  1. I still think predicting an OPS of .750 for Joe Mauer is way off-base. Three weeks of play, Levi. Three weeks of play. I didn't matter-of-factly dismiss anything. Here's the last sentence of my post, bolded in case you missed it: There is absolutely nothing inconsistent with my opinion. I'm simply not lighting myself on fire and storming the town square over 19 games in April, no matter how bad he has looked thus far. But if you want to manufacture an opinion I never made about how Mauer would charge into 2014 with a 1.000 OPS through the first 20 games, have at it. Guys have bad months all the time and I'd be surprised if you can find one example of me getting either too excited or too dismayed over a 20 game stretch of play. This is no different.
  2. It's three weeks into the season. If you can find one instance of me dismissing anyone who said Mauer would have a bad April, I'd love to see it. And during the offseason, I don't recall any of us knowing that he wasn't working out and was resting due to the concussion. I know I didn't find that out until just a few weeks ago.
  3. The thing is that it wasn't actually valuable depth. Mastroianni, Presley, and Fuld are basically the same guy. Those guys are always available. That doesn't excuse the Twins for deciding Jason Bartlett was an MLB player but it does mean that it's essentially a moot point. What's more interesting is how the Twins went from wanting Presley last season to dumping him this season. Either they made a scouting gaffe or something about the guy rubbed them the wrong way.
  4. I think you have that backwards. HR are not included in BABIP, as they are not in play.
  5. Mauer has been a slow starter in his career. He's also returning to play two months off in 2013 followed by an offseason where he didn't train much at all, if I remember correctly. It's not surprising that he's rusty. I'm a little concerned by how badly he's missing balls but I'll give it time and see if he comes around after being inactive for 6-7 months.
  6. *slow clap* Well played, sir. Well played.
  7. If the team can only have one Pedro Florimon, then Aaron Hicks should be that Pedro Florimon.
  8. Definitely the least appealing part of being in the tech world, that's for sure.
  9. And we've all discovered why I crashed the site last night. #IHateJeremyNygaard
  10. You can view the page at http://twinsdaily.com/content.php/2881-Twins-Daily-Technical-Difficulties
  11. As some of you may have noticed, Twins Daily was down for much of yesterday due to technical difficulties (primarily, the fact that I was in close proximity to the site and jinxed it given my recent string of bad luck). We appreciate the concern voiced over Twitter and Facebook and the error messages you forwarded on to me. Have no fear, the site was *not* hacked and no personal information was compromised. It was a (not so) simple upgrade issue with the server itself that spiraled into a chain of problems that kept the site out of action for 6-8 hours last night. Everything is back up and running now, though we lost several hours of posts from yesterday. If you're still having issues with the site, it's most likely due to locally stored cache on your desktop. Follow the link below to find out how to clear your cache on your browser and you should be good to go, just log back into the site and start railing on Gardy again. PS. No, I didn't take down the site on purpose because I was tired of hearing people complain about Joe Mauer. I swear. Instructions how to clear your browser cache: https://kb.iu.edu/data/ahic.html
  12. Yep. That was realization #178 in my night of hell. I backed up everything before taking down the server but my backup errored out just moments before completion, buggering the entire database. I could have salvaged some of the posts but said "To hell with it, I need to finish this before morning" and ran with what I had backed up from an earlier build. So we lost a couple hundred posts.
  13. Lost a few hours of posts due to a server screwup during an upgrade of Apache software. Other than that, everything should be working correctly and I'm going to &^%$ing sleep now.
  14. It's going to take more than three weeks of mediocre play for me to get worried about Mauer. Yeah, his strikeouts were trending the wrong way last year... Though that's not necessarily a bad thing in a vacuum. Give it time. If it's June 1 and he's still struggling, then it's time to get worried. 17 games in April don't tell us much about his future.
  15. Sigh. Phil Hughes, you big ol' flirt.
  16. That OPS would be more than tolerable from Florimon, it'd be downright good. I just don't think he's capable of doing it.
  17. I don't think it's that easy. You're talking about completely altering a guy's approach to the plate. We have no idea what kind of results would come from altering that approach. Would it help the Twins? Possibly. Are we guaranteed that the results would improve his output? Absolutely not.
  18. Mauer has a career .322 BA and .467 SLG. Mauer has a career .333 BA and .480 SLG with RISP. Mauer has a career .336 BA and .469 SLG with men on base. But hey, let's not let facts get in the way of a good argument.
  19. I'm actually okay with going after guys for showboating and general douchebaggery. But trying to get his team back in a game? Of course not. Ridiculous.
  20. Idiotic. If a team shifts, it is absolutely in his right to lay down a bunt and beat that shift, score be damned.
  21. I just re-coded the navigation on the mobile skin and simplified it a bunch... The old stock system was crap. The changes seem to check out in iOS and Android. If you see any issues with it, please post them here. Thanks.
  22. This is going to be a low scoring affair. Or not.
  23. They didn't even have many good at bats. The Jays pitching was just awful.
  24. Having a bunch of technical difficulties this morning, trying to find the cause right now.
  25. I didn't find that half inning fun at all. I found it terribly sad and an affront to all things baseball. Happy the Twins won, never care to see that level of play again.
