    Why is it so important that Lewis be given a constant position, but not Clemens? Lewis is firmly in a be-happy-I’m-in-the-lineup status with this team, as is every other guy save Jeffers and Buxton.

    Since the break: 3-2 against the A’s and KC; 3-4 against CLE and Cubs. Sounds about right. Nothing’s changed. And the schedule about to get pretty firm in August.

    KC’s bullpen is really really bad, so this game isn’t over. But I’ve been a sell guy since 2024…tired of mediocrity (when things are going “well”. It matters not to me the state of the league. The league will bounce back.

    He’s been one of my favorites…but yeah…even if he recovers somewhat down the stretch, the return for him isn’t going to ever be better than it is now, albeit lower than it was just a few weeks ago.

    If we traded Ryan for a pitcher whose arm does NOT seem to be in the process of falling off, would that be considered “buying”?

    It’s my understanding that the orgs view is the exact opposite of that.

    Why is KC allowed to play their best player/catcher every day? Isn’t that cheating? If you’d watched the Twins any time after AJ Pierzynski, you’d think it was against the rules.

    Leading the universe in errors as well. He’ll get every chance to find it at the plate and in the field with that power, though. Kinda surprised they never sent him to the FCL to stabilize things. Maybe better access to the top line instruction with the Muscle?

    I was assuming that is stricken from the new CBA this winter. OR… I was unaware. I’ll let you determine which is more likely.

    Only thing I can think of…Shelty wanted someone to get a chance to swing the bat before Roden, and he figured 100% that Larnach would have been walked intentionally. But Lewis got the unintentional intentional walk anyway. FWIW, Roden did put a good swing on one. Or…Larnach hurt or ill?

    Pretty much to a good team, with a 2-3 window that can squint and imagine him healthy and productive in a postseason (despite the fact that that has never happened). Hitting as well as he ever has when available, still fine in CF when available, doesn’t cost a ton, etc.

    I don’t know if there is such a thing as “with” Buxton, not consistently, and rarely by the end of the year. Hate to say it, but nobody can convince me that the no-trade clause is a good thing going forward.

    Doesn’t mention that he’s missed WAY more games than that in CF.

    Umm…Winokur is 2 almost years OLDER. Tait is one of only a small handful of 19 year olds that started the year in the Midwest League.

    Thank God!! After all, he’s almost 20! Seriously, I expect many more peaks and valleys on the journey…long way to go and definitely some work to do. But, I don’t see how he can be considered anything other than on-track right now…or a month ago, for that matter.

    Red Sox were willing to trade Peyton Tolle and Franklin Arias to the Twins in exchange for Joe Ryan at deadline last season. Minnesota opted not to make the swap, per @alexspeier (Underdog MLB) If true, this is a masterclass by Twins management in how to remain perpetually irrelevant.

    Kurtz going yard when he finally saw one of our righties, was quite predictable.

    No point in selling low. If someone comes along who is ready and better…fine. He’s even got enough defensive flexibility to be a utility guy in that scenario. Return isn’t going to go down much at all in the next couple of years. And could go up materially. If he’s unhappy or wants to be traded, that’s different…to a point.

    Tait since the break…944 OPS, with a 222 BABiP.

    Makes sense as the overall adjusted OPS is only 103. Can’t say they haven’t capitalized on their opportunities this season. The risk is that the RISP/BABIP numbers start normalizing. That would be…bad.

    I don’t know if they need ANOTHER right-handed bat as much as they need Buxton, Lewis, Keaschall, and one or two of the switch-hitters to start hitting lefties better…which they should be able to do.

    I don’t mind if the Twins traded from their glut of outfield prospects to obtain a good controllable bullpen arm or right-handed outfield bat…but that’s about it. They need to be net sellers.
