  1. Baltimore is 3-7 in their last 10…which is worse than Boston…even worse than the Twins, somehow (thanks to the LA of A).
  2. At the end of play on August 17, the Twins were 10.5 games up on the Tigers….with a +75 run differential relative to the Tigers. Now, they’re tied, and the Twins are -6 run differential relative to the Tigers. That was 33 days ago.
  3. This started a long time ago. It’s pretty easy to argue that the Twins played a little better overall in this series than they had been. Were 9-17 in their last 26 games headed into the series. Consistently losing series to all types of teams, and nothing working well. Ironically, we’re relatively healthy…back end of rotation making baby steps…and SHOULD be capable of digging out of it. But 10-20 (in last 30 games) is a long time of being really bad, and time is running out.
  4. I wouldn’t have gone with Henriquez, but I don’t get the pining for Alcala. He’s been awful…not shakey…awful…for some time now.
  5. Ober has now pitched 20+ more innings in 2024 than he ever had in a season. No sign really of tiring. Something to be said, I guess for having an 6-9 frame and not throwing exceptionally hard. The excellent command of his off-speed stuff continues. Fell victim tonight of very questionable pitch calling on the second Naylor HR (and predictably poor offense).
  6. If we call the Tigers 11-14 record over their final 25 games in 2009 a collapse…. what do we call the Twins record of 9-16 in their last 25 games?
  7. This was far from the first time he’s beaten us in Cleveland. 😢
  8. We weren’t likely to win the battle of the bullpens. And despite Correa’s clutch hit and Duran’s excellent inning…we didn’t. Would have liked to seen Sands, though.
  9. Naylor still looking for the 82 mph changeups.
  10. He was within 2 feet of giving us the lead! That’s how far the barrel of his bat was from crushing that pitch.
  11. What’s Cleveland’s win probability right now? 95%? 105%? Epic win if the Twins were to pull this one out.
  12. Let’s just throw him changeups until he hits one.
  13. 71 mph off the bat. Getting eaten alive by Bibee tonight. Although, he has company.
  14. Since his breakout game, Lee has done a pretty good job of breaking back in.
  15. Well…someone that used to be Craig Kimbrel anyway. He’d cost for a week about what Jax has cost for the season.
  16. Personally…I can’t wait to see Emmy and Jenkins platooned. Rocco’s brilliant. Just think of what Barry Bonds numbers would have been if his managers had had the foresight to platoon him!
  17. With the amateur draft down to 20 rounds and the coinciding reduction in low level affiliated minor leagues, “undrafted free agent” and “independent league player” aren’t going to mean exactly what they used to mean. More guys like Eeles will be slipping through the cracks than used to be the case. Eeles might not end up being a major league player, but he’s light years ahead of a ton of 25-27 year old drafted guys currently playing AA and AAA ball.
  18. Based on his age and the results Eeles was posting, he has no business being anywhere below AAA. He was comically dominating in his short stint at A+….3 Ks and 11 BB. Now has basically the best BB/K ratio among any Saints player…along with a 417 OBP. IMO, him skipping AA was very deliberate. And it’s proven to be the right call.
  19. Wait. If ALL teams are experiencing a lot of injuries, how can the Twins still be scrapping for a 6 seed?
  20. Maybe it’s the 937 OPS against and 5.63 ERA in his last 8 appearances? Or it could be his 617 SLG against in his last 20 appearances? The 8 HRs allowed over his last 20 innings? Or it could be because his arm is tired and he has options? It sure is a head-scratcher, though.
  21. To be fair to Margot…his primary problem isn’t pinch-hitting. Just hitting.
  22. Seems early for Thielbar to be warming for a potential 13th inning.
  23. Do you think Rocco knows that he can pinch hit Correa there…and then put Margot in defensively after the half inning (and/or to pinch run)?? I’m not sure he does.
  24. Unfortunately, I think someone told this guy how to pitch to the Twins…Throw fastballs over the middle of the plate.
