  1. This isn't the route I would take with the team but I don't think it's terrible, either. Sano has put the team into a bit of a pickle... He needs to play every day but is young and athletic enough that you want him out in the field somewhere. I would have tried to move Plouffe but then again, I haven't seen Sano play third much and the Twins certainly know more about his capabilities than any of us do. I hope this isn't the long term solution, though... I'd like to think the Twins will give Sano plenty of starts at third this season and re-evaluate next offseason.
  2. Biggest good surprise: Duffey and it's not very close in my eyes. Biggest bad surprise: Arcia and it's not close at all.
  3. His career road numbers are good so playing half his games in Oakland isn't a big concern. But I have mild concerns over his K rate.
  4. Good point. I completely forgot Ryan wasn't running the team when that happened.
  5. If I'm Milwaukee, I start the conversation at Berrios and don't dip below Kepler + Gonsalves. That's a realistic trade scenario, not the gibberish being spouted in this thread.
  6. Except for one thing: Why would the Brewers want Plouffe? They're on the cusp of a rebuild, especially if they trade Lucroy. The idea is nonsensical.
  7. God, yes, this. People are building a narrative around perception, not facts.
  8. If Hillary was only inconsistent about her views on SSM, I wouldn't have so many issues with her. She plays to the crowd. I know what Sanders stands for, even if I disagree with some of his views and think others are downright silly. I don't really know what Hillary Clinton stands for as a person. That's a problem for me. You may not feel the same and that's fine. And this isn't even bringing up the huge problem I have with the idea of four of our last five presidents having the last name Bush or Clinton. While the right yammers on about the Founding Fathers and the Constitution, I find it puzzling so few have a problem with this idea. I suspect the Founding Fathers would be mortified to see America willingly fall under the spell of dynastic rule.
  9. Ah, yes. The classic "I won't deny the guy's a liar but will instead point out other people lie as well" argument.
  10. I don't disagree - I dislike Clinton but I'm certainly not scared of her ideas - it's more of a "I've been beaten down with our choices over the past 20 or so years". But Clinton really irritates me. I have absolutely no idea what she genuinely believes in. She's a professional politician who panders to the crowd to such a degree I have little idea where she actually stands on the issues. One day, it's gay marriage, "BOO!" The next, it's a rainbow ****ing flag campaign logo. She's a political ping pong ball and I struggle to respect anyone who runs on that kind of (very mobile) platform. Obama isn't much different, when you get right down to it. The Great Left Hope who ends up being a wishy-washy centrist for most of his tenure.
  11. Same here, really. While I utterly despise Cruz, I don't like Clinton, either. I'm really tired of Douche vs. Turd Sandwich elections.
  12. So you don't care that he flat-out lied during a debate and preaches small government while gladly taking a huge pile of cash from the government for his own business. Nice politicking you got there. So you don't care what Matt Bevin says or does, provided the "correct" news source doesn't cover it. Got it.
  13. Any player that has a 40+ WAR career is a resounding draft success.
  14. Animal House. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7vtWB4owdE
  15. But then why wouldn't you just trade Plouffe? The best case situation with Plouffe at second is he replicates Dozier's 2014/15. The worst case situation is he simply cannot handle defensive duties at second base. Middle infielders aren't just plug and play. If you don't need a third baseman, trade your extra third baseman... Don't trade your second baseman and hope your third baseman can handle the position.
  16. If you can get him on a MiLB deal, now is a fine time to pull the trigger on that... But on an MLB deal, hells no. Securing MiLB depth is always a good thing... It only becomes a problem when you use MiLB depth guys as 25 man roster guys on Opening Day.
  17. On this, we do not disagree. I merely think last year wasn't a great example to use and it was certainly better than the years under Gardenhire.
  18. He's definitely better than Boone, which is why I'm not entirely against the idea. But he's a pretty significant risk.
  19. It certainly puts an interesting twist on Biblical Literalism. Then again, critical thinking isn't exactly a strong point of the radical right.
  20. John Kasich is the only guy in the GOP field that doesn't turn my stomach... And just like Jon Huntsman in 2012, he's basically ignored by the GOP base.
  21. It's surreal. There's no other way to put it, really. It's as if the GOP base is trolling the rest of the country in some kind of Kaufman-esque prank. Nobody in their right mind would honestly believe Carson is a legitimate presidential candidate. The same goes for Trump. While I intensely dislike guys like Cruz, at least I can dig really deep and see why someone might think he's a good candidate.
  22. I don't know if I agree the Twins had similar roster issues last year. Nunez was a pretty good bench bat and isn't a great defender. Escobar spent most of the season on the bench and struggled but we all know he has the talent to be better than that. Could the bench have been better? Absolutely... And as Ryan mentioned, he would have liked to have Arcia on the roster but Oswaldo was flailing away, posting pretty horrific numbers. The same goes for Pinto. The Twins bench wasn't good last year but it didn't have any complete embarrassments like Kubel or Bartlett, which makes the comparison to previous years a bit unfair. And yes, the GM gets to choose the 25 man roster but when you have a manager who has been at the helm for nearly 15 years, it's almost certain that manager has some influence on who makes the roster.
  23. Given the market, I can't see the Twins trading for a decent catcher without giving up Kepler and/or Berrios based on the quality of the trade target. I could swallow losing Kepler but not Berrios. It all depends on what the other team wants. And let's say the Brewers want Kepler + Gonsalves for Lucroy. At that point, giving up money + pick for Wieters seems like a pretty damned good deal, as Lucroy has the same question marks surrounding him. I don't want AJ. He's due to completely fall off a cliff at a moment's notice and his defense is already terrible. Salty is an interesting flyer but there's a good chance he's cooked. The Twins could easily enter 2016 in the same situation they were in 2015.
  24. I'd hire Gardy before I hired Dusty Baker, I know that much.
  25. I don't understand this thinking at all. People have been predicting doom and gloom for Dozier four years running. And it hasn't happened. So please, stop predicting it... One doesn't get to claim "I predicted that!" after being wrong about it the first five times it didn't happen. Also, the Twins have no one to back up Dozier so no, they should not trade him. Maybe at some point in 2016, Polanco makes his case and the situation changes.
