  1. Only time will tell if the drafting and development have improved. The list of guys like Miranda, Julien, Lewis, Lee raked in the minors just like the new crop of youngsters you are talking about only to have them miss or just be disappointing so far. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch.
  2. I find it interesting that Zoll wants him to start playing 2B and 3B. Is he telling us that they are starting to think Culpepper can't handle SS or just want him to be another one of their utility guys that play average defense anywhere instead of superb defense at one position? Comparing Brooks Lee when he was in the minors, he played a total of 17 games at 2B and 3B with the vast majority of time spent at SS. Looks like they are leading Culpepper down the same path. Lewis was moved from SS. Seems Lee also needs to move from SS and now Culpepper isn't a big league SS? Zoll also wants Keaschall to play some of the time in the outfield? Does the team really need every new young hitter to be able to play anywhere thus making them a jack of all trades instead of a master of one? Sounds like a solid recipe to continue to be average instead of really good.
  3. Unfortunately even with the addition of Bell and Caratini, the Twins are NOT competitive. They weren't competitive with Correa and their supposed loaded bullpen. Adding a DH type 1Bman and a backup catcher won't improve them enough to even smell the playoffs much less make it. Sorry, but even if you didn't watch them play much in 2025, you'd know that. And IF Culpepper, Gonzalez, Jenkins, and any other youngster you want to mention DOESN'T come in and form some sort of foundation this organization might as well fold up shop and retract because the current foundation of Buxton, Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers won't be around anymore.
  4. You can call it a "soft compete". Some of us call it another "half measure", which is something Joe Pohlad said they weren't going to do. yet that is ALL they do. Someone needs to tell Joe, fool me once shame on me, fool me twice, thrice, four, five, six, one hundred, shame on you.
  5. Another Astros catcher signed for multiple seasons. Let's take a quick look at the last 3 seasons using Caratini's Batting Average, of which 1 was in Milwaukee. .259 .269 .259. Now taking a quick look at Christian Vazquez's Batting Average the 3 seasons BEFORE he came to Minnesota we have .258 .250 .283. Vasquez came to Minnesota when he turned 32 years old. Caratini comes to Minnesota when he turns 32 years old. Vasquez's 3 years in Minnesota he hit .223 .221 .189. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. Otherwise we can blame Falvey for not learning his lesson the first time. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
  6. They were paying Vazquez $10M per year so $7M is a savings of $3M. If Jeffers is traded and Caratini becomes the primary catcher, Falvey should be fired on the spot. With Bell making $7M and now Caratini making $7M, Falvey has spent $14M on a DH type 1stbaseman and a backup catcher. Wouldn't it make more sense to spend that $14M on 1 really good player that could actually help the lineup on a daily basis than 2 half measures? That is what Joe was referring too, NOT?
  7. To date, the only pitcher that Falvey has drafted that has successfully made it to a starting pitcher role is Bailey Ober. Why should Prielipp be any different than the landslide of majority?
  8. "Twins decision-makers would love for the organization’s next star closer to develop internally." 1. Because they won't spend to keep one or acquire one. 2. Because Falvey isn't able to identify star closer talent available for trade. 3. Because Falvey has this organization stuffed to the gills with AAAA pitchers that will probably never be good enough to be major league starters.
  9. For those of you who are willing to give Falvey a pass, you have short memories. $11M for Gallo and a huge contract for Correa that proved to be so bad that they had to dump him for a player they have already DFA'd and eat part of his salary for the next 3 years only proves he is inept at his job. Even when he was given the money to improve the club, he whiffed. Now, with salary constraints the best he can do is a 1st baseman (Bell) trending towards the end of his career that is better suited for the DH role. The only way this team will make the playoffs in 2026 or beyond with Falvey in charge is IF SOME of the young players like Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Larnach, Martin, Julien, and so on, become really good players, so much so, that they play 50-100% better than what we have previously seen. The chances of that happening are "slim to none". The optimist better known as Falvey is betting on "slim". Most of the rest of us are betting on "none".
  10. Falvey continues to improve the roster incrementally. I'm impressed. So far the Saints are looking much better.............. at the cost of the Twins. Now if they can get Gasper through waivers and put him back in St Paul they'll have another AAA bat that plays well there. By the way, is there someone around anywhere, Bueller maybe? that could tell Falvey to try to improve the major league roster too?
