  1. Are we talking about the same player here? Chapman just picked up is second consecutive Platinum Glove award and won the Overall Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2018. Also, what evidence is there to say his defense will fall off?
  2. Barring injury, I'll gladly take that bet. And I'm cool with Buxton stealing 50 bases provided he has enough of those opportunities that make sense. If it take him 80 attempts to get there I'm less thrilled.
  3. Missing is that they assembled a team that won 100 games(objective), which is neat (subjective).
  4. As a pharmacy technician, I endorse this generic based plan. Most parts at least. I'd keep Littell in the bullpen but I'm a nihilist that wants to see a more fluid pitching staff where "starter" and "closer" mean very little. Not convinced on Boyd. He has a career FIP of 4.66. That's high. But also 238 strikeouts, which is also high. Also, with a few exceptions, brand and generic are the same damn thing.
  5. Maybe you've lost me, but it sounds like you've been clamoring someone. Did we get rid of a loogy this year that I don't remember?
  6. The Brewers were one game away from a World Series appearance. I would say it's a fairly small sample size, but to say it doesn't work seems a bit disingenuous.
  7. Talked to Romo. He said "No offense to ashbury but he doesn't even have nerf darts, just poorly folded paper airplanes, so what does he know?
  8. I like where this is going but I want to take it a step further. Half of our bullpen is guys that were starters once. Why not have them go more than one inning and make them unavailable the next day? Look for 5 innings out of your starter (less if he starts to faulter) then hand the ball to a guy like Littell for the next 2. At this point you've gotten to the 8th inning with 2 pitchers. Rinse repeat. Imagine trying to hit Odorizzi for 5 innings then getting cut down by Graterol for the next 2.
  9. Yes, yes we can. But I'm sure they'll just move onto how it doesn't matter really and that we have no shot in the playoffs anyway without truly acknowledging they were wrong. MN sport radio and print is insufferably conservative and pessimistic when it comes to sports in my opinion.
  10. Also picked up Littell in 2017. That one has worked pretty well so far. Here's hoping Falvey has a clue as to how the Indians are doing it.
  11. Hadn't realized how good of a year Dobnaks had. He seems to have a real... handle on hitters. But loving Twins Pitch so far keep it up! It's especially great for days I have to work. Keep up the good work Tom!
  12. I can't imagine that would be the case. There's no obligation to use a pitcher in a sort of way or even have a starting staff of 5 as far as I'm concerned.
  13. I owe Cave a huge apology. I think hearing all the calls for Cave to play over Kepler put a bad taste in my mouth but man is he tearing the cover off the ball of late. Also, the first homerun he hit today is a testament to either the winds of Chicago or the ball being super juiced. That looked like a routine fly ball off the bat.
  14. I've got a feeling once September 1 comes around we're gonna have a bullpen as packed as FDR's court. Staring pitcher starts to see a little trouble in the fourth inning? I've got 13 options to throw out there. And 3 were starting in Triple A as of a couple of weeks ago so they're pretty stretched out.
  15. I didn't realize Dyson's numbers were that good. A WHIP under 1? Nice. There's a Dyson vacuum joke to be made here but I've had a long day.
  16. Yeah looking at what they are selling and I'm thinking, yeah I'd like all 4 of those guys on the Twins lol.
  17. Felipe Vázquez is my answer because he's really good at baseball (this is the big one) and on a great contract. You've gotta deal some prospect capital at some point. Maybe not go full blown Dombrowski, but this club is gonna need a little more life in the bullpen if they hope to get by the Yankees and Astros in the playoffs.
  18. One thing you're not calculating in is people getting injured in the future. I think for that reason alone, Arraez is likely to stay for longer than you think. Unless a catcher gets hurt and that creates a different problem. So we'll see.
  19. Had to work tonight so I missed the game. Thanks Thieres for the great write-up, it's like I was there! Couple of thoughts 1.) Though I largely agree with you, TD is gonna have a field day in regards to the above quote. 2.) Ryne Harper struck out the side in the seventh. Pretty neat. I think he's a good example of the fact that velocity isn't everything and I always think of him as like a bullpen version of Rich Hill with that curve of his. 3.) Buxton. That hit had no right to be a double. Nevertheless, he persisted. What a ballplayer.
