  1. The Jays cover Canada, they’re not purely an east coast team. They’re also a huge market as a result, which means they probably don’t play at 10am or whatever ridiculous time MLB starts the first game.
  2. People are way overblowing Duran's volatility. Yeah, he's not Joe Nathan... few are. What I see here matches up with the eye test and it's pretty normal closer stuff. He occasionally gets wild and is occasionally BABIPed to death. That's what happens when a guy has small samples of high leverage pitches. 3. Do the Rangers have any pitchers left at this point?
  4. It all depends on opponent, just like every other game. If the Twins draw Seattle or the Blue Jays, it's probably not the first game. If the Brewers draw the Marlins, that's probably the first game. If the Brewers draw the Cubs, that's not the first game. Too many variables in play to say anything for certain.
  5. Yer killing me, Seth. Just give me the names you want on YOUR top 20. :D
  6. I hadn't looked closely at the standings for a few days but wow, it looks like the Twins will face the Astros. Houston loses the tiebreaker to the Blue Jays (who are currently 1.5 games ahead) so catching them will be difficult. But the Astros also lost the tiebreaker to the Mariners, who are 1.5 games behind. It's more possible that Seattle catches Houston and knocks them out of the postseason entirely, though that would require the Mariners to actually win some baseball games, which they appear to be allergic to doing right now.
  7. It's prospect voting time again! A rundown of the rules again: 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. (you can do so from the voting page link below) 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). https://twinsdaily.com/prospect-voting 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp and then select my name when it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and again tag me, asking to have your vote deleted. I will remove it and you can vote again. Voting will close at end of day Monday, October 7th!
  8. If you paste a link, just change it to Twitter.com and remove the X. We'll get it fixed properly in the coming days.
  9. I think it’s unlikely we see him again but there’s little to lose by trying. What’s he going to do, double hurt himself? There’s a good chance he’d do that anyway.
  10. Yes, because game day action literally only involves the things a player does from innings 1-9.
  11. Dunno, they could easily be giving him a day off to monitor inflammation. The way the Twins have been rehabbing injuries, one game then a day off has been a really common practice.
  12. Absolutely. Not only does Kirilloff have the potential to be better than Solano, having a good Kirilloff and Solano on the bench makes the roster even deeper.
  13. Definitely, but I think Kirilloff is of particular interest right now given the injuries and recent struggles.
  14. I think the goal here is getting Kirilloff more PAs in hopes he turns it around. Solano doesn't need more reps.
  15. Professional baseball players, I assume.
  16. I stepped out of character and bought tickets for game one. I hope the Twins schedule doesn't conflict too much with the Brewers game, I'd like to watch both.
  17. Yeah, he certainly didn't adjust but there were confounding factors in there: he stopped hitting the ball as hard as often after the concussion, full stop. That was the biggest cause of his decline. Second, the Twins franchise at the time simply was not capable of steering anyone in the right direction, as they were as far behind the game as anyone. My god, look what they did to Hicks and then Buxton. It feels like there was a significant portion of post-concussion Joe Mauer performance left untapped by a franchise that didn't have the coaches to identify and fix holes the modern game was exploiting.
  18. Out of the draft Mauer was projected to be a 15-ish homer guy by pretty much everybody, his swing was too flat to ever be a legitimate power hitter.
  19. The Twins haven't had a healthy(ish) team in October since 2004. It'd be nice to see it JUST ONCE.
