goulik Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Dixon Machado was recently removed from the Tigers 40 man roster to make room for FA and Trade acquisitions. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=machad001dix&utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com He was one of their top 25 prospects at high A. Here is a scouting report:http://www.blessyouboys.com/2013/1/10/3859402/the-top-50-prospects-countdown-no-24-ss-dixon-machado The question I have is who could we release to pick him up and would it be worth putting him on the 40 man and optioning him to New Britain?
Lonestar Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 He sounds like James Bereford (except Bereford can hit for average, at least relatively). My point is that Beresford is not on the 40-man roster.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I saw Dixon Machado play for West Michigan (in Beloit) a couple of years ago. Probably the best defensive shortstop I've ever seen, but he's so skinny and just can't hit much. He'd be a younger version of Florimon, without the power.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 No reason for Collabello to be on the 40. Kubel signing makes it even less likely he would get playing time. A younger defensive shortstop is a greater need in the organization.
