Willihammer Provisional Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Bo Burnham is the greatest standup comedian currently. Discuss.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Louis C.K. Says......not even close.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Louis CK is so damned clever that it makes me angry. He can walk the line between offensiveness and tact while pounding at social issues like few other comics.

It's so clever and so well delivered you can't even tell he's doing the same type of humor as Seinfeld. Just on a completely different level of awesome.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 I like C.K. and will eat up his material happily. Even C.K. said his peak was 2007 though. He has said every dirty word and commented on the most taboo things already. What C.K. is now, is a middle aged craftsman who mostly tells jokes about his kids and airplane travel. What OTOHis more creative and layered than any standup act I've ever seen. It feels like high art but isn't pretentious at all, oh and its funny. Hilarious actually. Its a live routine but he tell at least one joke specifically for the Netflix/at-home audience ("video editors"). The amount of detail is just awesome.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Different strokes for different folks I guess, I wasn't nearly as impressed.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I'm enjoying the first 4 minutes of what I found on YouTube and want to thank you for bringing him to my attention. My children have let me down, apparently.
ashbury Verified Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Louis C.K. Says......not even close. Just finished listening to "what.". I think Bo lets the cat out of the bag about halfway through when he mentions Steve Martin and George Carlin in the bit about his left brain / right brain. Who was funnier, Martin or CK? I have no idea, they are so different. Bo isn't really standup in that light, more of a performance/concept artist, and at age 23 he already manages not to look small if compared to Martin. I look forward to seeing what he creates in the next 30 years and am sorry to be so late to the party already. / took me this long to watch a 1-hour video? Check the timestamps. Either I have a life or else I am real slow. Your call.
Joe Provisional Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Bo Burnham has been around for since 07' at least. I'd suggest watching I'm Bo Yo or Bo Fo Sho on YouTube. He is prodilogical in this genre. Oh Bo is a newer video he put out that is amazing as well. What. is pretty damn entertaining. I love seeing C.K. get interviewed. He's excellent. I'm pretty lukewarm on his standup though. Its like Arrested Development season 4. Its incredibly clever, but its just not laugh out loud stuff in my opinion. That isn't meant to discredit him in anyway.
