy for several positions. Better than Gasper or Keirsey.
  19. Seems to me that there are a lot of people on here that think they know more about running a baseball team than the ones running it. I tend to think that most of them know very little about running a baseball team. I certainly don't think that current management has probably done a great job of running this team, but I sure wouldn't want to see what the team looked like if it was run by a collaborative effort of the writers and commenters on this site. I agree that people need to state their opinions on these subjects, but this has been months and months if non stop whining. Why can't we get back to talking about baseball and quit all the back stabbing and finger pointing There!! That's my opinion!
  20. Enough of the Twins bashing. I am suck and tired of reading this stuff day after day. I am about done with this site. Can't we just get over it and move on. Let's start putting out some positive stories about what they have going forward. Who and what can be counted on to build on next year.
  21. How can any of you have any fun at all watching your team play baseball while you are so negative. I like to take the hopeful perspective. I feel so much better about it. There really are a lot of good young players who will continue to get better. I know there will be plenty to be frustrated about going forward, but hopefully more good than bad.
