  1. While I put nothing past the man, I don't know if this is really news. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/30/politics/uss-john-mccain-japan-white-house-navy-trump/index.html
  2. Lindor is likely a better player than Polanco going forward, yes. In 2019, Polanco has been the better player. Polanco has ripped out a whopping 2.6 fWAR in roughly a third of a season. Lindor has come up with a 1.0 fWAR in roughly a quarter of a season. Jorge is the better player right now. I don't think that will be true going forward but it's true right now.
  3. You're failing so hard YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT PAINC LOOKS LIEK YOU SHOULD STOP NOW BEFOER ONE OF US LOSSES IT
  4. LISTEN, THE TWINS LOST BY 11 RUNS. THEY STILL HAVE THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL BUT OBVIOUSLY, THINGS ARE FALLING APART. THE BULLPEN IS A MESS, PEREZ IS A FLUKE, AND BUXTON IS HIDING AN INJURY. fill in hot takes below
  5. Expecting anything more than a split on the road against a good team is setting yourself up for disappointment. It’s one game of 162.
  6. Thanos dying: yeah, should have been a better fight but they also got the drop on him and I suspect he was severely weakened from destroying the stones. Half his body was torn to shreds. Rogers hinted he could use Mjolnir in Avengers 2 by making it move. What changed? Dunno, and not sure if it matters really. Also, the axe (Stormbreaker) does not operate under the rules of Mjolnir.
  7. I think the Twins’ lack of an opener can be summed up with one stat: The Twins’ bullpen has pitched the fewest innings in the AL. If your starters are pitching a bunch of good innings, the need for an opener becomes less necessary.
  8. I agree but the kid sounds like he may be the type who will press on until he succeeds. It’s worth a couple of starts to find out more.
  9. I don’t see any reason not to push everyone back, give the starters a break during the coming off-days, and letting Smeltzer stick in a five man rotation to see what he can do. The team has a 9.5 game lead in May. They can afford to take small risks in hopes it improves the team for the rest of the season.
  10. Damn, Davies has ridiculous command.
  11. As you know, I'm a *bit* of a tech guy. I have a 4k HDR TV and, yes, I tuned it for color, saturation, black levels, etc. As a control measure, I also watched on an iPad Pro, one of the finest and most true LED screens produced today. The episode still looked like crap. I suspect HBO GO's stream tech is a bit at fault there but, again, that's why you don't try to control for optimum output, you try to control for user experience.
  12. You likely will, as your site won't have 15-20 people touching in on a daily basis to make it work and 20-30 people touching in regularly to keep the content fresh. I don't mean to sound like a dick here but Twins Daily is in a bit of a middle ground that's really hard to navigate. First off, we actually PAY our writers. We've had more than a few writers come to us from other, larger reaching and more established, organizations because we actually give the money we make back to them instead of expecting them to work 20 hours a week for $200 a month. Believe it or not but that's actually the norm in this industry. We want to be better than that. On the other hand, massive sites are able to maintain a staff and pay a few select individuals a working salary. We're not there, nor will we likely ever be. Those sites can afford to pay both tech and content enough to work them 40 hours a week with a decent salary. I'm defensive because this **** is REALLY HARD. We're working outside parameters of pretty much everyone. And they're good parameters to work outside because we care more about the community than profits (as evidenced by every single owner of the site having an outside income that greatly outweighs what we take from this website).
  13. I absolutely agree that the team needs more, better relievers to allow more flexibility in high leverage situations. I'm only arguing whether Rogers has been overused.
  14. Ooh, this bit really struck a nerve: "Cinematographer Fabian Wagner defended the darkness of that battle after the episode, claiming that the fault lay with those who “don’t know how to tune their TVs properly” As both a web developer and an artist who makes money from displaying art online, this is the height of both arrogance and ignorance. When the viewing device is beyond your control, you try to control for viewer "ignorance", meaning that you design, plot, and color for the broadest audience possible. You don't blame the audience, you reset your artistic goals to work within an acceptable range of audience experiences. That statement sounds EXACTLY like the **** I have had to deal with when I work with print artists who don't even try to understand how modern audiences experience images and video.
  15. I mostly agree that teams have to prove it but when is the last time the Yankees won a World Series? Or even appeared in a World Series? They haven't really been dominant for the past decade plus.
  16. Rogers has pitched 22 innings this season. That puts him on pace for about 65-70 innings for the season. He may have been overused early in the season (but not by a lot) but he's had a pretty easy 7-10 days. Sometimes, good pitchers just bomb out for a spell and then recover. I'm not worried yet.
  17. It raises some really valid points we don't want to think about as fans. We just experienced what are essentially six mid-range blockbuster films, done at about 1/5th the cost of a typical mid-range blockbuster film, put together in the time allotted for one mid-range blockbuster film to be produced. That's a big ask.
  18. This is a game the Twins should have won. They hit more, walked more, and pitched better. They lost by one run. It happens. Move on, try again tomorrow.
  19. Yes. It’s taking a bunch of positive replacements up and down the organization, all of whom are doing their jobs well, and instead focusing on a negative that no longer exists in the franchise. Lazy, boring, sloppy. It’s pure hack journalism and deserves all the vitriol it gets. The piece isn’t about why things are going right, it’s about scapegoating a perceived negative that NO LONGER EVEN PLAYS BASEBALL.
  20. It might have something to do with calling a guy who isn’t playing the MVP of 2019 and blaming most of the team’s recent woes on him, despite the front office surrounding him with not very good players. Joe Mauer never constructed a roster, never picked in the draft, and never signed a free agent. Never mind the bad form in bashing one of the five best players to ever wear a Twins uniform, a guy whose career was derailed by a brain injury. It’s lazy, boring, and sloppy.
  21. Cleveland is now closer in the standings to last place Kansas City than they are first place Minnesota.
  22. “So far this season, no other team in the league has hit six or more home runs in one game, the Twins have done it four times.” That is mind-blowing.