  11. If Josh Bell is the answer to the woes of a player like Royce Lewis, then this organization has failed miserably in the coaching department. I thought the coaches were the experts, thus the reason for hiring them. If the players have the answers then let's just fire the coaches and let the players run the show. The ONLY way any other player will listen to Josh Bell is if Josh Bell performs like a veteran all-star. That has happened since the year of the juiced ball in 2019. I also highly doubt that he will see much playing time at 1st base. How's Mr Lewis going to feel when Mr Bell can't field a routine grounder or dig out a low throw from him? Bell = DH.
  12. Anyone who doesn't think these 4 or 5 players are going to play a role on the major league roster is a fool. All you have to do is look at the likes of Gasper and see how the FO values worthless players. There was no reason for him to be on the roster in 2025 yet he remains for 2026 and they bring in 4 more players just as bad as him or worse. Falvey talked about Clemens and said he fully expects him to get significant playing time at 1B. Detroit and Philly barely found 100 AB's per season for him yet the Twins were able to give him almost 350. When a player barely hits over .200 and you consider him to be a major part of your team, you are beyond delusional. It is so incredibly obvious that Falvey doesn't know what a good hitter is or the value of one. With each of these signings he is establishing a floor that was lower than it was before the signings. My only hope is that the Twins have the worst record in baseball by the end of 2026 and Falvey is shown the door. He is truely the most incompetant person ever to run this team. I thought Terry Ryan was bad but Falvey has him beat by a mile.
  13. When the 9 players I named are NOT on the major league roster and are spending their time in the minors then you have a point. Until then, the team sucks BECAUSE they are playing in the majors. Unfortunately the regulars like Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Larnach also sucked. You don't become better by bringing in MORE players that suck. The ones that you have that suck, are enough. In the grand scheme of things, Falvey seems to want to keep the players that suck and he likes to add a shitload more players that suck. He's got a hard-on for players that suck and since he is running the Twins show then yes, the Twins have a hard-on for players that suck.
  14. Totally disagree. The team sucks BECAUSE this team has a hard-on for bad veterans. Without even naming the likes of the Gallos and Margots from seasons past we can just look at the current roster with the additions of Gasper, Kriedler, Clemens, Outman, Bride, Bell, Jackson, Wagaman, Arcia, and I haven't even gotten to the pitchers. How many bad veteran players do you need? I guess a ton if you've done a terrible job drafting prospects or developing them into big leaguers.
  15. I think the correct way to phrase this is the Twins became MORE non-competitive. They weren't competitive before July 31 with Bader - Castro - FRANCE - Varland - Duran - Jax - Coulombe or they wouldn't have dumped them.
  16. Outside of Buxton, Keaschall and maybe Martin, couldn't you list every other Twins hitter here? I mean, aren't all of them being expected to hit better in 2026? Shelton and the new coaches were hired to IMPROVE the club, right? Every move Falvey is making is being done to IMPROVE the roster, right? Otherwise, why is any change being done? They say you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. Joe said they were going to "go big or go home". This off-season isn't any different than any other off-season with Falvey and Joe running the show. All I see is "this little piggy stayed home".
  17. Falvey continues to buy into the plan of having veterans available to plug and play. For what? Injuries. It looks to me...... he doesn't want the ship to fall off the edge of the earth if the supposed regulars get hurt, thereby having a backup veteran to fill in if that happens. It's brilliant! Lee goes down, Arcia slots in at SS and they don't skip a beat. Keep the floor intact. 60 wins is a lock. His current off-season plan is to keep the team from getting worse. Unfortunately he doesn't understand he's already shredded this team into has-beens and incompetants. All he's does is maintain the status quo, he's done nothing to make the team better.
  18. This is normal for Falvey. He knows he can't sign anyone that is actually good from BOTH sides of the plate so he continues to try to get lucky with one that isn't. It's a plan that hasn't worked for 5 years now, but when you are the smartest man in the room you don't change course, you doubledown on your effort.
