If they go reclamation project I would not mind Baker. It took awhile to happen but Baker looked to me like he had taken a big step forward in 2011 before his injury. He had always been a nibbler failing to put guys away without a lot of foul tips or balls, but 2011 he was much quicker about ending at bats via more ks or playable weak contact. There is also still the Target Field benefit to fly ball pitchers. He is a major gamble with his injury history, but I think there is maybe more upside there then some of the older scrap heap guys.

I'm not huge on picking up Baker since we already have Hughes. I think they have very similar pitching styles. Unless they space them so that no team sees both of them. It'd be like facing the same guy two games in a row.

The team I watched in 2013 was more competitive than the team I watched in 2012. Both teams won 66 games. I believe the Twins were better in 2013 and could have won more games if the needed/wanted to.

I agree. The strikeouts really started piling up and the offensive nosedive kicked into full force after Mauer went down. Its almost like this team missed his leadership or something.
