  1. My point isn't that Dick and Bert are great, it's that almost everyone in the league is the same. I listen to teams across both leagues pretty regularly and DickBert are the standard, not an exception. And they're actually better than several other broadcast teams in that they don't make me want to throw things at the television... very often.
  2. Park has been unbelievable. If he's still doing this in 2-3 weeks, Mauer and Sano need to slide up and Park should slot into cleanup.
  3. I know it's easy to hate them but the Twins announcers aren't bad. They're not good but they're not bad. Blyleven, when he can stay on topic for more than three seconds, has a lot of informative statements about pitching. Bremer is, eh, whatever. The more you listen to other broadcasts, the more you realize they're all pretty much the same. Except Rex Hudler. God, how I hate Rex Hudler.
  4. Dunno, at least a few days. I've gone back to watch games at least a week old, IIRC. I suspect they stay there forever. There's no reason for them not to stay there forever.
  5. Yep, but only 90 minutes after the completion of the game.
  6. This post has caused me to reevaluate the decision to only let people like a post once.
  7. I wouldn't give Hughes a long leash but I think he deserves at least 2-3 more starts before getting pulled form the rotation. He has been a mix of "meh, kinda bad" and "acceptable". Given his track record, he can go either direction but I'd let him show me a bit more before making a decision. The stat to watch is Hughes' fastball velo. Currently, it's sitting right around his 2015 number, which is two miles slower than his If that velocity stays in the 90-91 range in his next two starts, I wouldn't think too hard about the decision to put him in the pen.
  8. Right now, my rotation would be: Santana Hughes (he hasn't pitched particularly well but he hasn't been terrible, either) Nolasco Berrios (after his second start, he earned a longer look) Duffey/Meyer (let them scrap over the last spot and then evaluate the situation when Gibson is ready)
  9. That's true.. But Santana is, without doubt, one of the Twins' five best starters. Therefore, he gets his spot back.
  10. I completely forgot about Abad. Toss him on the "definitely" list.
  11. Oh, individually the haul won't be that impressive but when combined, there should be a decent amount of talent coming back in return. No top-flight prospects but a smattering of solid upside guys.
  12. Given how badly the Twins stumbled out of the gate and how their rotation imploded so quickly - Meyer and Berrios are great to see in the long-term but will probably contribute to short-term losses - it makes sense to start exploring trades as early as the end of the month. Plouffe, Suzuki, Nolasco, Nunez, Milone, and Jepsen are givens. Dozier, Hughes, Gibson, and Perkins are not givens but should be explored. If the Twins are >10 games back in early June, I will be disappointed if at least 2-3 of those names aren't off the team by the end of July. There's actually quite a bit of talent on that list. Ryan *should* be able to bring back quite a bit of talent if he offloads a few of those guys.
  13. Definitely stay downtown. Loads of good bars within walking distance of TF. Keiran's, Mason's, Hubert's, etc. And the bars increase exponentially if you expand outward from TF.
  14. When was the last time Ryan traded a prospect of the caliber of Gordon? (Hint: the answer is "never")
  15. Well, that's been settled. Meyer to the rotation.
  16. Uh... How so? Because he was rich and famous? That's weird... Prince was rich and famous because he was one of the most skilled musicians on the planet. He was also a great philanthropist with that money. Maybe you should covertly pass this article over to your parents. It's touching, hilariously Prince, and gives insight to the man. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/prince-the-secret-philanthropist-his-cause-was-humanity-20160425 The man was a devout Christian, dedicated philanthropist, socially just, and a wonderful musician. Dunno what else we can expect out of a human being, really.
  17. I'm sure your parents are aware that Prince was deeply religious. Christian, even.
  18. I'm not saying the Twins have handled Meyer well - I don't understand half the moves made over the past 2-3 weeks - but skipping one start shouldn't hurt Alex too much.
  19. You guys are acting as if Meyer hasn't pitched since Spring Training. He last pitched on April 20th. In essence, he skipped one start. Is that optimal? No. Is it a deal-breaker? No, it shouldn't be... If the Twins plan on starting him, I'm sure he'll get some BP sessions in before games and be ready to go on Sunday.
  20. Yeah, but the nature of starters makes that more acceptable. Only one starter goes on any given day whereas you can use an entire bullpen on any given day. It makes it a lot harder to make in-game decisions when you get to pick between mediocre guy A, B, C, and D.
  21. Jepsen is a pretty good seventh inning guy. He's a tolerable eighth inning guy. He's not a good closer (though I think closers are overrated anyway so there's that). The problem, once again, isn't Jepsen... It's depth.
  22. Speed is never pointless but yeah, I agree that it's not mandatory. I think Mauer slots in a little better second in the lineup but he'd be pretty good leading off as well.
  23. Interestingly, the Twins played both sides of that coin this offseason. They traded for Murphy, which *may* have been an overpay. But that's still very much up in the air. But they also traded Herrmann for Palka and made Arizona overpay for a (bad) catcher. And then they let Fryer go for nothing. And then they went and picked up Hicks for nothing. This team confuses the hell out of me.