  19. Unless major moves are made before spring this team is just a mess. Sorry, there's just no other way to look at it. The biggest head-scratcher to me is the desire to move Keaschall to the outfield for some of his playing time. It's not like we have another solid defender guy that can hit consistantly to play 2B and with outfielders, Buxton, Martin, Wallner, Larnach, Outman, Roden, already positioned there and add in 3 legit prospects, Jenkins, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, that should get called up sometime in 2026 there should be ZERO need for Keaschall in the outfield. Now Falvey is creating a glut of incapable players for 1B that don't move the needle 1 degree. He is infatuated with players that had 1 or 2 months of stellar performance and completely ignores the fact that they totally blew chunks of puke the rest of their career. I also don't buy into the Pohlad wishes of saving money when you throw $7M at a player like Josh Bell who is a DH on his best days and shouldn't play any fielding position period. Moves like this prove that Joe has decided to go home in his "go big or go home" plan. This Falvey run Twins team has become so laughable that they are now like another A's or Pirates team. Compare 2019 to 2024, 2025, 2026, pick one of the latter 3 and see how Falvey has run this team into the ground.
  20. Just think, with the right number of injuries and if Shelton manages like Rocco to give guys a scheduled day off.......... The lineup could consist of C-Jackson 1B-Gasper 2B-Julien 3B-Kreidler SS-Fitzgerald OF-Outman, Roden, Clemens DH-Bell Outside of Julien who looked like a decent prospect, let's give Falvey an A+ for adding these losers to the team.
  21. There isn't a position on the Twins field outside of Buxton, when healthy, that isn't worthy of an upgrade. The biggest issue I see is that the Twins are not ready to give up on their core of young players yet. This includes Wallner, Larnach, Lee, Lewis, Martin, and Julien. Jeffers and Keaschall haven't proven that they AREN'T worthy of a roster spot. The others are hanging on by a thread. IF Lewis and/or Lee are trade bait for an established upgrade player that would improve either 3B or SS and you are serious about improving the team NOW, then why wait? Adding players like Bell has been tried for the last 3 years and are a waste of money and a roster spot. If they are serious about competing in 2026 it's time to pick a lane that more closely resembles a highway and not another dirt road.
  22. Actions speak louder than words. If Tom really wanted to show everyone who's in charge and that things are going to be different under him, then his first press conference should have included the dismissal of Falvey. Since that didn't happen, and things are really going to change, then we should see some big trades happening soon. No more waiting until February, no more fringe FA signings like Josh Bell, no more picking from the leftovers. Okay Tom, let's see some meaningful action, soon. Otherwise you're just blowing more smoke up our butts.
  23. You are taking this out of context to fit your narritive by deciding to use every player for comparison. I am only talking about regular starters. Maybe you need to re-read what I said....The 8 regulars, not the bench. Of your list who fits now? No one. Edman is the closest and if you are using a fair comparision he is actually considered a Utility player. Not a regular. Keaschall was not a bench player especially after he returned from his injury.
  24. Dodgers only moved 1 regular player and that was Betts. The Twins have zero players like Betts. Talent wise Buck is the only one who comes close to Betts and I would cringe at watching Buxton play SS. Trying to make the infielders into utility players because **** happens still comes at a cost. Yes, Dozier started at SS and moved to 2B, Same with Polanco. I'm not saying Lee, Lewis, Keaschall or any other player CAN'T do the same thing, but Falvey specifically stated he wanted to get Keaschall some time in the outfield. Why? Is the outfield depth that much worse than 2B? Not hardly. Which only means 1 thing. they want Keaschall to be more of a utility player. Okay. Fine. But then try him where you need him, like 1B, not where you have a surplus.
  25. This is the part that is just rediculous. If Lee isn't good enough to be playing SS then why is he there? Why did he play SS throughout his minor league career? The same can be said about Lewis. If you NEED a SS and the players you have there aren't capable then trade one of them for what you need. You don't just settle for subpar performance if you truely want to be a winner. That's a failed strategy proven over decades. If a player is good enough to be a Starter at any position, they don't need to play anywhere else. That's what you have a bench for. How many games did Hrbek, Knoblauch, Gagne, Gaetti, Puckett, Gladden, Brunansky play at a 2nd position? ZERO. That's why you have bench guys like Gene Larkin and Randy Bush. The ONLY utility guys you need should be bench players, not regulars. Good managers use their regulars only at their best position. Poor managers do the opposite.
